Thank you for showing your grooming tips. I love the feathered paws. The groomer that I first used for my puppy told me not to trim the top of the paws because furs will not grow back. Unfortunately another groomer trimmed my Cavaliers’ paws without permission and the fur on their paws are slow in growing back. There are advantages to trim paws but I still like the feathered paws. Apple is so cute.
Great tips that we can also use with our Maltese. It doesn’t snow most years here but we get seeds and dry leaves in the feet. Missed seeing our boy Sherlock! Thank you! Nanu nanu!
Love that apple is a camera girl! Our dog Loki was young during lockdown and he would sit on the lap everyday while we’re on zoom, he grew to understand zoom and friends would call to him on screen and I swear he posed and loved all the attention and still does any time we use zoom!
Na-nu-Na-nu to you as well!! Best wishes for successful surgery and speedy recovery to Mandy! I have been following your channel for several years - every video chock full of great advice and tips. Your videos were a true blessing during the Covid lockdown! I am fortunate that my husband is a veterinarian (now retired) and we faithfully use a non-prescription ear wash solution called TrizUltra+Keto (available from Amazon, Chewy's etc.) which has been great for our Cavaliers- never have had an ear infection. My boys don't mind it all as they know a vigorous "ear-scritching" always follows! 😊
Thank you so much, for answering my questions about ear cleaning, Charlie. I will order some ear wash immediately. Murphy and Danny say hi to you and your gang and we hope your home gets back to normal as soon as possible.
Thank you again, so much useful info, and such a beautiful model. It is great to see how someone with so much experience deals with things everyday, ie I spend a while drying inside ears with cotton pads which if not necessary will save time and hassle for both me and Amber... 😂❤🐶
My oldest cav has no issues with trimming paw pads…as long as a faucet is running and masks the noise, but the second we bring out nail clippers its all down hill and squirm city. Shes never even bled from it or been injured. We have to have the vet trim them and no squirms at all. Its all a game. Lol. Our newest cav puppy however just wants to eat the brush or clippers or ear cleaner or anything else within distance
This was a very informative video. My Cavalier grew wings last July and she was a love and special guardian. Should I ever again have a Cavalier I will be much more prepared although I cared for her like a child. My daughter said she had a sister named Miss Annie. She was a beauty.
Good timing Charlie. My sweet Jude seems to get ear yeast a lot even though we clean them regularly. Just this morning I noticed one of his ears is starting to get smelly and when I put his ear meds he flinched quite a bit with discomfort. I’ll take him to the vet but boy, his ears are the one place where it seems he suffers the most. Thanks for the information. And thank you for giving a shout out to Mandy ❤ I’m sure you made her day.
I think the slippers are so cute! I understand why some people have them trimmed, as they do bring in some leaves in the Fall and some snow in the winter, but it's a small inconvenience and well worth it for me to enjoy that emblematic Cavalier look. 🐶💘
Yet again another great & informative video for all your fans. Apple is so beautiful and such a super star ⭐️ Question for you: I know there are the 4 standard colours of Cavaliers but have you ever seen a Cavalier that has a deep brown and white coat similar to a Springer Spaniel? I’ve never seen one until this week - has all the other characteristics of typical Cavalier and the owner said they are very rare… how could this happened?
Thank you so much for this video. It was very reassuring that I'm doing the correct thing with my girl Lexi's ears and feet. Is recently had an ear infection which she's had before. I do clean and check her ears regularly along with brushing. I also do the same trimming of the hair on the pads of her feet. It's reassuring to know that I'm doing things correctly for her. Thanks again for your helpful videos!
Hi Charlie we always look forward to all videos.. First of all thanks for the shout out and kind thoughts.. So much appreciated.. Mandy's dialysis the other day was 1 year.. We want to get her on the kidney transplant list.. But the dialysis is going without anything bad so that is a good sign.. Will keep you updated and thanks so much.. We both thank you made our day.. So thankful that you made it through Charlie please take good care.. Got 2 questions for "ASK THE BREEDER" (Says with a deep astounding voice).. First one has to do with ears.. I have seen of all sizes on Cavaliers. Some aren't long at all is there a cause for that? 2nd question What foods are safe and what foods are dangerous for them to eat? Thanks again for your shout out.. All the best and have a great one.. Oh got one more question if it ok.. We were told there are such a thing as a all black cavalier? Is that true?
