I came across you guys while watching Farmhouse on Boone. I thought you were kinda of cool, but your love for God and your family and reasons for your house (hospitality, foster care and adoption) have put you on my be my BFF list. Thank you for yor inspiring channel!
@@jasonandjulie , I am not sure about Missouri, but some places/States will 'only' fine you $1K (or less) after you had "already built" your home in "any" fashion that your desired; 'IF' you got your blueprint-plans "certified to code", *before* you began construction. You would still have to pass electrical & plumbing & waste Codes (maybe others?) as you build, during the framing-in stage, but all "other deviations" should fall under that one "fee". So, you could still build your "Dream" w/in your OWN "means & timing", despite the Govt wanting everyone to PAY THE MOST that they can get them to PAY-OUT. Adoptions add to the complexity, once they surpass 2-children; in some States / Counties you are required to have separate bathrooms & bedrooms for "each" additional child. Do your research on what your State / County will charge you if you build what you envision, anyway, w/out their Controlling "Permission". Also, having "Too Many" living-quarters on the "same" land can get One "in trouble" with 'Compound/Community Living Laws' (because of Waco, TX), unless One is granted a Resort / Campground Permit, but 'that' requires many more cumbersome rules that change w/ who is in office. It prevented my mother from being able to start a Community Living Project in Nebraska, along w/ 20 other families. It seems that the Current Government (of the past 20yrs) does not want people living in large cohesive & helpful groups, they seem to want families {and Couples} as broken-apart as possible. If that wasn't the case, TikTok would have been banned along time ago. May GOD-Source Bless Your Family's Path before CHRIST.
Add a door between nursery and master bedroom closet. Add a shower to the downstairs living room bathroom - at least the plumbing hookup. Add a 2nd washer and dryer hookup upstairs.
30 years ago we built a geodesic dome with spiral stairs going to the loft. The county had a hard time understanding the concept so my husband sat the guy down and explained everything.
Love watching you guys. Your great examples. We love the Lord and you shine for him. However I keep covering up because of all the bugs flying lolol I hope you didn't get bit up to much. Your troopers for staying out there.
I just discovered your channel and since you posted this video you've delayed building your new home. If you do build it in the future I suggest you consider the following a) a very large open living room, dining room (w semi-wall) and kitchen is very expensive to heat. You have to assume the cost of energy will go up significantly over time. b) Since you won't be having a central family clothing room, I'm surprised at how small the closets are in the two kids bedrooms. c) I'd install one large sink/utility sink in one or both of the rooms that have a washer/dryer. The sinks come in handy for things that need pre-washing or soaking or can't be put in a washing machine. I'm in total agreement with you in building a practical house and not a Kardashian house. I love how you think outside of the box re how to fund the house and source lower-cost materials.
What a lovely plan you have for the house. We will keep you in our prayers so that your building can go ahead very soon. Bless you all and take care xxx
Praying, praying, praying! My husband and I were delayed in building a small house for our family with similar goals because of the pandemic. It’s definitely frustrating but we are learning so much during the getting “through” process. God is faithful! So excited to go along the process with you.
It's truly a large home. Sure you will be very happy to get started. Your children will enjoy the extra space!!! Just stay prayed up, God will see you through this new venture!
I love you seeing the value in reclaimed items. My husband and I do so as much as possible. We made cradles for our grandkids out of an old basketball court (maple) and a Amish barn floor (walnut) we love to think of the lives lived on the wood. Prayers and Praise to y’all.
To make an official “bedroom” if you ever need it for fostering you could add a simple closet to the nursery and office. At least that’s how it is in our state
I am so blessed. We live in the home I was raised in on one of the most beautiful places in Florida. We have Resurrection Sunday Sonrise services in back yard. Prayers for you. Yes keep it simple and affordable.
Working my way through your sweet videos! Hubby and I live in a 30 x 30 metal building with 14 ft. porches on the front and back. We bought it 4 years ago for under 9k from Mueller. Not sure if they are in your area, but I definitely recommend them or a least a metal building. Many blessings to you!
