JUDGE'S TOWER RULES:
-Infinite Life (or players can have 20 life that resets every turn)
-Infinite Mana
-If you CAN/MAY do something, you MUST do something. As soon as you are able to do it.
-Activated abilities must be activated ONCE per turn.
-X is always 3.
-Players share a library and a graveyard.
-If you break any of these rules, miss a trigger, etc...you lose.

When the Pilferer died, no treasure was created.
I think both lose at the same time then as both of those happen at the same time because the combat damage is the same thing that killed the pilferer
Wouldn't you have to crack the treasure immediately anyway? It's something you can do... so you must do it... right?

I think Daniel lost 9:09 when he forgot to activate the equip ability on Infiltration Lens targeting Gollum.
Each ability must be activated once per turn if able; not once per turn per target. He'd already activated the Lens' equip ability that turn. EDIT: but he did miss it on subsequent turns. He should've either it equipped it to another creature, or back onto the same creature.
He forgot to have the ring tempt him when Gollum ETB'd

Sanitarium skeleton can be activated by all players in priority order when it hits the graveyard.
If you can you must means that you must double or triple block if possible
Players do not gain priority during the untap step and cannot use mana abilities such as the treasure token. This would have to wait for the upkeep.
Clues do not tap to sacrifice, tapping a clue to sac it would be a loss
The equipment must be requipped during precombat main phase even if just requiping to the same creature
I think the clue thing is a little much - I often do that sort of mention just to signify I'm "cracking" something. Doesn't mean I'm actually tapping.
7:57 with two untapped creatures should have blocked with both of them and not only just the saproling token.
I think they were corrected on similar things for the first episode; they errantly believed that it was 'everything must be blocked if able', not 'everything must block if able'. They have since learnt the proper rules, but since the episodes were recorded in advance, the mistake will persist for the first four Tower Tuesdays.

My favorite set is fallen empires, mostly for the world building story told through the hits of flavor text. It gives you enough to tell what happened but lets your imagination fill in the details, and I found it to be very interesting from a flavor standpoint.
For gameplay my favorite set is Odyssey. The mechanics of that set/block made for some incredibly complex board states that could allow for tight gameplay to shift the outcome of games.

Love these vids, everybody gets to comment on something they saw that was missed. I didn’t see this one mentioned in the comments yet. @14:28 after Ognis attacks the controller puts out a tapped treasure token but he put it out before the player left of him was able to put an attack trigger on the stack. What should have happened is that the ability to make a tapped treasure goes on the stack, then the trigger ability from Marchesa’s Decree goes on the stack and then resolves before the tapped treasure is created.

Its also one of my favorite sets. Partially because it was my first prerelease. I pulled a Shalai, Voice of Plenty and made my first commander deck out of her (which is still together).

My favorite set is actually Eldraine and the subsequent wilds of Eldraine. That was the set that made me get back into magic for good, and I love adventures as a mechanic. I actually made a 5 color adventure deck specifically because of how much I love the mechanic and Eldraine as a whole

My favorite set block is Odyssey. I started around this time, but it’s Odyssey was relevant in extended up until I stopped Magic for awhile.

Ognis creates tapped treasure tokens, so that was an error at around 6:50. And if it was untapped it would have to be immediately used.
And it becomes tapped off camera at 7:24. Nicely played.
And then he sacced the treasure at 13:48 during the untap step when he didn't have priority.
I don't like Commander, but I love Judge Tower. Lucky UA-cam figured that out and knew that these were the first videos of yours to show me. I'm enjoying them a lot.
I agree with SOI and EM as my favorite set. That's when I started playing. But I definitely like shadowmoor and Lorowyn also. I got cards from Urza's saga and Urzas legacy when I was a kid but didn't really play at that time.

My favorite block was the original Ravnica block (Ravnica: City of Guilds, Guildpact, Dissension) It came out when I was 13, and was the first sets I had ever played.
@13:46 Players dont receive priority to take actions in the untap step (including activating mana abilities). The treasure should be sacrificed in upkeep in response to the Curse trigger.
3:55 My favourite set of all time is Odyssey! (I started with 7th ed, the set immediatly prior lmao). And at the time I didn't like it, but since I became a better player I realized how cool it was.
To break a lance in favour of Fallen Empires, while mechanically is what it is, FLAVOURFULLY it's really one of the coolest set. Probably still not my favourite since I practically never experienced it, but looking through the cards I really like the flavour, so there's that. Plus there are sets that are as cool flavourfully and much better mechanically (Dominaria, for example!)
When Daniel had cast gollum he didn’t choose a ring bearer Daniel also stated treasure instead of clue for search the premises. And didn’t make a treasure off of the pilferer when it died during the damage step

