There is no way on Earth they could have found a more perfect actor to play McLovin
True dat.
He could totally have been one of my friends.
Well, he is McLovin.
Hard to believe that this was his first professional acting job
chicka chicka yeah
Christopher Mintz-Plasse was only 17 when he played McLovin, so in accordance with California law, a parent had to be on set during filming of all of his scenes, including the sex scene. As he described it later, "I had to simulate sex with my mother in the room watching me."
REAL TRAP SHIT! lol
@@chanceneck8072 Trapaholics!
@@BasedNate YES!!! Someone got my little nod. 😅🥳👍
I did not expect that!!
Damn son, where'd you find this? 😂🤣🤭
@@chanceneck8072 Lol
We make it look easy! 😏
@@BasedNate What with your voice? 😅😎👍
This movie is THE definitive high school movie. No one is cool, everyone is stupid and can't take a hint. It's painfully accurate even while being waaaaay over the top.
Ive always said that, while the entire night overall is perhaps unrealistic, the story tells everyones wildest high school stories. An awkward sexual encounter? Going to any lengths to get booze? Winding up at the wrong party you have no business being at? Doing literally whatever it takes to get to a party where you know a girl likes you? Run in with cops? A lot for one night but most of us can relate to at least one of these
@@bomamba9402 THANK YOU.!!! Just just wrote my next book in my head.. Or twelve of them - I have irl experiences enough for a a dozen, thanks to me being sooo smart, tuff, stoopid, little, and having NOOOOO sense of wtf was OK or not.. :D
Election is also pretty great. You can’t go wrong either way.
Dan Remec sounded pretty cool, he had a six pack since kindergarten
It's fun watching George turn different shades of red.
There were a few times I was genuinely afraid he was going to pass out.
Absolutely this. it felt like this movie was the absolute anti-George and yet very George
😂😂😂
George's face was as red as the leg of Seth's pants.
The end of this movie is the perfect encapsulation of “childhoods over.”
well put.
100% Man even though the whole movie was funny as hell throughout, that last scene on the escalator really hit deep.
"Why the fuck would it be between that and Mohamed" 🤣 gets me every time
The tit punch reaction was hilarious. George laughing his ass off, Simone in shock 🤣
In 2007 I saw this movie on a first date with a girl I'd met through a Craigslist personals ad.
We just celebrated our 12th wedding anniversary.
You didnt go on a date until you were married for 12 years? Thats wild.
@@thejustinsteffan living without common sense. thats more than wild. its blinding.
I saw this in theaters with my friends on our last day of senior year of high school. We all loved it and it really felt like an accurate reflection of our high school experience, the way they talked to each other was so spot on. Would love to see y’all react to more of these comedies from that era. Pineapple Express, Role Models, Knocked Up, I Love You Man, etc.
"I Love You Man" is a favourite movie of mine. I hope they decide to watch it!
@@mrjohndoee agree, I Love You Man was my best friend and mine's fav movie cause we both played music and love Rush lol, it was meant for us
Pineapple Express and Grandma's Boy are classic stoner comedies
Oh man, if they felt like this one was chaotic and insane, they HAVE to watch Pineapple Express.
Also 'sex drive' is great.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen George laugh so hard as the period dance scene. You almost disappeared off screen. It was awesome!
Seeing Simone be horrified by the glimpses into the minds of guys... So good
This movie is so good. As someone else said, the dialogue, while over-the-top in spots just feels so natural. They all played their awkward teenage parts so well. It's just a fantastic comedy.
You must say... "vagtastic comedy"
This is just nonstop fun. There was a kid in my high school that looked like McLovin and when this came out, he got called McLovin until we graduated
I think every school had a McLovin, I knew about 3 hahahahaha
@@Jamiiemac this is going to sound made up but I promise it’s not. I almost added this to the original comment but once at a bonfire he came with a few of us to a convenience store to get some snacks and a local cop walked in, looked at him, and yelled “McLovin!!”
do you think he liked it?
@@Tommieboy2009 I know definitively he did not. I didn’t call him that much but that’s a sort of behavior I’m glad to have matured past.
Well, it was either that or Mohammed.
I can't believe Seth Rogen and his best friend/producing partner Evan Goldberg started writing this in high school!!! Also Seth has said numerous times that the period blood thing happened to one of his friends at a dance and they noticed it after it ended.
The period blood thing happened to ME! I was a rock show at a bar, a bunch of different girls had sat in my lap and then I look down and....blood. Holy shit. I felt like i had been marked as territory. LOL.
@@thomasharfst3381 ew. 😆🤢
@Trump 2024 if you don’t know your cycle is beginning then you won’t be able to use preventative measures to keep from bleeding down your leg. so, yes.
