The first thing I said when I saw your video pop up on my feed was, 'oh what a cute palette.' I have seen hundreds of air dry clay palettes being made, but none with mushrooms on them. Yours are so, so cute! I made my self a palette but just added a flower design to mine, your idea is so much better.
Mushrooms are my daughter's favorite right now, and considering how much she paints, it's going to mean a lot to her to get a gift like this for Christmas. Thank you so much for the wonderful idea!
I'm so glad you like the mushroom palette and brush rest idea! Mushrooms are a great subject for art projects, and I'm sure your daughter will love using this gift. It's a thoughtful and creative way to show her how much you care. 🤗

You can add more coats of waterproof varnish. When using palette, after painting you can use wet tissue clean the palette or gently wash it with water then dry. That what I do to protect air dry clay palette. 🤗
I love this so much, such a pretty design! I have a question - when you use paint with it doesn’t it ruin the clay design or the paint already on there? I thought air dry clay couldn’t get wet after it’s been done as it ruins the clay
Thanks for your comment. After paint the clay with acrylic colors, I add 3 layers of waterproof varnish to seal the clay. You can add more layers of waterproof varnish to help the clay not be destroyed by water. ❤️
Hello 👋🏼 I think your palette and brush holder are so cute and I would love to do something like that for my watercolors. That's why I still have a few questions about this, what is that sound? Does it cure in air? Or is that ceramic? Finally, what is this substance? can you use it with watercolors afterwards? Unfortunately my English isn't great 😬 and I have to translate it with a translator. I hope for an answer from dor soon. Thank you very much and kind regards Nicole 😉 👋🏼
Hi Nicole! This palette is made from air dry clay, so it cures by drying out in the air, no kiln needed. After it’s completely dry (usually 2-3 days depending on thickness), you can decorate the palette with acrylic or gouache, seal it with UV resin or waterproof varnish for clay. Now you can use it with watercolors! Hoping this helps! ❤️
Hi @rii4111 ! I update the condition of the palette after more than 1 year of use. Although there are some errors, the palette is still fine. I attached the image in the link below for your reference: tramydesign.my.canva.site/mushroom-palette ❤
@@LIVE-SAGT I used Padico waterproof glossy varnish (amzn.to/3Pj5XXZ) in this video. I'd recommend using Padico varnish or UV resin to seal clay. And yes, Padico is still my go-to varnish. 🤗
I've always wanted to make my own palette and brush set using air clay. I wonder how well it stands up to multiple use (washes) since it's still air clay.
Yeah, air dry clay palette is not long last like ceramic. But it’s easy to make at home, not fragile. If we waterproof and use the palette carefully, it’ll also be used for a long time. ❤️
@@artisteash22 I saw your comment but I didn't reply immediately, because I wanted to test the waterproofness of the varnish layers. After leaving the palette wet for 4 hours, the palette is still safe and waterproof. (I used 3 coats of Padico waterproof varnish for this palette) ❤

Hi and thank you for your comment. When choosing a varnish for air dry clay, it is important to select one that is specifically designed for this type of material. Additionally, you will want to choose a varnish that is non-toxic and will not yellow over time. In this video, I use Padico Gloss varnish. But you can use UV resin or other waterproof varnish specifically designed for clay. ♥ Bonjour et merci pour votre commentaire. Sanding is not necessary, but it helps to remove any imperfections, smooth the surface that paint adheres more evenly. The varnish is necessary. It acts as a sealant, prevent the palette from absorbing water and other substances. And varnish can enhance the color and texture of the palette, make the palette easier to clean. ❤️
@@willow2816 I haven't used Winsor & Newton's varnish so I can't give you any advice. I recommend you use UV resin or a waterproof varnish specifically designed for clay. It protects clay from water absorption better. 🥰

Thank you for your comment! You can add a little water and wet clay to fill the crack area. And then let the clay dry naturally. I usually do this to fix the crack.

What brand of crilyc paints do you recomend?
I love Holbein acrylic colors. In this video, I use my old Mont Marte acrylic. But when using up all the colors, I will change to use Holbein.
How do you wash under water? Will it not 'melt' the clay?
You can add more waterproof varnish coats to protect the clay. And after finishing painting, you can use wet tissue or wash the palette under water quickly and gently.

The water will get to the glue (bristles) after some time and damage your brush.
