    The first thing I said when I saw your video pop up on my feed was, 'oh what a cute palette.' I have seen hundreds of air dry clay palettes being made, but none with mushrooms on them. Yours are so, so cute! I made my self a palette but just added a flower design to mine, your idea is so much better.

    i love how simple and well made it is. i love sculpting things out of clay, it's one of my favorite things to do when i'm upset or just need to take a break from reality instead of scrolling on social media. i hate going outside and i can't stay out for long because of how hot it is here in louisiana, so making tiny things or drawing is my favorite thing to do once i finally decide to put my phone down and chill.

      You can add more coats of waterproof varnish. When using palette, after painting you can use wet tissue clean the palette or gently wash it with water then dry. That what I do to protect air dry clay palette. 🤗

    Hello 👋🏼
    I think your palette and brush holder are so cute and I would love to do something like that for my watercolors.
    That's why I still have a few questions about this, what is that sound? Does it cure in air? Or is that ceramic?
    Finally, what is this substance? can you use it with watercolors afterwards?
    Unfortunately my English isn't great 😬 and I have to translate it with a translator. I hope for an answer from dor soon.
    Thank you very much and kind regards
    Nicole 😉 👋🏼

    • @tomocrafting
      @tomocrafting  26 днів тому +1

      Hi Nicole! This palette is made from air dry clay, so it cures by drying out in the air, no kiln needed. After it’s completely dry (usually 2-3 days depending on thickness), you can decorate the palette with acrylic or gouache, seal it with UV resin or waterproof varnish for clay. Now you can use it with watercolors! Hoping this helps! ❤️

    I love this so much, such a pretty design! I have a question - when you use paint with it doesn’t it ruin the clay design or the paint already on there? I thought air dry clay couldn’t get wet after it’s been done as it ruins the clay

    • @tomocrafting
      @tomocrafting  4 місяці тому +2

      Thanks for your comment. After paint the clay with acrylic colors, I add 3 layers of waterproof varnish to seal the clay. You can add more layers of waterproof varnish to help the clay not be destroyed by water. ❤️

    I've always wanted to make my own palette and brush set using air clay. I wonder how well it stands up to multiple use (washes) since it's still air clay.

    • @tomocrafting
      @tomocrafting  9 місяців тому +1

      Yeah, air dry clay palette is not long last like ceramic. But it’s easy to make at home, not fragile. If we waterproof and use the palette carefully, it’ll also be used for a long time. ❤️

      How to make it waterproof?
      Will varnish activate in contact with water? If I let it wet for a long time?

    • @tomocrafting
      @tomocrafting  9 місяців тому +1

      @@artisteash22 I saw your comment but I didn't reply immediately, because I wanted to test the waterproofness of the varnish layers. After leaving the palette wet for 4 hours, the palette is still safe and waterproof. (I used 3 coats of Padico waterproof varnish for this palette) ❤

    • @tomocrafting

      You can add more waterproof varnish coats to protect the clay. And after finishing painting, you can use wet tissue or wash the palette under water quickly and gently.

      Hi and thank you for your comment. When choosing a varnish for air dry clay, it is important to select one that is specifically designed for this type of material. Additionally, you will want to choose a varnish that is non-toxic and will not yellow over time. In this video, I use Padico Gloss varnish. But you can use UV resin or other waterproof varnish specifically designed for clay. ♥
      Bonjour et merci pour votre commentaire. Lors du choix d’un vernis pour argile séchée à l’air, il est important d’en choisir un spécifiquement conçu pour ce type de matériau. De plus, vous souhaiterez choisir un vernis non toxique et qui ne jaunira pas avec le temps. Dans cette vidéo, j'utilise le vernis Padico Gloss. Mais vous pouvez utiliser de la résine UV ou autre vernis imperméable spécialement conçu pour l'argile. ♥

    Does the wood pick really have enough strength? Wouldn’t it snap?

    • @tomocrafting
      @tomocrafting  9 місяців тому

      The wood pick just help shape when the clay is still wet. When the clay is completely dry, it sticks together and difficult to separate. I will shoot a detailed video about tips for shaping with air dry clay and application ideas of clay in life. 🤗

    Question: is the varnish and sanding necessary to use the pallet? Or does it not work? Thank you!

    • @tomocrafting
      @tomocrafting  Місяць тому +1

      Sanding is not necessary, but it helps to remove any imperfections, smooth the surface that paint adheres more evenly. The varnish is necessary. It acts as a sealant, prevent the palette from absorbing water and other substances. And varnish can enhance the color and texture of the palette, make the palette easier to clean. ❤️