The character names “Seth” and “Evan” are based on Seth Rogan and Evan Goldberg who co-wrote the movie. I believe much of it was written from their own personal experiences. Super raunchy but so funny.
The scene with Michael Cera in the bedroom with the guy snorting coke is in my all-time favorite scenes ever.
“You want a line of cocaine?”
“No way man…”
“Yeahhh!” 😂
"oh no, it's not me? fuckin bullshit, you're a fuckin singer"
When he’s singing and the coke guy goes “ wah wah” it kills me every time
All raunchy and insane antics aside, this is one of the sweetest bromances put to film. The fact that it was based on Rogen & Golberg's real-life bromance makes it all the more heart-warming.
11:25 That might be the most I have ever seen you lose it
Man I fucking love this film, it speaks to the stupid teenager inside every 30year old dude
20:50 I spoke too soon
33:16 spoke too soon again...
I love how everything in this movie feels so natural. I have no idea if any of it was improv, but it definitely feels that way sometimes.
It´s definitely autobiographic.
@@chanceneck8072 Yeah, Seth and Evan = Seth Rogan and Evan Goldberg.
This movie has aged so well, doesn't even feel like 15 years. Fine comedy gold that's only gonna get more and more recognition. Glad you guys enjoyed it as we enjoyed watching with you guys 😁
The scene with seth on the soccer field telling evan about being the iron chef of pounding vaj was probably the hardest Ive ever laughed in a movie theater... Everything about the movie is just plain gold. The plot, storyline and all the dialogue is absolutely perfect...
lol line was too funny
The way Jonah Hill says "vág" is so fucking funny, it's ridiculous.
One of my favorite movies. Probably the hardest I've ever laughed in the theaters
This did for my generation what Dazed and Confused did for my Mom back when it came out.
That´s interesting. I guess I was born directly in the middle of those two generations.
I couldn't believe how much I liked this movie when I saw it in theaters. It wasn't at all the "type" of movie I would normally consider seeing. It basically proved to me that this genre can be as incredible as anything else if it's done right. I got home feeling like I'd just seen the latest big Blockbuster, and it was just a derpy teen comedy...but I knew people would be talking about it forever.
That “Appeal Box” censor edit actually made me laugh out loud.
Cinebinge, you never fail to snatch the humor from the jaws of defeat.🙂
There are certain "generational" movies that set the tone of comedy and drama for years after they are released and Superbad is definitely one of them. I was working at Blockbuster video when this came out and I recommended it to everyone who came in. Most people who looked over the age of 30 told me they hated it while younger people (at the time) said it was the best movie they'd ever seen.
This was one of the first high school comedies I remember seeing where the actors actually look like high school students for the most part and not 30 year olds. Also the general vibe of the awkward complete lack of confidence in the main trio hit so hard when I saw this the first time my last year of high school.
I want a spin-off about the kid eating dessert by himself in the cafeteria.
You are a Nolan so why don't you make one?
@@Panurus_biarmicus There are a lot of Nolans, we aren't all amazing filmmakers.
You guys should watch Role Models!
Role Models is possibly my favorite of the early '00s R-rated comedies (tied with The 40 Year-old Virgin). So funny and surprisingly heartwarming, and Paul Rudd is hilarious.
TASTE THE BEAST!
You white, then you Ben Affleck.
Ronnie is fkn comedy 😭 little Bobbie J
The McLovin actor is in Role Models (great movie) ... where he plays pretty much the same character
@11:26 That contrast of reactions was priceless. Simone and Becca almost had the same face...LOL!!! Proving once again George loves that comedy from long ago.
I was afraid George would choke to death because he laughed so hard. Loved your reaction.
My favorite comedy film of all time! George really liked this one lol, he was dying the whole time
11:25 An awkward moment, but my funniest scene
11:58 Best meme scene
20:50 George, I thought it was giving you a cardiac arrest
21:14 Poor Seth...
28:35 And the best moment for Mclovin... for now
31:13 They were like his cool uncles.
33:52 Oh, right... Guys, you should react to The Hangover (2009)
Simone and George's reactions to this and Dumb & Dumber had me rolling. They have such a great sense of humor. I hope we see more reactions to comedies on this channel.
The actor who plays McLovin has played a slightly different version of that "nerdy" character in the movie "Promising Young Woman." Still kinda funny and nerdy, but also with creepier, more predatory undertones. A great movie to react to, btw, if you have the chance!
I'm yet to watch but I have a feeling Simone is gonna roll her eyes a lot. 😂😂😂
But while laughing, too.