Yes we have been getting quotes on building kits. The prices have gone up like crazy since 2020. We just got a quote for a 30 x 60 building kit that was $120K. And that doesn’t include any windows, doors or siding… just the exterior skeleton plus the roof
What about a second door to the guest bedroom bathroom from the mud room? Then when you have littles who need to go potty and they're messy and still playing outside, they can just go straight through the mud room to the bathroom and back out again.
Again Ilove what you are doing and Iknow with the faith from our lord he will provide and it will happen my self again Picture and big barn on and cement slab when you order these and purchase in our area in NH the company will pour the cement bring it to you and assemble shed garage or barn what ever you decide to do you finish and frame one room at and time as you get your materials Keep doing what you are doing you are such and inspiration god be with you through this journey you have taken he will provide
Another thought here... Could you add on to your current house? I know you want to use your current house as a guest house someday but if it were attached to your new house, then it could even be like a mother-in-law apartment. We have one of those in our home and it was wonderful when my mama was at a stage where she couldn't live alone. She had a living room / bedroom, office space, kitchen and bathroom. (She's in a mansion in Heaven now. ❤️) I don't know very much about permits and such but I was just wondering if adding on to an existing structure would help at all. Might be more complicated? Just thought I would throw that thought out there. 🤷 Great video! So glad you guys got to go on another date! 💗
We’ve thought about that… the way our little house is situated on our property makes it hard to enlarge it. It’s bordered by our circle lane road on one side and our well house on the other. We have thought about somehow building on top of the place where the old abandoned will be torn down, but there isn’t a lot of space because that old house was half the size of our new plan. We’re still trying to figure out all the possibilities though.
We bought land here in Massachusetts a couple years ago. It had an old house that we’ve (finally!) taken down ourselves, and now we’re getting ready to take the next step. Building is hard. We’ve decided to get a modular. Expensive, but it’s what’s best for us at this point. We’re excited to start getting a foundation in. This is actually how I found your channel. We had an old out building on our land and we considered turning it into a tiny house while we built. It didn’t work out so we’re renting for now. Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us. So excited for your large house!!
Have you thought of metal? You should check out cog hill they are going that route because of the building issue . Very nice down to earth people bet they would answer questions .
I feel for you guys. We are 7 years into our 2 year plan :) We have a shop with living quarters being made but we are also trying to get a "bardominium" made for our ranch property. Everything just takes forever, especially when you are doing things without financing.
Prices are on the way down! But Lowe’s and Home Depot or other box stores buy six months or more in advance, so we won’t fully benefit till early 2022!
Thanks for sharing your plans with us and sacrificing yourselves to the mosquitoes to do it! I wanted to shoo a few a way for you. I don't have any ideas for you, but I will pray! God will provide way in his timing. The hardest part is having the patience and trying to discern his plan.
You both have a wonderful family and love watching you and love the way you share your life and I hear what your saying about God is good all the time and all the time God is Good .Seek and you will find I live in Australia been watching you from when you had your youngest daughter keep up with the Channel please

I just have to say I love your hearts so much! I'm praying God will open doors at the right time and bring the right connections to make things happen, so you will be able to look back and say it was Him who brought it all together. And you will have the house of your dreams, built with the materials you wanted to use, and in the way you desired for it to be done! Then when it's done I would so love to come visit and meet your wonderful family in person 😁
Hi guys !🙂 I will definitely be praying for you and your family , for the direction of God's will of how to go about your plans and also for wisdom ! My husband and I were actually wanting to move down to Mississippi and we were going to try to do that in about 2 or 3 years .... We had been praying for direction and wisdom for this move , but it turned out that the Lord had other plans for us and to stay in Michigan But still move out of our area ! So we are "preparing for rain" as we call it ! Prepare our fields like when God told Israel ! Anyway , we want to move about a half hour North of us because we feel God putting it on our hearts to be closer to our church and closer to a couple of our friends so we can be a witness to them ... ( Both families are really struggling and going through a lot at the moment) ! Also we want to live in an area that isn't in the city , more country type setting ! So we could use some prayers our selves for direction and wisdom in that area .... Thanks for sharing where your at with your plans ! And I think it's awesome what you guys do as a ministry ! I would love to meet you and your family in person !! But I live in Michigan as I was saying ! May the Lord bless you and your family !
