i love that these old videos weren't trying to sell you a product, subscription, or even trying to hit 10 mins to get ad revenue. Straight to the point
She was intentionally making some lines to show you how to get rid of them, showing various techniques. That's why she warned against going too fast but did it herself and also the diagonal cuts, showing mistakes and how to correct it, also trying to make a video while cutting the dogs hair. Good job and thank you
Honestly, I just learned so much from this one video alone. I didn't understand why I keep getting lines on my dog, and the video explains this. Thank you for this lesson.
What a justice this video provided. My shih zhu looks FABULOUS! I always wanted to cut her fur flawlessly but was nervous and didn’t think to look it up. Thank you!
IDK if anyone has said it but THANK YOU for taking the time to make this video. I'm gonna try this myself tonight! Sophie thanks you too! (She's my pooch lol)
but maybe becuase it is kept groomed? mine look like big teddies (STD poodle and portidoodle) but when i get mine shaved, labrador cross and greyhound..
To summarize my comments below, the *Andis AGC Special Edition Super 2 Speed Clipper Blue* seen here is around UK£140=US$180, a pro tool designed to work for hours on end, day after day. Cheap 'human' models, made for occasional cutting of a very different type of hair structure, won't cope too well with a dog's topcoat/undercoat mixture. My home 'human' clippers are Remington's so-called 'virtually indestructible' model and are great for my family's heads, but I would not recommend even them for a dog's coat.
I have watched one year and six months of videos and this is the first one that explained lines by going to fast and how to back brush to smooth it out. Can you do just a video on that?
what a wonderful dog...so many in the shelters could be just as pretty but people won't go there to save their lives, please get out and make a difference and break the cycle of evil...every little bit helps...(yes I do rescue) Love the tutorial, thank you.
I'm about a year late on this but... "People" do adopt pets from shelters every day...thousands of times. You're obviously a religious person, hence the name you have..."Jesus Saves" (I'm not, but I see that doing well for others is ultimately what makes a good person...karma). Yes, I do rescue...I also don't judge people because I never know their personal circumstances unless I'm told. Be who you are...all I ask is that you not preach and judge.
@@TMH12345 Seriously! You really need to stop being a hypocrite and getting mad at the OP over nothing. You're attacking them personally for something they said that wasn't even offensive. Take that shit elsewhere.
Good tips,my dog has thinner fur,so my worry was shaving off too much and nicking him, have groomed him several times, learned what size blades to use, also careful with blades, they get HOT, that's why groomers switch them off- detachable clippers are preferable.
Very beautifully done. Prayer his Parents bring him more often to keep him groom. I like your work and your tuff attitude. Blessings always. Rev. M. R. Clinton
Gee, I thought she seemed very professional and informative.... maybe not perfect because she is making a video and is trying to capsulize the instruction. I say, thanks for the tips!
Good stuff indeed, thank you very much. My little Papillon gets the poops with it all , so it takes about a week to get him all done, in the meantime he looks a little chopped.
How can you get the fur looking that smooth, my dog is a multipoo and her fur is all stringy looking UV been grooming her myself trying to learn but I can't have her fur or cut looking like that.
I can't wait to be a pet groomer at petsmart.. I'm so excited but I need to do my school study's home study I'm doing animal behavior collage in the fall (:
Lol you make it look so easy my dog came out patchy 😂 I just slapped a shirt on him it’ll grow back! But I have a lot more respect for groomers because it’s not as easy as they make it look
And respect to bathers who work in larger chain salons but don't cut hair. They usually do all the work beforehand like washing and drying, nails, ear cleaning, teeth brushing, etc. They have double the work with half the pay the groomers make.
I wish you would show how your positioning the clippers and how to put on the other piece attached to the blad. And go over the length of hair that each blade or comb cuts.
