I am 10000% copying this idea because Dave is a genius and this solution is exactly what I need. The M11 is my fav cameras… but it’s made me ignore my MP. And then the Q343 just has been insane and I love it as well. But it’s time I lock them up and use my MP.
Happy New Year Dave! Looking forward to your film images next 30 days and beyond. Truly enjoyed your first batch. I to will put down my digital M8 and focus on shooting film again. 🎞️ Cheers!!
Happy New Year Dave ! Another cool idea to try is, after shooting for 30 days with film rolls, to store them in a locking box for another 30 days before developing them. This way, you forget about the photos and rediscover them later once they’re developed. By the way, what scanner does your lab use? A Frontier? I think you have a video about this, but for these photos here, which scanner were they scanned with ? I assume you did it yourself with the negative example at the end of the video?
Thanks for the suggestion. I hadn’t developed any film until this video (for this video) since Nov. I have 14 rolls, including my daughters birthday in Nov and all of our Christmas activities. Will develop sometime in the next few weeks.
This was such a joyful video. It’s been well over a decade since I shot at Pt Reyes (flat overcast) but I loved seeing some of the paths I walked. And like everyone else who has been within 20 miles of it I too made a pic of the wreck.
I was getting fed up with all the youtube photographers taking what is to me very bad photos, and I'm glad I stumbled upon this channel! Ektar really does look wonderful, great pics. It's a joy following you along this day.
Hi Dave, a fantastic video, buddy! Oh man, it is amazing how this video brought me remembering back to my youth age: selecting a film after the circumstances. I seldom get into situations like that in my today's digital landscape photography 😆 So refreshing! Thank you for this video. I like all your photos! Nice greetings, Christian
Super nice shots. I love the flared out shot especially. That one and the "people clump" hill shot are my personal favorites from the set. The "T" composition with the coastline running vertically into a horizontal landscape plane is also really cool. You just don't see that much, especially actually balanced. Lately I've been taking my M240 out with a 1GB SD card, which is good for about 25 shots. I ignore the LCD altogether too. So I can't chimp, and I can't rifle off just any shot or I'll run out of space immediately. It's been a fun way to trick myself into feeling more limited ha.
Love that Dave………the feeling when you review the negatives on the light table and realise you nailed the shot is the best. I’m heading your way towards the end of April and will definitely check out Point Reyes lighthouse and the golden gate sunrise.
Hey you mention that it's not too difficult to match the look of the film you're using herer on digital. As a fun exercise how would you go about doing so? Shooting and prcoerssing! Thanks
Great Video Dave.. I'm primarily a nature photographer with a strong emphasis on wildlife, but I always enjoy listening to your experiences in field and the type of photography you do with your rangefinders. I enjoy this feed so much that I broke down and purchased an M9, had new sensor glass put on it, and bought a couple Voigtlander lenses to learn how to see things differently. I live near Santa Cruz (close to you)... should you ever want to make your way here, send me an email... there are lots of cool spots in my area that might work well to support your film and digital projects.... bl
@@davidherringha! That explains it! 😂 - I thought you were in SF proper, not the South Bay. Check out Año Nuevo Beach for sea lions and their pups this time of year! You’ll thank me later! Also, do you ever get up North to back parts on Sonoma County around Valley Ford Rd, Red Hill Rd, Bodega Rd, etc? There are some really cool shots to be had around there, especially of old red barns. 😃
Thanks!
Thank you!

Yes dude! LOCK IT UP. If I didn't lock it, I'd still grab it. I know myself. I had to make it inconvenient haha.
that image at 10:58, just wow. amazing.
Thank you!

Stunning work, Dave! Shoot more film, please!
I am for sure!
awesome dude, happy new year my friend and really good idea to close the m11 in a box to use more the m6 :) I need to do the same soon :) Hugs
Thanks so much, and happy new year to you as well!

Thank you! Too bad the ship has completely fallen apart now.
These shots are INSANE🔥
Thanks man!

Christian
Thank you! I remember when we selected film based on the light / situation, and it feels good going back to that!
Lovely shots fella. I’d be too nervous a job came up where I needed the M11 and have to tell them to wait X amount of days! Haha
Thanks! I specially didn’t book anything in January, so I’m hoping nothing serious pops up!
@ I’m sure you could source one or find a manual override! None the less was a cracking video to watch!
Ektar makes everyone look like they just got back from a beach vacation. Great video
Ha, definitely a red/bronze look on the skin.

Thanks so much! I enjoy shooting with limitation, and I’m sure you’re having fun with it too!
Really liked this video Dave. 👍🏻 Thnx!
Thank you!
Thank you Dave… youre my second favorite tuber❤️😂
Aww thanks!
#filmisnotdead. Great bright shots ✨Happy New Year Dave!
Thank you! Happy New Year!

Such a great feeling. Enjoy your visit out here!
Happy new year 👍 what a lovely enjoyable video to watch after work, great shots really. Which lenses are you using ?
Thank you, and happy new year to you as well! I took out three lenses: 28 Summicron, and the 35 & 50 Lux.
Great shots! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks!
Thanks for another great episode Dave!
Thank you!
Great shots, thank you for sharing Dave.

I have other videos about editing digital like film, as well as the owner of verygoodpresets.com
Happy New Year Dave.
Happy New Year to you as well!
Good idea. I’m going to go back to film as well. Need to start the defrosting process.
I'm enjoying being exclusive with film for a bit.
Nothing better than these videos on a monday morning
Thanks my friend!
Love seeing you shoot the m6 again. Much love and respect bro
Thanks, me too!
Beautiful shots! Just bought three rolls of Ektar 100 for my M4-P. Cheers!
Nice! It’s so good when it’s exposed properly. Prob my fav film stock these days.
A VGP based off of ektar?
Not currently developing one but I’m open to it!
Thanks Dave
Always!
Excellent video Sir.
Thank you!
your opening shot is about where my mother's ashes are scattered. I bet she said "hi" (but not in a spooky way).
What a beautiful final spot. Thank you for sharing.
в чому сенс? заради відео на ютубі?
Translated your question but unsure what you're asking. "What are you doing? How would you like it?" I'm photographing, and I love it. :-)

Thanks man! One of my good friends lives in that area, and we shoot together often. Hit me up on IG and let's connect!
Technically, you're correct, but everyone around here pronounces it "point rays." Lovely shots though!
Oh I’m well aware. But I was introduced to this area by my Spanish speaking community, so it will always be two syllables to me!
Can I borrow your M11 meanwhile?😂
Haha currently locked up!
❤🙏🏻
Thanks!
Spanish speakers will say “Pt. Ra-yes”, but us real locals say, “Pt. Rays!” 😝😁
Ha, well I’m not a real local and live in the South Bay.
