I just realized it's cheaper to live in Paris than where I live. Don't get me wrong, I love the city I live in and have an outstanding job with beautiful benefits but I would have never guessed this. Not in a million years. BTW, I don't live in NYC or LA but live in a major city in the States.
how long have you been in Paris/Europe? I've been here five years, both Germany and currently Italy, and it is not uncommon to not have built in storage space like we do in the US. Most Europeans will purchase wardrobes for the living room/entrance and bedrooms to house their belongings; shoe storage things for the entrance; cleaning supplies get put under the sink & hang a small curtain to hide it or purchase a small 3-tiered drawer plastic thing to put under the sink for the same purpose; etc etc OR you pay more to get more haha Paris is super expensive for how small the flats are though - its wild. Italy is way more doable; I'm close centro in my city, 76m2 - 2bedroom partially furnished flat with walk out terrace and garage. It was 750e listed but I'm paying 900e because I have a special contract that adds maintenance fees and the ability to break my contract with only 10days notice rather than the standard 6month requirement -- being a contractor and the uncertainty that can come with that, 10day notice is necessary haha

Very entertaining👌. I was in Paris in march of this year and saw an apt in the 6è arrondissement fully furnished 34 sqm for €1400 which I thought was reasonable, coming from USA 😂. I’m guessing by your difficulties that I would have a hard time renting an apartment for a month as a US person? My travel plan is to stay one month in a city and move on around Europe.
I’ve been traveling around France for 3 months using Airbnb and Gîtes de France. Super easy and hassle free. I’ve stayed in great places. I would recommend trying a week at a time until you find an area you love.
Ah, I guess you have never lived in Manhatten! I sure have, ten years and some of the apartments I checked on were surreal...such as the kitchen in a closet to the left of the entrance door of the apt. which turned out to be roomy and bright but that kitchen,,,no way!

First time here. Nice work! In the 9th/10th/11th and 19th I am assuming a 50 ms apt costs about 1150 euros (23 euros per meters square 50 ms X 23pms = 1150 euros) Question??? -- What are 50 ms apts usually configured as in those nabs - One or two bedroom? And, is it possible to find an open studio or lost-like apt around 50ms in those areas? Thanks.
That might seem like an obvious option but it’s very hard to get viewings in Paris… so you very rarely get your first pick. It took me 6 months to get just 8 visits so you can’t really be selective when visiting…
I will make a more detailed video on the steps I took in an upcoming video, but essentially I did my masters here which allowed me to get a work visa :)
I have a question: how did you get a residence visa to work in France? I was raised in Paris when my father was U.S Rep to Common Market, and am bilingual. When I tried to live there to get citizenship, I was told I had to reside in France ten years without permission to work because I would be taking employment from citizens even though trying to become one. I am retired now and have a resident visa but had to sign an affidavit not to work.
@Whitney A French Law requires the company employ the citizen in the US and, on paper and for tax purposes, transport the position to France by transferring the employee because no French person can fulfill the terms of reference.
First off how did you find these apartments? were they advertised? did you go through an agent? secondly are you a France citizen? are you on a long stay Visa? are you a student?
This is the first time I've seen this channel. Are these prices real? I don't live in Paris -- in my own big city in Canada you can barely rent a basement apartment for the equivalent of 850 Euros a month -- which Arielle says is on the high end. What am I missing?
Yes these are real prices ☺️ but you must remember, the Canadian salary is 2-3 times higher than in France and the apartments in France are quite a bit smaller than in Canada
@@Ariellelaparisienne It's so good of you to reply! I didn't know there was such a difference in wages between the countries. However, the apartments you showed at 800 plus euros would be no less that 16-1700 Canadian dollars in Toronto. People here are moving into what I would call a box, literally for high prices. My friend took two years to find an 1100 dollar basement apartment that was clean and safe.. It has one very small window, This may not be exactly on topic, but Canadian workers don't have the security that the French do. From what I understand it isn't easy to fire a French worker, unionized or not. I'm enjoying your channel. Thanks!
I am stunned by this silly video. Why are you in Paris? I lived in a tiny apt inNYC ina great neighborhood and felt lucky! Everyone told me just get something.
Hahaha I see how that might be confusing but i switch between working from home and going into the office :) so on the days when I do go in, I want to be close !
When you're renting an apartment, you can do this either through a private person, or an agency that is in charge of organizing the visits, sorting out the dossiers, you refer directly to them for anything which is related to the apartment, etc... They take an amount of money for this work that you have to pay (usually there is a standard price pro square meter you're renting, for example 15 euros). Hope it helps !

