- At least four casualties were confirmed Sunday as tornadoes whipped through several states starting Friday. A Saturday night tornado decimated much of downtown Sulphur, Oklahoma. NBC News’ Marissa Parra has the aftermath and the community's effort at coping with disaster.

The last time Sulfur Oklahoma got hit by a tornado was 2016. But this was way worst then I thought.

There is no such thing as tornado season anymore. It seems like tornado season is year-round now remember the outbreaks we had in December and January. People get used to it. This is the new way of life.

The reason for all this destruction is because people, (who should know full well), that live in tornado alley build their buildings the wrong way.
If I lived there I'd build underground, or with reinforced concrete.
Now that their houses are gone, they have the perfect opportunity to do so.
But I bet they don't.

Went to college in IA...Tornados are scary. One destroyed my gf house in a small town. Three train cars were thrown several hundred feet into a field.

Just a thought, have you ever noticed that a military contractor who develops weapons and designs killing machines never gets hit with a tornado. Not once in our history, and I'm wondering how? With the decades and decades of storms, why a military contractor center has never been hit?

I'm totally naive to this topic, and I'm wondering if it's possible to build tornado-resistant houses? A Google search suggest that reinforced concrete is a potential building material, can it really withstand tornadoes in practice? And is it affordable for people living in the tornado alley?
Honestly, if that happened to me I would leave forever and start driving East until I decided to settle someplace new.

Well, as an insurance agent, we have a clause not to cover an act of god. Our hands are tied. We can't help it when the Big Man upstairs decides to send a tornado.
I love it, the act of god cause this, not going to pay you for what you paid for haha. The insurance keep all the money still at the end or what? Almost anything can be act of god. So what is the damage have to be before you can say it a act of god? A light bolt hit the house and burn it down will that a act of god? So much question on that clause.