If no one’s mentioned it Chris (McLovin) was also nerdy as hell in Fright Night (2011 reboot) that’s another hilarious movie with a horror flare. Worth checking out.
Man, I can't believe how old this movie is already. It doesn't feel that long ago that I went to see it and the whole theater was dying of laughter. George making fun of Seth's ridiculous laugh the whole movie was great. 'heuh heuh heuh' LOL. Michael Cera trying to sing "These Eyes" never gets old.
GOOD BOYS (2019) is in the same spirit as this movie, very funny, and produced by Seth & Evan. It’s like a spiritual prequel.
Dumb & Dumber and Superbad back to back?! Let's go! Lol. Absolute classics. Both movies will never fail to make me laugh. Next up Pineapple Express? Haha
The DVD commentary for this movie is a 10/10 gem. It’s Rogan, Cera and Jonah Hill driving Judd Apatow up a wall for 2 hours
"Don't swear in front of my kids"
"You know all those toys she has? Those were bought with swearing"
I still wear my McLovin ID Tshirt all over the place
The guy who threw the baseball bat at Jonah was his actual father 🤙🏻
This movie brings back when I was in high school. Fun fact, Seth rogan sad that they have wrote the script when they were in high school but the time the film was green lit, they were already too old for the role so they had hire Jonah Hill and Michael Cera to play as their young selves.
I saw this movie when it came out and I was the around same age as the Seth and Evan characters. To be a high schooler watching this movie was one of the absolute joys of my life. You recognized everything they were talking about and instantly related to them.
Bill Hader getting it at the party with a beer in one hand will never not make me laugh !
I think the most underrated movie from this "Apatow era", if you could call it that, is Forgetting Sarah Marshall!!! Highly recommend, you guys would really enjoy
If you like compressed storylines along the same theme, check out License To Drive. Featuring young Corey Haim, Corey Feldman and Heather Graham.
This is my most rewatched movie of all time. It just came out at exactly the right moment in my life to resonate so hard with me. And the best thing about it is how timeless it is. It doesn't rely on any dated references.
This is my new 'feel good' reaction that I've circled back to a few times now. Great positive friendly vibes.
Definitely recommend Booksmart directed by Olivia Wilde. Probably the closest cousin to Superbad but from a female perspective. Would be interested in Simone’s perspective since it deals with a lot of female friendships and it’s equally hilarious and creative as Superbad.
And it stars Jonah Hills sister.
It's a great movie and its one of the only handful of comedies made in the past few years that actually made me laugh, plus Billie Lourd is in it and she's awesome
Mclovin and the police officers were the highlight of the whole movie. I love each second they appeared
McLovin is basically The Butters of Superbad
I love you all and watch a lot of your reactions but this reactions I've watched several times. Fantastic.
I've never laughed harder in a cinema than when I watched this.
One of the funniest movies I've ever seen and it still hold up relatively well even today!
Just wanted to tell you, congratulations on 75,000 subscribers. You should be proud for making it this far!👍🎉
This movie brings me back to the days of : Fast Times At Ridgemont High.
The period blood situation did happen at a place that Seth Rogan was at, lol. Nice catch.
I feel this movie was made for people like me that consider ourselves very lucky to have survived a night like this where everything went wrong according to our plans but we still remember the night as awesome. "It's a dangerous business, going out of your door".
And if you don't kick your feet, there's no telling where you might go off too
Bill Hader and Seth Rogan as a cop is so hilarious. " I like this job I get free hair cuts"
This has been my favorite of your reviews so far. Love watching you guys lose it laughing.
Probably my favorite comedy movie. Too many great moments. 10/10
Great reaction! Superbad is one of My fave movies; not only one of the funniest movies I had ever seen, but maybe the most oddly sweet coming-of-age flick, too (that convo in the sleeping bags and then moving on to mall scene, getting summertime girlfriends and actually parting ways)...
The Best reaction to this movie i've ever seen 🤙
This one had me laughing like crazy the first time i saw it, brought back so many memories, guys! Excellent!
You need to do Role Models for more McLovin fun. He's no less nerdy, but gets to play off an angry Paul Rudd. Great movie.
I just saw some clips of that, haven't seen the full movie in awhile - the clips reminded me Paul Rudd is weirdly un-typecast in that movie haha. He's never angry!
Greatest "teen movies" ever, Fast Times at Ridgemont High, Dazed and Confused & Superbad.
One of the few reaction channels where I press Thumbs Up in the first 5 seconds.
YOU have to watch the McLovin character in the movie - "Role Models" with Paul Rudd sometime if you have not already....excellent movie!