Thank you for your prayers! We actually had a family from Michigan come to meet us last week. They were on a family vacation and know us from UA-cam so they came by. So you never know what the future may hold! It sounds like you have exciting things coming as well. It’s so wonderful walking with the Lord. You just never know what he has in store for you. Praying for you to be able to discern his will as you go forward!
I live in a tiny house too. And wanting to build a bigger house and stay debt free. I'm looking at a barndominium. I've been on my property 3 years now and never thought it was going to take this long. One step at a time.
I hope you get the county codes straightened out....Here in Texas ...I may be totally wrong...but I had thought as long as you were not trying to get a loan for your house your building....then you could do whatever and whenever....but again..I could be wrong....I do know we had to get our septic system certified with the county....I will be praying for y'all and the county to listen..
Where are you going to keep all shoes and jackets. That is always our problem especially in winter. I wanna big closet or place by front door where we can keep all organized. :)
Yes I’m thinking the mud room walls will be lined with oversized cubbies that will give everyone their own space with hooks to hang coats, a shelf above for hats and stuff, and space below for shoes and boots. I’m not explaining it well but I saw something on Pinterest that I liked
But think if you wanna nice church jacket and guests jackets in mud room too, next to muddy boots and etc. Or maybe its just me because that is the biggest mess for me during winter.
Hmm yeah nice kids coats might have to go in a separate place. I’ll have to think on that one. Guests will have cost hooks available on the wall by the front door.
Question: why do you have the upstairs bathroom accessed through the hallway instead of directly from the bedrooms - esp since this seems like the family space and you have so many bathrooms?
The layout looks great but think about putting a urinal in the boys bathroom, I plan on adding one to our bathroom soon hopefully! As think about adding a second dishwasher.
I agree with what you said on using recycled products. Go green! That’s how they make lead certified buildings. That would be so unique if you ended up heating your house with a wood stove. I thought those days were gone but I guess not LOL! Praying the Lord will help guide you in the right direction.
I have been wanting to suggest that you might highlight each of your older children. Start with their baby book and let them each tell their own story ending with their own ideas of what is next for each of them.
I feel like I should email you my thoughts on your situation b/c this comment could be long. Our 1932 house burnt down in 2015 and we went thru a similar “heck” trying to get things done the way we wanted to. The bottom line is for some things you are going to have to conform to get the stamp of approval but other things you can do on your own. You will never get approval for second hand wood for main supporting structure/wiring/plumbing etc.
I know some of the feeling that you have about building a house we have a very old house it leaks like in seven different places and with the material so high we won’t be able to right away and my husband does construction so he found this one building that hit lots of two by fours very nice they were used the guy didn’t want it anymore so he told his boss that he like to have them if it all possible and his boss was like we don’t wanna mess with that and my husband said he’ll take care of you know taking out the nails and we just put the two by fours in a pile guess what he went ahead and get that job without my husband and they never kept the two by fours all of that good material got thrown away. But we also know everything is for reason I pray that you get your house how do you want to and I know you deserve it
That is a good requirement for you guys to have! Sometimes I ask the Lord why he brought us here. 😆 But we know this is where he has us, so we are just waiting to see what comes of it all.
@@jasonandjulie We ask ourselves the same thing as we have lived full time in our small rv for almost 3 1/2 years - working, praying, waiting for land opportunity- and it’s hard. We are placing our trust in the Father because -like you said- this is where he had put us for now
Do you have Amish in your area? They would build you a quality home! Many have their own sawmills! We have Amish builders in our area, electric and plumbing would have to be subcontracted . Might be worth looking Into. Prayers for Gods plan to be revealed soon!
Might it be possible to move to a different county? Doug and Stacey report on their channel that they live not too far from St. Louis and that land owners are free to build how they want to.
