  • Let's learn about regenerative braking and One Pedal Driving, which can improve energy efficiency.
Regenerative braking is a technology that converts the energy created when your vehicle brakes into electricity, charging the battery.
One Pedal Driving uses the maximum level of regenerative braking to create an effect similar to conventional brakes.

I loved my EV. Used the paddles a lot, mostly left it on L3. Now my PHEV doesn't have paddles. :(

Is there a way to set this option permanently? because when you turn off the vehicle and then you turn on it, this option turns off.

Hi! I read in some forums that regenerative braking can damage some engine parts, like rotors. Is there any truth about that or can we keep using this great feature?

Seems compicated. Not pure one pedal driving

Do the brake lights come on when using regenerative braking on a self charging Niro Hybrid and if so at what level? Ive tried for over a year to get a definitive answer to this question and all Ive got so far is various differing opinions!!

I know my LEAF does. I’m sure it’s a federal regulation of some type.

I still have no idea what this is. Is it like a boat where you let go of the gas to stop?

Its like changing down gears in a manual car to braking slowly or going down hill, three levels of braking from mild getting stronger each step, I use it all the time.

@@SidBonkers51 not exactly. If you use auto mode, it is not braking before car sees something in front of itself. f.e. another car. if in manual, then it is constant braking during drive. Then you feel it even when accelerating.

@@raimondasnikstus377 Sorry I dont know what you mean by auto and manual? Im talking about regenerative braking using the paddles which have 3 levels of regen braking, what Im asking is "do the brake lights come on when using generative braking" and if so at which level. I suspect they may come on when using level 3 as that has the most braking effect but there is no way of knowing as you cant see if the brake lights are on when your driving.ps. you replied to the wrong comment ;)

@@SidBonkers51 I have replied to the wrong comment. Still I talk about same thing - paddle on the right hand side holding longer than 1 sec. turns on auto mode on regenerative braking system. That you can see under battery sign in panel by appearing ''auto'' sign. Then car follows obstacles in front and brakes itself. But is there a brake light when car brakes - good question. Will try to find out with someone driving behind :).

So sorry, Kia. For some reason, I can not get past the first 6 seconds of your video. And I keep playing it over and over again.
