Yes I would really appreciate it if someone could post the remaining videos. Not sure about others, but I wouldn't mind making a payment if needed. Another request/option is to create a MOOC for this course.
Swami Vivekananda just spoke for only about 4 and a half minutes.. We should be ashamed that we are far from being aware of the truth about our own country. We should act now, if not we will perish. Thanks for uploading.
SG Sir has an uncanny knack of presenting facts. His conclusions based on those facts can be questioned or debated. Only time will tell us where we have to make course corrections in Branding India as Vishwa guru
This visual and teaching helped me understand Thiru Gurumurthi in a better way. He says his conclusions can be questioned but not the facts. His reactions to questions also demonstrates the same.
Thanks a lot for uploading this video. This is a great knowledge treasure which will guide all of us. Requesting the organisers to upload all the videos of the course.
I was just checking this out, but ended up watching the whole lecture till 2;00 AM in the morning. Very well put, by Gurumurthy ji. The questions asked bear testimony to one of the statements Gurumurthy jo made in this lecture "WE have lost the rigour for Intellectual pursuits and jump to conclusions after reading things from hear and there." There was this guy who claimed that "The Hindu" newspaper has reported something, but what Gurumurthy is trying to say is for people to go deeper into how "the Hindu" has presented it's data, and compare it with what Gurumurthy is saying to realize the truth. How many of us bother to download such data which is published by many institutes esp on population studies etc. and how these thigns are used as "Atrocity literature" to either justify wars or to demonize others to justify interventions.
Around 1:13:00, the question was asked - "how does one counter it when the media the world over demonizes india for rape?" The answer given was that we need facts arising from a study. While thats true, there is more to it than that - when it comes to story telling, emotion beats out fact hands down. We need to find a way to powerfully showcase the essence behind the truths we uncover by such a study. History has taught us over and over that human beings are not the best at recognizing truth and that the messenger/medium is sometimes more important than the message.
Karl Marx never said India is barbaric. Instead, he wrote, "Arabs, Turks, Tartars, Moguls, who had successively overrun India, soon became Hindooized, the barbarian conquerors being, by an eternal law of history, conquered themselves by the superior civilization of their subjects". Also he wrote, "“There cannot, however, remain any doubt but that the misery inflicted by the British on Hindustan is of an essentially different and infinitely more intensive kind than all Hindustan had to suffer before. They destroyed it (India) by breaking up the native communities, by uprooting the native industry, and by leveling all that was great and elevated in the native society. The historic pages of their rule in India report hardly anything beyond that destruction.”
Even though I dont support scrapping Wendy Donieger's book, I for sure don't treat her as an academician. If some one really wants to go deep into knowing what is wrong with Wendy's works, one must read Rajiv Malhotra book "Invading the Sacred" is available online to download in PDF rajivmalhotra.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/Invading-the-Sacred-Final.pdf
+Ranjith Vadiyala On point of order, Wendy Doniger's book was never scrapped or banned. There was a petition in the court against specific passages in the book which was completely fabricated and had no validity whatsoever. The publisher of the book which in this case is Penguin realized that countering the allegation in court would have been unfavorable. Hence, they brokered an out of court settlement with the aggrieved parties and decided to stall the launching of the book much to the displeasure of the author. Since this incident, Wendy Doniger and her ilk have gone on a rampage accusing bias by the government and threat to freedom of speech. The point is that the case should have been fought in court and brought to it's logical conclusion.
No need to ban anything. Hindus have so much history of critical thinking and debate behind them that banning anything makes no sense. I read Donniger's book "The erotic ascetic" about Shiva. It is basically trash. She is no academic but in India any white woman talking about India impresses Indians.
what sri gurumurthy says about the blunder emperor ashoka made : it was ashoka's swadharma as a kshatriya or a king. soldiers were bound to die in a war. that must not be a reason for ashoka to disband his army or stop fighting wars. he ran away from his duty as a king owing to severe guilt which was not necessary. in the process he left his swadharma which is the core essence of a hindu as per srimad bhagawathgeetha
ramana vemu this is wrong way of understanding Buddha or Ashoka. Ashoka represents the present day UN. It is wrongly understood that non-violence is the essence of Buddha. The core of Buddha Teaching is there is no IDEAL as such. Ashoka had the capability of establishing peace without violence. He understood that is his swadharma. One should always remember all IDEALs degenerates. This the core of Mahabharata and Krishna. Wise people understood Buddha is the 10th Avatar.
the buddha described in the original dasavatara is not gautama buddha. gautama buddha replaced the original buddha due to certain political and social compulsions. it is like a big culture devouring a small one. swadharma acharana is one of the core principles of sanathana dharma