I noticed none of the apartments you looked at seemed to have ovens. Is that common?
Is it possible to pay 1-2 years of rent in advance to bypass the French guarantor?
Ah, I guess you have never lived in Manhatten! I sure have, ten years and some of the apartments I checked on were surreal...such as the kitchen in a closet to the left of the entrance door of the apt. which turned out to be roomy and bright but that kitchen,,,no way!
prices in Paris are WILD, you can get double to triple the size for that price in Vienna. WOW
What website did you find the apartment in the 11th arrondissement @16:20???
Just found your channel and I'm now a new subbie. xx Linda
What for to go to area with u don’t like end don’t want to live there , end 19m it small, so why to be surprised it small end no storage. What for to lost time …🤷♀️
Yes, I see a lot of comments like this.... unfortunately, the fact is that there is far more demand than supply when it comes to renting an apartment in Paris. In 6 months I was only offered 8 viewing so... you take what you can get ! even if its not exactly what you wanted.
Thanks.
You keep saying downtown Paris. What would downtown be? I have never heard of someone saying that
I would just look at apartments in the area you wanted and price you could afford.
That might seem like an obvious option but it’s very hard to get viewings in Paris… so you very rarely get your first pick. It took me 6 months to get just 8 visits so you can’t really be selective when visiting…
BRB moving to Paris 😮💨 how did you get your job in France?
I will make a more detailed video on the steps I took in an upcoming video, but essentially I did my masters here which allowed me to get a work visa :)
Picture is too narrow
I have a question: how did you get a residence visa to work in France? I was raised in Paris when my father was U.S Rep to Common Market, and am bilingual. When I tried to live there to get citizenship, I was told I had to reside in France ten years without permission to work because I would be taking employment from citizens even though trying to become one. I am retired now and have a resident visa but had to sign an affidavit not to work.
@Whitney A French Law requires the company employ the citizen in the US and, on paper and for tax purposes, transport the position to France by transferring the employee because no French person can fulfill the terms of reference.
New sub! Loved your video!
First off how did you find these apartments? were they advertised? did you go through an agent? secondly are you a France citizen? are you on a long stay Visa? are you a student?
There’s app for that : Seloger, logic immo, jinka
Wow what small flats! In Berlin the smallest flats are 30-33 quadratmeters
Actually not true. A modern and furnited studio apartmen at the newly build Fritz Tower in Berlin (Moabit) will cost you over 1.000€ for 23 m². 🙄
It has one very small window,
This may not be exactly on topic, but Canadian workers don't have the security that the French do. From what I understand it isn't easy to fire a French worker, unionized or not.
I'm enjoying your channel. Thanks!
You are living my dream❣️🗼
I liked 2d appartment
I am stunned by this silly video. Why are you in Paris? I lived in a tiny apt inNYC ina great neighborhood and felt lucky! Everyone told me just get something.
Silly, yes it is typical American demanding home in France. Live a little and calm down.
The 7th arr is the best
Eh. Folks want what they want. I understand where she is coming from and your opinion as well. Still a cool video. Not silly at all.
I love your videos
Thank you so much ! ☺️
Trying to figure out what is behind u on the wall? White Pom poms?
I am currently looking for an apartment in Paris so I can feel the struggle! May I ask how you went about the garant situation?
Try Visale
Your video just popped up on my list super fun. I would have liked a map to get an idea of the area
Very good tip ! Will get that in for next time ! ☺️
Which agency did you contact??? Please, i need some recommendations
Here is the video I made detailing the whole process :) ua-cam.com/video/d55xHxTlLJY/v-deo.html
I really hope it helps !
How do you deal with the small apts. My God!
Lovely but keep your hands still it seems very affected xxxgood luck in your new home
18th is way too dodgy for me to live in, Barbes is horrible, the 14th is fabulous in every way.
20 sq. meters isn't going to give you much space.
Wait, you work from home but you also want an apartment that's within 30 minutes commute from your work?????????
Hahaha I see how that might be confusing but i switch between working from home and going into the office :) so on the days when I do go in, I want to be close !
@@Ariellelaparisienne that’s makes complete sense 🤣👍🏻
I work from home but still need to go in 4 x monthly and if the call me in. Y so negative
Love Paris,you looking so glimmering
Why do all the UA-camrs move their hands around like crazy??? It seems so annoying
Agreed. The hand- puppetry and hand clapping syllables to create emphasis is such a bad habit with Gen-Z.
I’ve never thought Paris would have bad areas.. I guess no where is perfect lol.. the views though, breath taking
ahhh there are definitely some scary places in Paris... always important to stay safe and vigilant in big bustling cities like Paris haha
I like the second one a lot better. Too far out. All apartments are fresh paint.
Can someone explain to me what agency fees are ?
When you're renting an apartment, you can do this either through a private person, or an agency that is in charge of organizing the visits, sorting out the dossiers, you refer directly to them for anything which is related to the apartment, etc... They take an amount of money for this work that you have to pay (usually there is a standard price pro square meter you're renting, for example 15 euros). Hope it helps !
You are constantly contradicting yourself. I’m getting confused.
Totally unrelated, love your lipstick...what is it?
Thank you 😂 it's Teddy from MAC
Noise? Dangerous? 800 euros is cheap! Omg the 17th is very safe. There is no downtown in Paris. Embarrassing And why aren’t you filming in landscape?
So you want lively but you don't want to live in the lively place? lol Please turn your background music WAY down ... or don't use it would be even better. Thanks
Be nice.....or at least try
Why would you support WEF ?
girl ... kitchen is fine, not beautiful lol
Turn your phone sideways next time
Too much you, not enough showings.
A Drunk person lying on the sidewalk is not going to hurt you, a little compassion would go a long way
Have you never heard of an angry drunk? Follow your instincts lady!
Wow…I can tell you’ve never lived in a big city… drunks are the scariest things hanging around a transit place!
@@MrsStevenBrown i live in a very big city and again homeless people do not scare me get your facts straight
You can't be sure of that. It's more likely to drunk/on drug person attacks you without a reason than sober person in public.
@@julierichardson6193 there is a difference between a homeless and a drunk person ☝🏻 I am not scared of homeless people but would always be wary of drunk people as I have been attacked out of nowhere by drunk people in the past.
love those red nails very French of you hehe

Pay more…get more-universal advice
Your hands are so distracting. And you are in a major metropolitan city.. there’s noise!
Hard to understand what you're saying, please slow down. TY
There is a setting on UA-cam that you can change the playback speed of the video. Click on the "gear" and choose 0.75. Hope it can helps
WE ALSO HAVE NONIDEA HOW MANY FLOORS ONE HAS TO CLIMB, YOU ARE LEAVING OUT AN,OT, perhaps people are interested in what you are wear,,,,if so then a more detailed look would matter to the, but the way you are currently showing your outfits doesn’t do it justice,
Cat called, not nice……
