- One of my favorite serious non Downfall scenes involving Hitler.
After a disastrous offensive on Kustrin by General Theodore Busse and his 9th Army.
Adolf Hitler and Heinz Guderian go on a shouting match on who is to blame.
Believe it or not. The real life incident was much worse.
Jodl, Burghdorf and Keitel had to break the two men up in real life.
This video also has an interview from SS Brigadeführer Otto Kumm who was fighting
around the time and he gives his personal recollection about Guderian in 1945 (via phone call). That interview is from a film called Schicksalskampf
This isn’t downfall this is break down
A lot of the lines that were said were actually said in real life between the 2. However this was still tame compared to the real incident.
downfall at home:
Lol. The corporal playing the Field Marshall
The "6 tanks" he refers to at the end, belonging to or fighting alongside SS Leibenstarte (Adolf Hitler) last went into action (reduced to 5 tanks) during the final breakout from the fuhrer bunker as they attempted to fight their way across the Wedendammer bridge near Friedrickstrasse station to clear it for the bunker escapees to make their escape north. These last tanks were knocked out in that fight. The Wedendammer bridge was the last intact bridge across the Spree. Almost 2000 troops and civilians fled north as a result. Most were captured by the soviets. A very few got to the west, including Hitlers secretaries Traudl Junge, Gerda Christian and Else Kruger. Today the railway station is reconstructed and the bridge remans - the buildings are all different. But you get a fair idea of the crossing, and how close it is to the reichstag which by that stage had fallen to the Russians. the noose was very tight with just a few hundred yards from flank to flank and soviet patrols probing everywhere. But... its was also the last few days of the war in Europe, so nobody wanted to die in a meaningless skirmish. There are many tales of SS and Soviet patrols passing each other warily and avoiding a fight., and , just as many tales of fanatics dying at the finish line.
He's most likely talking about Operation Spring Awakening of March 1945, simply because he mentioned Guderian. As you know by the time the Battle of Berlin commenced on April 16, 1945. Guderian was already "sent home on a 6 week leave leave" since March 28, 1945.
Incredible acting. Loved this movie
The Germans in April 1945 were badly outnumbered by the Russians, by Men, Tanks, Artillery and also Warplane. Estimated...9 Million Men, 20 000 Tanks, 60 000 Guns and 8000 War Playns. The Germans must of had, 2 Million Men, 2000 Tanks, 6000 Guns and 2000 War Playns. Why they didn't finish of the Factories in the Ural mountains, with Strategic Bombing.
Because soviet aviation and anti-air system didnt let them do it
True.
Without American aid the Soviets would have lost
@@bobus1945 No, mostly to do by the fact that Germany had no long range bombers that could reach those targets in the Urals.
@@bobus1945The Germans had no long range bombers to get to the Urals, much less go over them. One of the biggest mistakes in the entire war.
The generals betrayed me
Some by being yes men when they should of spoke up then again they would of probably been shot
Horrible roll play by this otherwise good actor
Really bad… especially compared to Bruno Ganz performance !
2:21 who is this man on the painting hanging on the wall?
Frederick the Great, he was the King of Prussia from 1740-1786. Hitler idolized him for his military successes back in the day.
Any body know where I can find the documentary at the end
Documenatry is called "Schicksalskampf" (Fateful Struggle). You can get it at "IHF films"
GUDERIAN WAS GOAT OF GENERALS
Hopkins might be the GOAT of acting but this was like a silly caricature. HOW DARE YOU ACT TO ME THIS WAYY
To be fair the REAL Hitler did explode much like depicted here and believe or not, it was much worse it nearly came to blows forcing
Jodl, Burghdorf and Keitel had to break the two men up.
I think Hopkins portrayal was very good...one of the greatest actors of all time