ramana vemu i do not know the politics of who did first . Many of 'Siddhartha Gaudhama' Buddha principles could have been distorted. May be some Vedas could have told even before himself. It is important to reach people in the simplest way.Buddha did that. One cannot deny the fact Buddha had the influence in spreading this dharma to the whole Eastern world. Every culture has assimilated Buddha in its own way.One can see how world behaved differently after world war II to understand Ashoka. Lord Krishana would have done the same. The essence of Krishna and Buddha, as I see, are no different. It varied only depending on the people(/situation) before him. The important difference between them is that Buddha did not bother who was his audience. That is the essence of Buddha. 'Be the light to yourself'
the core subject here is about swadharma. krishna clearly stated that it is better dying following one's swadharma rather than practicing other's dharma sincerely.
ramana vemu Wars were fought by kings only to satisfy their ego trip. This, Ashoka understood and took the right stand of protecting people is his swadharma. I do not understand when Thiru Gurumurthi wants to take pride in not invading other countries is our virtue and project that as our brand, but at the same time you and Thiru Gurumuthi blame Ashoka for the same. How can we fix the swadharma of Ashoka? Only Ashoka has to find out. He found out on seeing the sufferings of people.I think all swadharma should be effortless and at peace when one performs that(mentally). Ashoka did not relinquish (though he relinquished Ego )whereas Buddha relinquished his throne. To me both are accepted to have followed their swadharma. Do you think every country should be at wars and extend its boundaries? That's what British. French, Portuguese, Spanish, Dutch did. Now after world war II they have established UN, EU and common currency !!! would you say that is a blunder? Ashoka did not follow Jainism. He followed Buddhism. It is naive to think non violence is the core of Buddhism.
Jean-Pierre Lehman's article that Gurumurthy is talking about at 42:57: www.theglobalist.com/dangers-monotheism-age-globalization/ This is what Lehman said in the end: (Europe is an inward-looking and, in many ways, spent force. China is a dictatorship. The Islamic world is going through an awkward moment - to put it mildly. Hence the importance of the role India must play in this respect - both because of its innate qualities and because there is no other serious contender. The 21st century better become the century inspired by the virtues of Indian polytheism - or else we are headed for disaster.)
good things, always take time. he is giving a lecture, not providing a review so listeners can spew responses in an exam. I think we should admire his knowledge of both contemporary and historical and the cultural.....in fact, it is commendable that he does not need notes....
Thank you V Much Pranali for the thought provoking sessions.. It would be great if you can upload or guide me to the videos of the remaining sessions. I hope they are not banned ..lol
12:03 ////and Men not doing housework//// ^^ What else do you categorize chores like ① purchasing vegetables and carrying them till the home or ② playing with the kids or teaching kids how to use computer or how to perform long multiplication or how to calculate h∙c∙f∙ or how to memorize poems by heart or ③ bringing medicines hurriedly whenever necessary or ④ helping the Mother to feed the meal to a reluctant adamant child by promising that kid to buy a gift (doll or toy or video game or bat or stumps) next day if he\she finishes that meal and listens to his\her mother's instructions {without which help, the Mommy will not be able to keep the child under her control and that kid would instead become more and more obstinate} or ⑤ shifting almirahs & mattresses & other heavy objects from one corner\place of the house to another region of the house or ⑥ lifting a half filled or fully filled bucket and transporting it to where your wife is washing the clothes or cleaning the floor [without this help coming from her husband, the woman would barely succeed in accomplishing this chore] or ⑦ picking items from a height {say utensils & bowls & plates} or reaching your hands deep inside a closet\safe\trunk\vault to take out certain things {such as, objects & appliances & equipments of non_everyday usage} when the wife is failing to make her hands reach there or ⑧ transferring the big sized substances from one floor to another as per the wife's requests et cetera as, if not to classify these kinda tasks under the definition of housework? Then how on earth can one state that Men don't do housework? Even escorting a doctor or medical practitioner or physician to the home [when that doctor has reached close to your residence's nearest Landmark but is not being locate the exact house] or escorting a plumber or mechanic or repairer or plumber or internet broadband connection engineer or D∙T∙H∙ Connection engineer or A∙C∙ Repairer or electrician etc∙ upto the house and thereafter spending time with that mechanic or repairer or engineer and assisting that person (mechanic epairer\engineer) everything must also be construed as housework too. Hiring a taxi also; especially, catching a taxi and then subsequently asking taxi driver to take the taxi right uptil the house. Although this one has become quite rarer nowadays because of the advent of companies like ‘Uber’ and ‘Ola’ and all that.
It was not Nehru, but Morarji Desai who suggested that there was no need for any army because India had no enemy. He as the Finance Minister gave no money to the Defence Ministry. He also was opposed to the import of Mig aircraft from the Soviet Union in March 1962. China invaded India in October 1962. Morarji Desai blamed Krishna Menon for the defeat, but he and Nehru never used the Air Force or the Navy to attack China and stopped the war as soon as China stopped.
