To think the ownership was okay with putting out this product at the start of the year and think it’s going to be okay and work out is beyond amazing to me

Tigers had the same record at this time last year. They improved their team on paper. Most of the people that watch this podcast (including the host) thought players like Mize should’ve received that $25k in arbitration (he’s a bust). Tork, Carp, Greene, Keith are not living up to expectations.

AJ, when Chris McCosky mentioned the Tigers were not competitive in the series, pushed back saying the Tigers were competitive. The Tigers were down to runs, down six runs and down Four runs before they scored in each of the three games. It seemed to me the Kansas City manager Out managed AJ Hinch because his results was to tear apart three of the better starting pitchers the Tigers have in their rotation. Kansas City‘s offense went opposite field many more times than the Tigers. When will you do critical analysis of AJ Hentges performance as a manager and how his leadership negatively affects the offensive performance?

AJ Hinch is grossly overrated as a manager. Did Al Avila interview other people before hiring Hinch as the Tigers field manager?

The offense coaches need to be fired on this team. The talent is there but not reached.

    • @sandythompson5096

You nailed it. Talent is scouted, drafted, and turned over to the analytic department. There is no development unless player s get private help at the big league level or traded to a team with a better approach to coaching/analytics, more weighted toward what the coach sees.

Who would you rather play at: third base - , Gio Urshela or Jace Jung? Right field/DH - Mark Canha or Justiyn-Henry Malloy? Shortstop. - Javy Baez or ABJ (Anybody but Javy)? Catcher. - Carson Kelly or Dillon Dingler? Starting pitcher - Matt Manning or Alex Faedo? Utility/shortstop - Scott McKinstry or Ryan Kriedler (played rehab today at Lakeland)?

Analytics destroys natural talent! Overthinking every move that a player makes is nothing but a major distraction from a players natural feel and instinct for the game! Harris and Hinch can shove their analytics where the sun doesn't shine! Natural hitters like Soto, or Ohtani, or Witt, or even Miguel Cabrera don't need that garbage to know how to hit! That is the kind of talent we should be developing...NOT ROBOTS!

Worse yet, the stat guys aren't the ones who have to execute a particular hitting strategy. Tork is the best example. There's a power hitter in him, but I think they're still trying to focus on hitting to right center. Get him focused on timing the fastball and lay off the breaking stuff for a while. If everyone can see his timing is off on hitting the fastball, focus on that.

Scott,I look forward to your daily podcasts & love your enthusiasm with both the Tigers & Wings. But you got yo face it. This team is bad. Just look at their roster. The only bright spot is Colt Keith but he has a way to go and will struggle on & off. Not sure what is happening with Greene.. Carp is a good hitter but needs to hit lefties better.Perez is also a promising young player but the rest of the roster has to be turned over as much as possible. Vierling & Ibanez are good players & McKinstry is okay as a backup for now. Changes need to be made asap. Jung, Malloy, Dingler & Badoo all should be on the team. now. As soon as Kreider is ready, he should be their every day short-stop. Canha has not much left in the tank, Ushella does not add to the offense, the catching combo is not getting the job done, Tork should be traded in the off-season as he is not going to shine in Detroit. He will probably find his footing elsewhere. Baez continues to be a drag on this team. Thank you Scott. Ray

It’s their approach at the plate. What in the world are they doing in the clubhouse that is causing them to regress. Are they just trying to get *any* kind of contact? It really seems like they’re sacrificing power just to get any kind of contact, and the effect is that it generates a parade of ground balls and fly outs. In case they haven’t noticed, there isn’t a lot of runs to be had that way. Just watch, if anyone gets traded they’ll become a good hitter like we wanted them to be. They have to clean out this clubhouse, their approach at the plate just isn’t working. So much for controlling the strike zone.

I said before the season started that the Tigers were hoping and praying that two rookies, Meadows and Keith, would be league average hitters. Baez could somehow be a league average hitter. And Greene could stay healthy. Well, 1 out of 4 came true. This is just poor roster construction.

If Riley Greene is the future we do not have one. He strikes out on crap out of the zone way too much. Dangerous hitters don't do that. P.S. Is Javy in a 2 strike count every AB?

Not feeling so bad now about losing Tigers on Comcast..They have pretty much sucked since they pulled the plug May 1st..Tried listening to Dickerson but to me on radio he is unlistenable..Never knoow the inning, Situation, Who is batting even the score for God's sake. I spent forty years radio broadcasting (certainly not at his level) But I learned quickly in my career that the radio guy is the eyes for the listener..The great Red Barber used a minute egg timer..When the sand ran out after a minute he flipped the egg timer over and reset the stage.
Funny but I don't think listening to he or Ernie they never once mentioned RISP WAR OPS the rectal temperature of the hitter and they did just fine..

Must win game and no Wenceel Perez. I hated the Canha signing, with all my heart i thought the Brewers could not give that guy away with that contract. I was happy to be wrong for a month but at 35 it looks like hes hit a wall. He had an atbat a couple games ago where he was late on the fastball so sat dead red and got a fastball that hit him and he swung to strike out. Urshella helped win a few games with bloop hits but the bloops are ending. Honestly that guy is washed up- hes a 190 singles hitter at a bat position- 3rd base, he will not last past August. Todays show "OK" funny stuff.

Start another rebuild, I observe virtually no MLB caliber players other than pitchers on this team. I've seen enough of our so called 'prospects' to understand the majority of this group aren't going to be long term, perhaps even short term answers. The first round picks on this team appear to be the greatest liabilities, and missing on first round picks ensures your team can't contend. Unless this group turns it around, time to think about trading off pitching for other team's prospects.

The lunch specials were more entertaining than the Tigers today. Baseball is supposed to be entertaining. It's just disgusting to see good and great pitching performances washed away by how awful the offense is. Harris is setting up a situation where nobody on this team will want to be part of the future.
