I’m not going to spoil anything, but to address something you guys said: This story is not flying by the seat of its pants. If it was, it wouldn’t be one of the best shonen ever. What makes Chainsaw Man good is that every bit of foreshadowing is purposeful, and every loose end comes back eventually. If you pay close attention, well, you probably won’t predict plot points ahead of time, but you will get a sense that something is going to happen involving existing ones in the future.

I just love how CSM switches between a serious story with relatable characters and absurd chaos no one anticipates. Like how this show's premise is ridiculous - a man with a chainsaw head and arms, and then it hits you with a grim and dark first episode... that includes a fricking Tomato Devil. I can't wait for you guys to dive into the absurd part of the story
I see some people (well one person) think "oh they're gonna make the story mroe serious and dramatic" while ignoring the fact that Denji's backstory ehre FUCKING SUCKS so OF COURSE there's not gonna be much humour here because Denji's not in a good place.

Currently jjk and spy family sell the most per volume (with one piece being close to them). If we are to compare the number of sales before the anime for each one aired, chainsaw man would clearly beat all of them

I don't know why I thought that spy x family had more volumes before the anime aired
Pochita didnt ask tor memories, he asked for Denji to fulfill his own dream. So Pochita is basically the only one to have had a fair deal with Denji and even going beyond it and give him a second chance to live.

Even though I like cgi that’s fine we’ll, when I first saw it i was slightly off put during a couple of shots. But after having watched the fight a handful of times, I can safely say that the cgi is good at the worst of times, and great the rest of the time.

Tatsuki Fujimoto (writer/artist of CSM) is an incredible writer and has done multiple manga over the years, most of them being amazing one shots. But he does have another fully complete manga with a little over 80 chapters called Fire Punch.
about the "Hug me", actually Denji said "want to hug you" in Japanese. and the word hug(抱く) is cloak for "f-ck" so that will be his ultimate goal and motivation.
I think what you're talking about with "testing the waters" in the first chapter of a manga is true.. it's basically a pilot that tv shows do. You get your ideas out there in a concise manner with a hook. It's especially prevalent in Shonen Jump titles (which CSM is) where a lot of new serializations don't make it past the first 20 chapters before getting cancelled. They don't really have time to flesh a lot of ideas out until later when they know for sure they are able to continue publishing. With all of that said CSM's story and characters were very clearly thought out beforehand. Tatsuki Fujimoto is a god tier writer.. his other work Fire Punch is my favorite manga of all time. CSM is up there as well. He's not Hajime Isayama levels of storytelling, but he is goated for sure. His character writing is probably his strongest.

Here is my opinion on the first episode, I have not read the manga, so I'm coming in blind. My feeling is that this show is loosely written, by this I mean that we arent going to get explanations for everything, like a soft magic system. This is very often seen in Studio Ghibli worlds, where literally nothing about the magic is ever explained. I don't think this will be as loose as Ghibli standards, but I do believe that in the beginning, we will likely get very few answers immediately. This will most likely lead to incredibly heavy punches within the story, where your gonna be given an answer that makes you realize something that's already happened, or give you insight into something that's happening. This will make the story probably have very strong swings of emotion. This is especially due to the bleak nature of the world. I have a feeling the comedy will be good, due to this bleak nature as well. The guy literally thinks a piece of loaf with jam is awesome. Like the guys dream is to bang a chick, not very idealistic compared to most standards you know? I think this is a major theme. It seems like finding happiness in the small things will be incredibly important in a story where most likely a lot of bad things will happen. One day might be "OMG, we got to the cinema and watch a movie HOORAY" while the next is "3 people died, one of which was a major side-character" and be pure pain. In loose storytelling, it's important to pay attention to weird details, as most are given in the background. I think an important detail here, is that the main character, even in chainsaw mode is in a suit and regular tie with dress pants. The guy is literally just working a 9-5 job, risking his life, and trying to get a girlfriend, while also somehow being treated like a possession or a dog. I think this is gonna be a good show :)