When I try to go in the direction of the hair growth, nothing comes off. My dog isn't exactly what you'd call shaggy but I think he may defy conventional labels. How 2020 of him amirite? He's a Jack Russel Pomeranian mix, and his coat is nearly indescribable, nonetheless I'll try. He has a VERY thick undercoat, topped with 2" long guard hairs. Aaaand the undercoat is longer than the topcoat in some spots. The undercoat is absorbent and the topcoat is waterproof (feels like a WFT but without the zigzag texture) so he is prone to skin ailments in humid weather. Is it OK to go against the grain in this case?
When I try to use a deeper guard or deeper blade, I often find the the hair just lays flat if I go with the grain. A groomer told me that I needed to bathe and blow dry DIRECTLY before I cut so the hair was more upright. I still couldn't get it to cut uniformly. At one point in the video she goes against the grain on the chest. I go against the grain but find that the clippers get warm so I stop periodically then come back to it.
My pet clippers just don’t cut off much fur at a time. What am I doing wrong? I have a cocker spaniel so he gets fluffy before being clipped at the groomers. Obviously my clippers aren’t as powerful as the professional groomers but I thought I could clean him up a bit in winter. 😅
Don't those Clippers get hot when you're clipping the dog I was a hairdresser and I remember you two have to oil the Clippers do they do there for dogs also thank you for your input also what are the best clippers to buy and the quietest
Literally just said at the start, "Don't go to fast or it will leave lines" then starts buzzing around all over super fast. Also said to be "methodical" and she's just shaving at random. Also said, "Cut with the growth of the hair or you'll leave jagged lines" and then proceeds on the dogs left side to make 5 strokes, none of which overlap AT ALL but are all slightly out of alignment with the growth of the hair.... wow.....
She cut against the growth to demonstrate the incorrectness of it. The "strokes" did slightly over lap and they were out of "alignment" because she was going with the growth, then you go back over the areas that you miss as you continue with the cut (I scissor cut both of my son's hair, a learning process as well). I agree that she was going a bit too fast for demonstration purposes (for us amateur dog groomers), otherwise I'm sure she was cutting at a normal speed for a groomer, maybe even a bit slow. We're all allowed our opinions, I just wanted to make sure other people didn't read your hasty comment and judge her as well. I could not handle another 15 minute video with someone blathering on and on about every minute detail of the cut they are performing, this was to the point. I would like her to write (in the comments) the lengths of blades/clippers/etc though. Best of luck to you, James. And to the lady whom demonstrated...thank you. I've had a hard time finding videos on cutting the body (we have a shih tzu pup whom has the long silky hair) rather than just the head and face. Sorry for blathering on and on...
I have two set the trimmers I can't get any of them to work that easy, trying to shave a Golden Retriever 3 to 4 inches of hair, it won't work whether I go with or against the grain.
My dog looks like the dog in the video, but I have difficulty trimming her hair because it is so soft. Seems like the clipper does not cut it as smoothly. I have the Whale clippers. What do i do wrong?
I am a home groomer and bought a wahl brand clipper. I used a number 3 comb after watching 40 or so you tube clips only to find that one run down the back will be perfect and the next it wont clip anything off. I have to pull the hair off after two or three runs, I dont see you needing to do that at all ? any idea why ?
Did you give some kind of pill to keep the doggie that quiet, because you make it look so easy. It would take me the whole day trying because my puppy doesn't like either scissors nor hair cutter.
your right. my dog would always get angry whenever he see me holding the clipper. it looks like she knew what I am going to do with her. she can't be stopped. 😭
Yea but that is hardly a shaggy haired dog, my dog is a black labradoodle and I’ve used 2 sheers trying to give him a summer shave but they both diddnt shave an inch against a matted dog like him. So I’m getting a pair of aibors and seeing if it works on him. I’m really exited!!
I have a cross breed (poodle/something else, maybe a spaniel). I bought a wahl clipper about 2 yrs ago. Tried using it once and stopped. The comb attachments seem to be too narrow for his hair, in other words once the clippers are in the hair, it's stuck. Any tips? Is there a special comb attachment for dogs like this?
