@@MaxandSidney Yeah - "pierogi" is plural, like English "dumplings". "One dumpling" would be "pieróg".
However we always say "pierogi" in plural, because (as you could see) there are always more than one on the plate when serving... 😅

I never had flavored vodka until I went to Poland, not even a hard liquor drinker, well Poland changed that, their flavored Vodkas are out of this world, my fave brand Sobieski. The Bison Grass vodka is great too (not actually flavored, Zurowka brand Soplica brand has awesome flavors as well. i went to the Pierogi place near our hotel near the plaza almost every nite, the ladies there knew us by then and we tried all the local Polish dishes, bigos stew, ziurek, pierogies pierogies and more... we normally took dessert to go.

If you want to taste polish beer go to some craft beer places like Browar Lubicz or Stara Zajezdnia, they makes beer on place. Vodkas that you've tasted - not vodkas. There were "nalewki" vodka is a clear destilate. Next time you have to hit museum od vodka on street Fabryczna 13. This is an old vodka factory converted to museum and great place with restaurants (also a good one with their own beer - Nowa Wytwórnia.) And also, next time you'll be to Kraków, don't taste food in old Town so much. For real taste hit more local areas or ask local where to go :)

Fun fact about Wódka (vodka), it is national alkohol but when it comes to the most popular it is actually a beer just like our fine neighbours Czech Republic. You can get many wonderfull local beers in poland and have more pleasure from it then from wódka. Wódka sales are second after beer, but is slwoing down for few years now, and in the meantime such alkohols like whiskey, brandy or even wine become more and more popular. Vodka is more associated as "poor" man drink, it is strong and cheap which is fine but more and more tends to go for taste and experience more then quickly getting drunk. It is still very popular and maybe worth trying if you visit, but dont think we drink it casually 😁

My late Grandma used to make dumplings with lungs. When I tell others about it, they immediately frown. But if they just tasted them, they'd scream for seconds without asking. Besides, I recommend dumplings with buckwheat and two pastries from Eastern Polish cuisine - Pieróg bilgorajski and Golas [literally "nude man"] (i.e. Pieróg bilgorajski but without dough, therefore nude). I cordially invite you to Roztocze!

Add it to cold brew coffee as creamer, pour it over vanilla ice cream, use it in lieu of Bailey's... there's no words to how good that is. Gifted a bottle to a friend from work, and she already wants me to bring her back another one. Hopefully they'll make it to the states by December.

So I enjoyed your video, but couple things I’d like to mention. When you make pierogis at home you make a lot so the first day they are eaten boiled as they come fresh from the pot. The next day any left overs in order to hear them up are fried. Hence fried pierogis. So you wouldn’t have them everyday :) Vodke, well the flavoured stuff you were trying is not vodka I think it’s probably there for tourists as a Polish person would not really drink that, at least not in the usual quantities that vodka is consumed. Sweet flavoured vodka should probably be limited to two or three shots at the most. You would usually consume a lot more than that on a night out.

Zoladkowa Gorzka is unique, you sip it (which is closer to what many Americans I know would prefer) and it's unique, rich in flavor. "Pierogi" is a Polish dish that's often misunderstood in English. People sometimes call it "pierogies", but that's not quite accurate. In Polish, "pierogi" is already plural. The singular form is "pieróg". So, calling them "pierogies" is like saying "pizzas" instead of "pizza". Just like you wouldn't say "I want two pizzas" when you mean "I want two pieces of pizza", you shouldn't say "pierogies" when you mean multiple pieces of the dish. It's more accurate to say "I would like some pierogi".

Three issues though, contrary to what was said pierogi aren't only boiled but can also be served baked or roasted. Regarding polish national spirits you forgot to mention mead. And there's an unbelievable variety of meads. Some clarification regarding Vodka tasting what you experienced wasn't really any Vodka tasting but a gimmick designed for tourists. You tasted rather Vodka infused liquers than real Vodka. Real Vodka consists of 2 ingredients either water and secale or water and potatoes, that's where the name derives from. Whenever aroma is added it is no longer a Vodka, with one exception and that's for Żubrówka which status is debateable among purists even.

@@MaxandSidney Thanks. I asked because you can have a different experience at a different time of year.
Also, if you publish the video during the trip, you might get some last-time suggestions from the locals before you leave the city.
Some suggestions after watching your videos from Kraków:
      - Pijalnia wódki i piwa is a place where you go to get drunk for cheap but not the best place if you want tasty beer
      - Żywiec, Tyskie, Okocim - these are the most popular Polish beers but these are generic mainstream lagers. There is plenty of multi-tap pubs in the city center, check them out!
      - drinking and eating in the main square puts you at risk of entering a tourist trap - some places are overpriced - check the menu before ordering. Try to go where the locals go :)
      - as others already said, 'pierogi' is already plural.
      - if you ever come to Kraków during the summer, go to the following places: Zakrzówek, Kopiec Kościuszki (there is a museum which should be interesting for the people from the US and also, you can enjoy a nice panorama of Kraków)
      - Did you know that there is a museum below the Main Square? In the 2000s they were replacing the tiles on the square and it opened a possibility of archeological digs. They didn't fill up the digs with the soil and made a museum downstairs. You can see the people visiting it through the glass pyramid/dome/fountain.
      - Other museums in Kraków worth going to: Emalia (Schindler's factory), Muzeum farmacji (pharmacy museum)

Your American medicine with an artificial cherry flavor has nothing to do with an actual cheery or Polish cherry vodka. I'm a native Pole living in US, I make my own flavored vodka, cherry and plum is all my guests favorite mine as well. As a child, in Poland we had medicine flavored artificial pear and banana, but it's a lot different from pear or Quince vodka. But I guess it's OK to misjudge stuff when you grew up in a different country and are stuck in a box. Man😅 cherry vodka is top of the top classic in Poland and around the world.

It was so much better than we expected! Flavored vodka definitely has a negative context in the US, but we were absolutely blown away by how good it was in Poland!! 👍

Nice video, I'm happy that you liked city where I live :)
P.S maybe stop stressing so often that Poland (or Krakow) is cheap. Maybe for people earning in pounds, dollars or euros, but not for Polish people. It's lacking a bit of consideration and can rub Poles the wrong way.
Anyway i hope you enjoyed the rest of yours stay in Poland. Greetings

Yeah - Poland is well known for vodka.
However I would say that even more Polish type of alkohol is "nalewka".
It's a strong alcohol beveradge (40-44%) created by macerating/infusing various ingredients in alcohol, like fruits, roots, herbs, honey etc.
    en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nalewka
Poland is also known for its "Śliwowica" ( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slivovitz ), hawever it's not an alcohol conected exclusevily with Poland, because it's known in all the Central Europe, epsecially in the Balkans.