PS Nano Nano Shazbot.. LOL We hear that a lot.. There was actually a episode of Mork and Mindy where Mindy meets a Mark And Mandy to which Mindy replies "Mark and Mandy how quant".. LOL..
My family are always complaining about Mabel’s fur catching everything from the grass underneath! I just brush it out but they complain about the things found inside, and the burrs! But I try not to trim!!
Ciao Charlie, Annarita dall'Italia,❤! Sai so che Dio mi vuole bene 😊,e vuole bene pure a te🤗🤗😇🌞🌈🦸♀️
I use paw butter on the pads of her feet religiously in the winter. I will do it in the summer if I notice her paw pads are too dry. Is this a good practice to continue?
I have no experience with paw balms, but I believe they are simply moisturizers, and probably do no harm. It's probably a good idea to use them if you have especially harsh winters, or if your dog regularly walks on rough surfaces.
Charlie you had me holding my breath when you were using the clippers on her feet and her head came forward 😮 Clippers are NOT forgiving! One fell swoop and those lovely ears are toast! Might I suggest putting on a snood to keep the ears back and out of danger of being clipped accidentally. Maybe not a big deal for most pets but a horror if you show. Might I also suggest a smaller clipper specifically for the paws? Much easier to control with more precision and less chance of also taking off a big chunk of slipper fur accidentally too. There are many such items on Amazon and are reasonably priced.
We previously used a small trimmer for the paw pads, but those just don't have the power to do the job effectively. The snood is probably a good idea, despite the fact that we have never had an accident.
We previously used a small trimmer, made for trimming men's beards. We switched to the bigger one you see on the video, because the small one was not powerful enough. This is the one we now use: www.amazon.com/oneisall-Clippers-Grooming-Cordless-Waterproof/dp/B09QFRN3D5/ref=sr_1_3_sspa?crid=C13QHE5PR020&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.3hujY1e8TSi-fl6cXBYhyLYudt_hapBKJmseGAExT9fGo1FSU3gdRjZKHdugZYCtH0ETQIUZKFAAPG_1vVBRDO-a0YCPLDABsEm4qwH4etANET2MSmEroCrwA-vebOHCUAkyAzXrje2ZfXHCLLy8dqzeGQl_FeyFzlEV-41ukVvLgnm-hO780iFtVK2SFiwjNmOIcuJPmqnQPQUsLtPnlVi48R0hdF2MhAO-5z9K0cOL0YtpoL57s-LTSlqevACzypYpWHmy0jROM5jg7Zh5wd486-uuWsSwksGvoLogjpk.vaOKcM6pKpCQAvt2zVpNMBoJtW70Jte5FPK-opGnP88&dib_tag=se&keywords=rechargeable+trimmer+oneisall&qid=1726679780&sprefix=rechargeable+trimmer+oneisall%2Caps%2C112&sr=8-3-spons&sp_csd=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9hdGY&psc=1
This has probably been covered, but how do you keep your dog’s paws so white. Apple’s paws are gorgeous! I use a whitening shampoo on my cavalier, but his paws still seem to have a yellow tone to them. Any advice would be much appreciated. ❤ Your channel.
Most of the time, I just do the paws with Dawn dishwashing liquid. For dog shows, we sometimes use a whitening horse shampoo on the white parts of the coat - it works much more effectively than any regular dog shampoo that claims to whiten.
Perfect timing with this video! I just purchased a paw hair trimmer and started on this this weekend. Now do you trim just the hairs that shoot out from the pads or also in between the pads (or toe beans, as I like to call them) as well? Thanks in advance!
Thanks so much :)
Appel quiere ser la protagonista😂😂😂😂😂😘😘
I agree, there's nothing better than lovely, natural long Cavalier ears.
Na-nu Na-nu to you, too. Wishing the best of luck to you, Mandy.
Great video awesome tips.
Great video! It’s so nice of you to recognize your followers! All the best to Mandy!

Love these videos - so good to listen to a reputable cavalier owner who knows what they are talking about. Thanks again :)
Thank you .

Super informative video. Thank you Charlie and Apple
Thank you for sharing your years of experience! Your techniques and demonstration of tools is so helpful. Apple is such a lovely model.

Thank you for sharing.
Apple is a 🌟… thank you 😊
Ha ha, I’m old enough to remember Mork and Mindy and I’m a “Mindy” that’s been following you for years, silently. Wishing Mandy the best.

As usual, very informative, thank you. First to last for trimming, bummer.
My tricolor boy, Pleiades, is wayy to feisty to let me regularly brush him, he gets soo mad! I call the slippers grinch feet 😊
My family are always complaining about Mabel’s fur catching everything from the grass underneath! I just brush it out but they complain about the things found inside, and the burrs! But I try not to trim!!
I wish I wasn’t so scared to trim the nails!

I need to get a little paw trimmer. I have tried to trim paws with scissors but Willow won’t stand for it. Any recommendation on trimmer?

The hair that grows out from between the pads is the troublesome stuff, and we always trim it down.