Thanks for the react!
So Canadian! Canadian Michael Cera lip synching These Eyes by Canadian group The Guess Who in a scene written by 2 Canadians, Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg. I'm such a proud Canadian!😁👍🇨🇦
Best comedy in the last 20 yrs. Actually one of the all time greats and I was in my 40's at the time
Great reaction guys, even with the cencership edits your reaction was awesome.
You still really get the point across that you loved it.
Simone George keep up your great work.👍❤️🤟
Your thumbnails are something to be admired
I think the closest movie to this is probably Easy A with Emma Stone. Not plot wise or anything but vibe wise. It's a great movie.
A twist of Can't Hardly Wait.
Easy A is a nice John Hughes tribute film. Great cast.
i don’t think so. easy a isn’t even a quarter as funny as superbad is.
I love this movie, it totally reminds me of me and my friends at that age. It's like if all of our best stories from 2-3 years had happened in the same night.
This might be the best reaction to this movie ever. Between Simone and George I was dying 😂😭
It’s _Superbad,_ and it’s super good. I really appreciate how they made the sleeping bag scene both hilarious and really sweet. True best buds should acknowledge the love that’s there. It’s why they’re the best.
From the end of the 90s with 'Cant Hardly Wait' and the iconic 'American Pie', to the early 2010s. That was a cool era for movies like this.
I worked at a Blockbuster in 2005 and had so much fun with these 'silly' movies.
This movie came out when I was a senior in high school. It was just perfect timing.
So much of this was filmed in my area lol. Though to be fair, I am in Los Angeles lol. But like, the scene where they’re doing donuts in the cop car was the parking lot across from CSUN which is like a half mile away
Christopher Mintz-Plasse (McLovin) had zero acting experience when he auditioned for this. He gave them a headshot that he took with his phone’s camera.
Back in High School Home-Ec was mandatory. The teacher had kids group into four at a table and that would be your group for the semester. All the guys grouped together at tables. I picked one with three girls, it was the smart move. They guided me to an easy "A".
Most of you may not notice, but with my highly trained eye, I can spot that the thumbnail is photoshopped. Oh yes. How can I tell? Simple. There's no way Simone is 5 foot 10
"I'm so sweaty from laughing" yep, it IS that funny!!!
Take a shot every time Simone excalims "Jesus!"
7:08 George on seeing a girl's thong, "Oh I remember that in High School", Simone disapproving, "-I mean I didn't do that"... Real convincing George....
This is one of my favorite movies of all time - must have seen it over 30 times and still laugh as hard as I did the first time.
The main characters are named Seth and Evan because of Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg friends and partners in writing, Seth wanted to play the role himself but by the time the movie could be done he was in his late 20’s
This movie surprises everyone. No way of knowing how funny it’s really gonna be.
It's amazing how far they've all come in 15 years!
This movie came out when I was in my late teens/early 20's and was THE MOVIE of the time. It's actually kinda scary how accurate (if extreme) it portrays how things were then 😂
This came out when I was 21 and your right it’s super accurate around that time lol
I highly suggest grandma’s boy, and strange wilderness. Two hilarious comedies.
A friend of mine in college was an extra in this movie, she's a student in the Home Ec classroom. It's always so weird seeing her in it because she's an incredibly modest, calm spoken individual who never engaged in any of this kind of behavior or language. I spotted her in it (and later confirmed it) at 2am when I was supposed to be studying for a final.
When can you see her?
First saw this movie as a matinee in Kitty Hawk, NC during a trip we took for my wife's 30th birthday. OMG, so good. Such good memories, I'll never forget the which year it was released.
Great reaction! You should check out "This is the End". Michael Cera's character looks exactly the same, but is totally different.
And Jonah is possessed by a dick-devil, bringing it all full circle.
Mclovin in this movie is basically sam in lord of the rings
9:51 The look on Simone’s face is burned in my brain 😂
You guys should check out "Nick and Nora's Infinite Playlist"; one of my favorite Michael Cera movies! Reminds me of being back in high school...
I know it's not in vogue, but I unironically love Michael Cera's whole vibe: Nick and Nora, Youth in Revolt, Scott Pilgrim. He's great.
"Young Michael Cera"
George, it's been 16 years, we all know by now that Cera doesn't age. He will forever look like a 16 year old
Seth Rogan said they started writing this in elementary school all the way through high school and college. By things they say in school , experiences , stories etc .
‘Neighbors’ is another movie with Seth Rogen and Christopher Mintz-plasse (red mist), there he plays a frat boy and Seth plays a parent. Very different role for both also a very crass and hilarious movie. Great video as always guys!