Research the Amish! They would build a home out of reclaimed materials because that is how they do things. Their philosophy is not to waste and use what God provides. I will be praying for your family as you began the next chapter of your life. Hugs from Texas 🤗
Why dont the 2of you go and get and prefaced now dont get me wrong barn or garage they come in very big to even smaller it would be the shell of the home and you take all of your used donated or were ever you get the materials and do the inside .Or take what you have and stay another tinny house inthe same property and eventually tie them all to one .Well god be with you and he will show you the way. Sometimes it with you and you really dont realize it keep doing what you are doing dont give up keep your faith
I don't want to live in the USA, I would love to visit I always want to visit, but not to live live, because you have your land and they want to tell you what to do,they want to put you in death and that is what you guys are running away from, I believe you should take it upon yourselves and build your house all by yourself, and get family and friends who knows how to build to her you, that's my opinion on it, I don't know if that could even work,am a Caribbean so I don't know how it works there, but I know how it works here in Jamaica where I live,am praying for you guys, that everything will work out the best way possible for you.👍🇯🇲
@jasonandjulie My daughter and son-in-law both are very involved with the owners of Orepac, which is a very large company that supplies Home Depot and Lowes with much of their wood products. Unfortunately, they only do business in the Western states. Denver is as far east as they go. I am so sorry. You are in my prayers, especially for the baby. Please don't be afraid of C-Sections. Both of my children were born via C-Sections. I was born breech with the cord wrapped around my neck and did not breathe for ten minutes. As a result, I have cerebral palsy, affecting all four limbs ànd speech. But I have had the most incredible life, doing just about everything that I ever wanted to do. I have never considered myself disabled. God is good.
You've clearly done lots of thinking! Building supply costs are beginning to fall and the supply lines beginning to restock. It may be a person who regularly works with the building permit folks, could facilitate some of the process for you. I'd be very frustrated not being able to sit down and talk with them -- email isn't always the answer. You may have already considered and discarded the following ideas but sharing in case they are helpful in some way. There may be a definition of what a "bedroom" is for purposes of adoption. It may include closet space and number of people per room. Might also be emergency escape requirements. For example, the nursery may not count as a bedroom without a closet. The office, with a closet may count as an bedroom. Consider collecting information from a couple of adoption agencies as well as looking at other building restrictions that may exist. You're home could be considered something other than residential at some point -- depending on your plans. This may be over thinking but I prefer to think through all possibility up front. If there is any possibility you might need an elevator down the road, plan for it now by allowing the space and framing it in. Consider a utility sink in the downstairs utility room area. Also, consider planning for water and a drain for an automatic ice maker. It's not unusual to see a restaurant quality machine you can get on the cheap. Same for a sink and metal prep tables. Nice to have messy kid projects at such as sink and out of the kitchen. Could also facilitate with canning processing down the road. A front coat closet for guests might also be something you'd be glad to have in winter. You haven't gotten to electrical plugs yet, but code often doesn't provide enough in the right spots. Projects like this, take lots of time. The planning can be part of the fun. You'll get there! Thanks for sharing your journey with us. Cheer!
Why not? I will say though I can’t imagine what it would be like to share a bedroom with 6 siblings like they do in their current place. I have always loved having my own bedroom and place to go. But I know not everyone has that luxury. I think a girls bedroom and a boys bedroom is good though.
@@sylvianolan2185 exactly. Nothing wrong with having a big family as long as they can each have a descent amount of space. My Dad had to share a bedroom with two brothers and my Mom one sister.
@@ryanm7249 sure have 20 kids if they want as long as they have adequate space in the bedroom department and bathrooms and currently they do not.One bathroom for 11 people!! That's totally inadequate.
@@sylvianolan2185 Exactly! I listen to Angela Braniff who has 8 kids, and they have the appropriate space for all of them. There is a big age gap like this family, and they have even more land and more animals. They have a hobby farm. Their vlog channel is called this gathered nest.
Julie, this all seems great on paper, but I really dont think its healthy or ideal for 7 children boys and girls to be sharing a bedroom. I've wanted to say this for awhile, but today the Lord gave me the opportunity. Children as they grow and develop require their own private space to do so. Yes I know you want to bless people as they visit your visionary " big house", but what about the children who need to be blessed with their own bedrooms right now.?
I have three boys and they actually prefer to share a bedroom. I have offered many times for them to have their own bedroom and they have always declined. I really think that it all depends on how you raise your family and whether or not you teach your children to love one another and to actually get along with each other.

Thank you so much ! We appreciate you praying for us and your channel !
I live in a tiny house too. And wanting to build a bigger house and stay debt free. I'm looking at a barndominium. I've been on my property 3 years now and never thought it was going to take this long. One step at a time.
