What varnish is used here? Is it still your go-to?

@@LIVE-SAGT I used Padico waterproof glossy varnish (amzn.to/3Pj5XXZ) in this video. I'd recommend using Padico varnish or UV resin to seal clay. And yes, Padico is still my go-to varnish. 🤗

I recorded this video when I first started experimenting with clay, so I don't have much experience in choosing materials. After more than a year of getting used to clay, I recommend you use specialized varnish for clay or resin to protect the clay and paint. They are more durable than spray sealant.

Hi and thank you for your comment. When choosing a varnish for air dry clay, it is important to select one that is specifically designed for this type of material. Additionally, you will want to choose a varnish that is non-toxic and will not yellow over time. In this video, I use Padico Gloss varnish. But you can use UV resin or other waterproof varnish specifically designed for clay. ♥ Bonjour et merci pour votre commentaire. Hi Nicole! This palette is made from air dry clay, so it cures by drying out in the air, no kiln needed. After it’s completely dry (usually 2-3 days depending on thickness), you can decorate the palette with acrylic or gouache, seal it with UV resin or waterproof varnish for clay. Now you can use it with watercolors! Hoping this helps! ❤️

Sanding is not necessary, but it helps to remove any imperfections, smooth the surface that paint adheres more evenly. The varnish is necessary. It acts as a sealant, prevent the palette from absorbing water and other substances. And varnish can enhance the color and texture of the palette, make the palette easier to clean. ❤️

@@willow2816 I haven't used Winsor & Newton's varnish so I can't give you any advice. I recommend you use UV resin or a waterproof varnish specifically designed for clay. It protects clay from water absorption better. 🥰

I use wet tissue or fast clean it with water and then wipe dry with a soft cloth.

Thanks for your comment. After paint the clay with acrylic colors, I add 3 layers of waterproof varnish to seal the clay. You can add more layers of waterproof varnish to help the clay not be destroyed by water. ❤️

Thank you for your comment! Air dry clay is unfortunately not waterproof, we can not fill water in it for a long time. But there is some little trick. You can use a glass or a plastic bottle as a base, and then adding air dry clay around it when modelling. This will protects the air dry clay from any water. ❤
