    Great workmanship. Believe me, I know how disruptive that kind of work can be. And the dust. Omg. The result is beautiful.

      You have a beautiful home, and it appears that your guilty fridge did you a favour after all. Looking at your lovely home it's hard to believe you have so many dogs sharing it with you - where's the mess?😅

    So happy for you. You all feel like family at this point. Our current house was built in 1913 but I was raised in an 1848 house with a dirt floored basement. I love old homes, and Cavaliers too!

    I would love to see any part of your 1867 original house that you are willing to share, even the basement. Old houses are fascinating to me.

    Glad you have use of your kitchen again ! The floors look fantastic. You'd never know anything had happened with the refrigerator ! I like that you chose a light-colored wood for your flooring; it really "opens up" the house .

    It’s a shame you couldn’t preserve this 1867 pine floors, but pine doesn’t wear well. The new floor looks great. Usually when a new floor goes in, dogs go flying across it, but yours all seem to have a good “grip” on the situation. Glad everything’s back to normal.

      When we first moved into the house in 1981, we had the pine floors refinished, and that was our floor - it was beautiful. But after a few years, there was lots of wear, and holes looking right down into the basement (they apparently didn't believe in subfloors in 1867). So it became our subfloor, and it has all been covered up.

      @@chaskat35 Too bad, someone needs to find a way to protect those old pine floors, but I’ll bet they were gorgeous while they lasted. Thanks for the video and the response. 1981 was the year I got married, your floors are as old as my marriage. Congratulations.

    Beautiful job on the floors. Could you please explain how the scat mat at the side door works. Thank you and kisses to the fur babies.

    • @chaskat35
      @chaskat35  11 днів тому

      When they step on it, the scat mat gives them a small static electricity shock, like when you touch metal in the dry winter. It couldn't possibly hurt the dogs, but they don't like it. They quickly learn not to step on the mat.

    Your floor problem reminded me of my condo back in 2019.
    My neighbour above had a small leak in the kitchen and so water slowly leaked though the wall in my dining room
    And puddled under my dining room floor.
    I didn’t notice it until I saw wall paper peeling at the ceiling in my dining room.
    Long story short my insurance covered everything. Floor replaced in my dining room, living room and tv room because it was all the same floor.
    Then wall paper had to be removed in the living room
    And dining room. I had the room painted instead.
    It was 4 weeks of disruption as I had to have some Persian and Kashmiri carpets taken away for cleaning!
    It wasn’t pleasant going through that! Luckily I had just retired so I had time to deal with workmen.
    So my commiserations on your repairs!

    • @chaskat35
      @chaskat35  12 днів тому

      Sounds like you went through a lot more than we did. I'm sure my insurance would have covered this, but my deductible was only a few hundred dollars less than what it cost - the floor was the only thing damaged. We decided it wasn't worth the hassle and delay to go through insurance, so we just paid for it.

    Hi Charlie Very thankful that all is back to normal now.. I took notice of the John Lennon cd box set on the floor.. Got the same one had it since it was new.. Mandy always told me got so many movies (now 4K) and Cd's and Records that i could start a store.. Have a wonderful weekend and say hi to the sweet doggys from us both..

      I hope you kept your vinyl records. I had about 1500 of them, but had to sell them because we had no suitable storage space. I miss them. But lots of CDs, plus Amazon Music Unlimited, gives me access to almost everything I had.

      @@chaskat35 I had about 5,000 records collected from time i was a kid. Then were stolen while on vacation in 2002.. When co-vid hit i decided to get back to records. Been collecting ever since.. Always been big on music and old movies.. In fact ever hear of Clara Bow? Mandy is related to her and i knew Clara's Son and Family since i was 19 in 1985.. I was also in a band from 1980 til 2003..