Oh yes we know the feeling ❤️
Love it! ❤️
Good luck building a home for your family
Thanks Cindy!
Love the plan!
Beautiful floor plans
Thank you!
Thank you! Your prayers mean so much to us
Where are you going to keep all shoes and jackets.
🙏🙏🙏💕💕💕 I am sure that the Lord will bless you for your faithfulness 😘
Thank you Kathleen!
That’s a good idea!
I agree with what you said on using recycled products. Go green! That’s how they make lead certified buildings. That would be so unique if you ended up heating your house with a wood stove. I thought those days were gone but I guess not LOL! Praying the Lord will help guide you in the right direction.
Thank you!!
I have been wanting to suggest that you might highlight each of your older children. Start with their baby book and let them each tell their own story ending with their own ideas of what is next for each of them.
That’s a sweet idea!
lumnah acres used Jamaica cottages and get sponsored for some of their buildings
If u stay in your small house, by the time your last one leaves home, it will be a perfect retirement home! ❤️🥰
Do you know the blog Bless This Mess Please? They built their own home and may be able to give you some insight and suggestions.
I haven’t seen that one yet. I’ll check it out!
The Lord is our provider.
Yes! 💞
But we also know everything is for reason I pray that you get your house how do you want to and I know you deserve it
Thank you ❤️
You may want to consider solar energy!
Building codes can be extremely frustrating. We have been looking for land for years and top of the list is no restrictions.
That is a good requirement for you guys to have! Sometimes I ask the Lord why he brought us here. 😆 But we know this is where he has us, so we are just waiting to see what comes of it all.
@@jasonandjulie
We ask ourselves the same thing as we have lived full time in our small rv for almost 3 1/2 years - working, praying, waiting for land opportunity- and it’s hard.
I’ve not checked on that. Thanks for the suggestion!
Might it be possible to move to a different county? Doug and Stacey report on their channel that they live not too far from St. Louis and that land owners are free to build how they want to.
We’ve talked about that, but we really feel that the Lord led us to this specific spot so we’re going to stay put ☺️
Research the Amish! They would build a home out of reclaimed materials because that is how they do things. Their philosophy is not to waste and use what God provides. I will be praying for your family as you began the next chapter of your life. Hugs from Texas 🤗
Thank you Brenda!
Talk to Doug and Stacy off grid they will help you you are in the same region.
Our builder told us wood is going down but metal is going up
That’s good to know!
I don't want to live in the USA, I would love to visit I always want to visit, but not to live live, because you have your land and they want to tell you what to do,they want to put you in death and that is what you guys are running away from, I believe you should take it upon yourselves and build your house all by yourself, and get family and friends who knows how to build to her you, that's my opinion on it, I don't know if that could even work,am a Caribbean so I don't know how it works there, but I know how it works here in Jamaica where I live,am praying for you guys, that everything will work out the best way possible for you.👍🇯🇲
What state are y’all in? New subscriber!
We’re in Missouri. Welcome! 🥰
Do you live near Home Depot or Lowes?😊
Yes we have a Lowes close by!
Cheer!
Theee are great ideas. Thank you!
Try to save yourself some money to use some use memterl.
Can you get your contractors license?
We don’t need one in our county. You just have to take a test to show competency to work on your own house.
You’re not dealing with people who have empathy and that’s where most of us are today, it’s very sad!
Doesn’t seem like enough bedrooms.
Why not? I will say though I can’t imagine what it would be like to share a bedroom with 6 siblings like they do in their current place. I have always loved having my own bedroom and place to go. But I know not everyone has that luxury. I think a girls bedroom and a boys bedroom is good though.
Yes I agree, separate bedrooms for boys and girls. Not 7 kids in a dormitory
Children have been sharing rooms for a long time and thrive.
@@ourserenelife4321 you,ll need to back that up with evidence. Boys and girls sharing a room is not permitted/ allowed where I come from.
@@sylvianolan2185 She said girl room and boy room. Separate.
I have three boys and they actually prefer to share a bedroom. I have offered many times for them to have their own bedroom and they have always declined. I really think that it all depends on how you raise your family and whether or not you teach your children to love one another and to actually get along with each other.
@@ourserenelife4321 I'm talking about their current living conditions. 7 children in one room.