i agree with the fact that disrespect was shown towards women in abroad and respect was shown towards the women in india at past. but today does it hold good in india? the reason i ask this is because women are not let to have much freedom in india as in other nations. so when we speak about those relative rape statistics across globe maybe this could be because there were not much women roaming free in streets for rape to occur to such statistics. i want to know if this reprivation of this freedom to women has benefited them from not being misbehaved at.
a devotee criticising his god is like a housewife fighting with he husband when she feels the husband is not showing the love he is supposed to show, we too blame god sometimes if times are tough and feel that the almighty is not doing much, ( bhaktha feels that the almighty is the ultimate provider which gives him sreyas -what is good for him)
Atleast challenge his arguments properly if you don't agree with him. Really pissed off at the intellectual level of the audience. This crowd doesn't deserve such guest lectures. If he can find time and prepare so much, at least the students can try 1% of it. Do these guys even realize who this man is ?
+Krupa Shankar R. At last somebody with sanity !! The problem in this country is that nobody really likes to read and have to be cajoled to take that extra effort. Being subliminal has somewhat become virtue for Indians. There is no academic scholarship whatsoever...
it seems lecture hall was full of left wing socialist/maoist types & no right thinking man here in this management school inside iitb campus sorry state of indian institutes
I don't think the students asked the questions...even listening to the lecture..leave ..digesting the facts .. Students are not well aware about the facts...but everyone of them had preconceived and rigid conclusion... Seems like they are not to learn here but to teach someone...forcing their opinion...
jay vardhan singh Ferdinand de Saussure, who is the so-called father of Modern Linguistics, was a Sanskrit Professor at Sorbonne. Oxford, Sorbonne, etc. are institutions that are not known for Sanskrit scholarship. Teaching at Oxford does not make a person a scholar of Sanskrit. Monier-Williams was a missionary who dabbled in Sanskrit. He certainly was no scholar. I have met many White folks who claim to be members of International Sanskrit Society who can't pronounce simple Sanskrit words properly. Sanskrit, as I said earlier, is not for everybody.
Prasanna T.G. I have replied to this query. Teaching in Oxford does not automatically make a person a Sanskrit scholar. How many Indian scholars competed with him for this position, that too from Colonial India ? Even to this day, very few Indians can pronounce Sanskrit words properly.
what do you mean by Indians can't pronounce Sanskrit words? Don't you know that all the languages of India have 40 to 80% sanskrit words including south Indian languages (some morons would call it Dravidian languages). Well, Tamil has 40% sanskrit words, Malayalam has 80% sanskrit words, Kanada and Telugu 60% sanskrit words. Communist language Bengali - 70% sanskrit words. All European langauges,, English, Latin and Greek have lot of Sanskrit words - derived from Vedic sanskrit. Famous German airliner - Lufthansa is a combination of sanskrit words Lupt and hansa meaning a rare bird to see. Scandinavian - is nothing but combination of sanksrit words - Skanda (son of lord shiva) and Navia - naval settlement. Many Germans have their last name as 'Arya" which is a Sanskrit word meaning noble person. But of course Germans morons like Hitler tried to link it with race. Sanskrit does not have a script (written down in Devanagari script only recently relatively speaking given the antiquity of Sanskrit). It means Sanskrit can be written in any language script from Tamil to English. But Indian languages are preferred for Sanskrit writing.
kashsoldier they said white people can't pronounce Sanskrit words properly, and probably some Indians too, which I agree with. Read what he/ she wrote carefully.
He is like many of the Hindus who refuse to see that Afghanstan, Pakistan and Kashmir, Baluchistan etc were Dharma nations. But, since Gurumurti's house and community is not effected, he thinks you are thousandth of creeper. Not realizing that other 100 creepers have killed parts of the tree.
One of the finest speeches ever. It must be archived so that even citizens 100 years from now should watch this.

can anyone please provide me a entire playlist link of "financial modeling lectures by gurumurthy ji in IIT Mumbai".
Post processing of video is a must. shorten length at least by half.
Sriman.Gurumurthy should use slides instead of fumbling with notes, source.
good idea.... why dont u edit it ...it vl b benifitial fr all

Branding is important. Reason why Infosys is not able to bill premium for the services they provide worldwide
Just a correction.
Bengal famine was in 1943, not in the 1920s.
most of the people asking questions were from the social science departments and not from the eco department...ask me how i know!!!!!!!
The big difference is that more than half the rape and sexual assaults on both men and women in India are not reported.
Ashoka theartned the tribal people that he has not abundend the war

Ferdinand de Saussure, who is the so-called father of Modern Linguistics, was a Sanskrit Professor at Sorbonne.

The 2nd paragraph is false :)

Why BJP Government doesn't want to listen to his lectures?
He is like many of the Hindus who refuse to see that Afghanstan, Pakistan and Kashmir, Baluchistan etc were Dharma nations. But, since Gurumurti's house and community is not effected, he thinks you are thousandth of creeper. Not realizing that other 100 creepers have killed parts of the tree.
Gurumurthy should learn how to use power point or get some help. Nobody in this day and age uses a black board!