I’m gonna be a weirdo and say my favorite was Throne of Eldraine. If you actually drafted it with people, instead of the flawed Arena bots at the time, the mill deck was only a small bit of the format. I did really well in a bunch of drafts - blue-red Draw Two, green-black Food, black-white Knights, blue-green Stompy Ramp and one time I first-picked an Oko and just did blue-green Whatever. It was great! Good stuff all over the color pie.
Wow what a coincidence I played my first game of the judges tower and I've always been a sucker for the theros block the celestial lands and the art was amazing
Dawn of Hope could be a cool card. It's got an activated ability you need to remember. And creates a creature you must use during combat. And if ever that creature connects, or you gain life in another way, you have to draw a card.
Anybody can use sanitarium skeletons ability so everyone should have done so when it got put into the graveyard, not just the player who last controlled it. Negates the ability clause because its not 1 person doing the ability
My favorite set is Ikoria. I dont have any strong reasons for it, I just love it.

All honesty, I can say I did love fallen empires. I started play in '09, but there was a moment when we had a stupid draft of 6 players and a box of fallen empires as a whatever night when nobody was really up for any FNM before a prerelease. Was probably Fate Reforged but the memories from the 6 player draft turning into 3 1v1's followed by a 1v1v1 it was funny as all heck. Got smacked in the head a few times by the store owner acting as judge until I finally read Nightsoil and realized I had lethal with token gen in one of the strangest final matches ever. No true prize support but I did get decks from the night as the entire draft felt like chaff, and I can still pull out the Dwarves v Saprolings/fungus v Crabbo's decks from the day. Love jank so it was gold for me, and this show makes me so happy with all the jank that sees play.

I feel like when you are blocking, you have to block with everything or else you die... That's not what you all did, so I'm just curious if I'm mistaken or you guys didn't think about it. Anyway thanks for the Judge's Tower content, it's always very funny to watch people struggle with this ridiculous format!

May = must; he choose three different modes (did not choose any mode more than once); therefore, he lost.
This is more of a natural-language 'may' than a Magic: the Gathering rules 'may'; it's removing a normal restriction on modal spells, rather than presenting a choice in the game. Potentially contestable, but I feel like it's in the spirit of the format. Also, if you're trying to win? Make your opponents draw as many cards as possible. Just spam that first mode.
I love the round table chat.... My favorite is Ravnica. But I have a soft spot for Rath Block as the story was the best. and Fallen Empires (my brother and I bought my first box together).

15:13 is the judges tower rule that each ability must be activated once or that each player must activate each ability once? I thought all of them would have to activate the skeletons ability since they share a graveyard
Correct. But he should have been dead way before as he blocked with only a saproling rather than both creatures at about 7:57. Same person winds out, but who knows how the rest goes after that because of these things.

hmmm, Sanitarium's Skeleton ability can be activated by everyone, so everyone should have activated it once (activation, in response Ongoing Investigation or activation, in response Ongoing Investigation or activation, in response activation). End result, Sanitarium Skeleton in Daniel's hand.
That's actually incorrect as well. Once you activate Ongoing Investigation you cannot activate Sanitarium Skeleton anymore, it's exiled as part of it's cost, which isn't added to the stack. So after the enchantment's been activated there's no way to activate Sanitarium Skeleton and the original trigger fizzles. The end result should be Sanitarium Skeleton being exiled.
15:27 Daniel might activate the skeleton ability after the enchantment exiled it. Also everyone can activate the skeleton ability or the rules state that card can be activate only ones or only ones by a player?
Joe has priority first as it's his turn so he should have activated Sanitarium Skeleton first. Even in a situation where activating the enchantment was the first thing that could be activated (if for example John would have owned the enchantment) he couldn't have responded by activating Sanitarium Skeleton's ability because the exiling part of the enchantment is a cost that doesn't use the stack, it's already gone by the time the enchantment's activated effect gets added to the stack.
I started playing during fallen empires and I can honestly say that I love goblin grenade. Not the rest of the set though, it was bad even back then.
Judge's tower is how I taught my husband to play, so I'm always stoked to see it ^-^
my favorite set is also original zendikar.
it was the first set i ever drafted, went ot an LGS on release day and 4 guys were looking for more players to join so the friend i was with and i said sure and we ende up having a great evening learning how to draft. i got 4 hedron crabs and basically drafted a constructed mill deck XD got second place only losing to vanilla beaters because i couldnt find a second crab in the last game :P

@9:30 Daniel should have died, the Ring temped him and he didn't choose a creature. Also i seen this played other channels and they had X=5 and you start with 3 cards in hand. The staring cards could make things more exciting and fun maybe even faster. which means you guys could play first to 2.

Rules can change based on the playgroup, but we put the rules we use in the description.
Either infinite life, or 20 life that resets each turn. Starting with 1+ cards in hand will make it harder/shorter. Up to you!
