I like that anxiety is protecting you from future threats you can't see, and fear is protecting you from present threats you can see. It's a very important distinction and goes well with the fact that children don't typically have the mental capacity to fear things so far ahead of them.
Wrong, in the first movie there are multiple times where Fear was protecting Riley from future threats you can't see. Like the meteor in the school he planned for.

yeah it's more like each have their own good stuff and bad stuff. It's just that most of the time they're supposed to be HELPFUL. Joy: keeps you positive but too happy or being too ecstatic can also end up ignoring people or wanting things to be perfect Sadness: helps you empathize with people but also sometimes makes you too sad that you might just cry in the corner about your life Anger: lets people know you're mad and they should do something to stop it, it also helps with control, but being too angry can make people stay away from you and fear you Fear: keeps you away from the physical dangers and helps avoid perilous situations of high risk but being too paranoid about it can make you distance yourself from loved ones and makes your self feel isolated Disgust: It really does keep you from eating the stuff that could be poisonous, but at the same time it turns you into a picky eater which is quite hard for survival when you need to have an omnivorous diet to stay healthy Anxiety:this might seem surprising, but anxiety really does help us. As anxiety said, she looks for the not-so-obvious dangers and "yearns" for the future, but anxiety can easily get out of hand and cause you serious actual mental problems with your life. envy: gives us things to admire in life, but these emotions of envy can often lead to self-ostracizing and violent jealousy embarrassment: a very social emotion that helps us fit in in where we belong, but in some cases this can lead to us shying away from others, hating ouselves, in rare cases having an identity crisis when there's no place to belong to ennui: it's just extreme boredom, except it can turn into sarcasm.
Nostalgia is the core opposite of anxiety and just like it, it can be very VERY detrimental if unleashed, just like being paranoid about the future is bad, being locked in the past is also terrible

But then she gets sent back to the back of the mind (downstairs) and anxiety says Riley is too young to feel nostalgia. She then appears later in the movie and says "Remember when we went to hockey camp" despite it being a day ago and is then sent back downstairs again

Maybe envy is like the opposite of disgust. While disgust identifies what we don't like, envy does the opposite. The things that we want or should have. Its important to know what you like and dislike.
Every emotion has the potential to be both positive and negative, Mania is the main example of an excess of Joy, maniacal people or people going through a manic episode, be it for a disorder or due to stress, literally go through a high energy burst and impulsiveness, for example if joy would've succeeded in the first movie to suppress or erase sadness what would've stopped Riley from laughing or be joyful while others suffer, Joy also fill her with excitement which can lead to a non stop chain of "I can do this" no matter the task
People still don't get the message from the first movie don't they? There is no such thing as a negative or positive emotion, all emotions have the *potential* to affect us in a good or a bad way depending on how we learn to manage them, yes even anxiety *is* necessary, you got the working together part right, we do need to balance all of our emotions, we cannot bottle them all up, we cannot stop ourselves from feeling, but how we react to them is what makes the difference
@ordinarystranger6667 I mean, the message is right in the movie. People need to experience sadness in order to feel and appreciate joy. Without sadness, joy doesn't have as strong of and impact. You literally see Joy realize this when she sees an old memory and rewinds it, noticing it was sad before it was happy. The joyful memory of being supported and surrounded by friends and family was because of sadness. Also, when Joy constantly tried to stop sadness from doing her job, Railey eventually shut down from repression. Joy needs sadness, a lot of joy comes from overcoming sadness. Hence, the hair and eyes are blue instead of yellow or any other color they could go have gone with for a character design. It was the entire message.
Nostalgia is also a good emotion that keeps you happy. Joy isn’t the only happy one. And negative is a little harsh. They all have their own role to help Riley
Joy- Something to live for Sadness- Empathy. Recognizing and/or coping with negative events Anger- Motivation. Advocating for yourself or other’s wellbeing. Disgust- Repels you from generally repulsive stuff. Cleanliness. Fear- Safety. Anxiety- Preparedness. Preventing repercussions. Envy- A drive for self improvement Embarrassment- Guides you to fit in or have more credibility Ennui- a motivator, I guess? Your emotions are designed to protect you. Many aren’t exactly pleasant, but idk about flat out calling them negative yk?

That's the thing, anxiety took control and no other emotion that was left did anything - not embarrassment, not ennui, not envy. Even though he/she had many chances, they all let anxiety get the lead and didn't take care of Riley well like the 5 emotions did. Obviously, when embarrassment saw sadness, they were the ones who worked together. Later on, all emotions (except anxiety obviously) worked together to take out anxiety's "I'm not good enough" thing. The teamwork in the movie actually excluded anxiety because Joy stopped him and tackled anxiety to the ground. Then the rest of the emotions took the thing out while the orange circles around the console kept going. Anxiety never did any teamwork, only the rest of the emotions did.
Everything in moderation. Ennui did a good job at being cool and calm. Envy is good at identifying where Riley can improve, in a way that’s more positive than Disgust. Embarrassment is self reflection, letting Riley know when she does something wrong. Anxiety does plan for the future, but doesn’t give her enough room to live in the present. She squashed Joy like Joy squashed Sadness in the prior film. Now that Anxiety is off the console, she can counsel the other emotions rather than take the wheel.
When I saw the movie, I was so nervous when Riley got the notebook with all the things about players in it. She shouldn’t have to change herself but I’m still glad she made the hockey team :)
No emotion that anybody has is negative. In life you need certain emotions to keep you safe and happy. Disgust, fear, anxiety, and embarrassment keep you from being hurt mentally and physically. Sadness is needed sometimes when you want to cry it helps you feel more relaxed and relieved. Anger is helps protect you from feeling bad and shows other people what things you like and dislike. Ennui is not negative. It’s just when you’re very calm. Joy is positive. Envy isn’t negative either. It’s a different way of expressing things you like about other people. These emotions only become negative when you let them go to far. But you need all emotions to have a happy life.
True and plus anxiety did try to take over Riley but ended up failing and bringing her depression Right now:OMG I HAVE NEVER GOTTEN TO 25 LIKES BEFORE CAN WE GET TO 100? Reply:OMG GUYS 33 IM SO HAPPY PLA LETS TRYAND GET TO 100 or atleast 50
The point of the first movie was that each emotion can harm but also help. Too much joy was more like denial & bottling up emotions, while sadness helped her relieve the pressure by being comforted by family.
I think what will happen is the originals come back and the new fade. The ones that take over are much more common for teens and young adults but not so much kids and adults. And the new are really combos of the others in some way.
No emotions are negative. They all protect us in different ways. Sometimes we need to be scared, sometimes we need to be sad, sometimes we need all of our emotions. And that’s okay, if emotions were negative why would we have them? All of our emotions are just as equal as other ones
I cannot believe you just said Joy was the only positive emotion. The whole point of the first movie was that all emotions had their uses, mainly to protect Riley from things.
Insisting that all the emotions other than Joy is a sign of low intelligence. In fact, one can even point out negative aspects in Joy by the way she often ignored what’s around her with her self centeredness.
Emotions have an adaptive purpose, therefore and by definition they cannot be positive or negative, they are all important, there are pleasant and unpleasant emotions but they are all important
it's only natural for the reason that not all situations can be rainbows and butterflies, as we can see in the movie joy herself is having a dilemma in which it shows that not all problems can be solved by just being happy or positive, we can have different emotions and it is all valid. we can be angry, embarrassed, envy, etc. but we shouldn't be engulfed too much in that state, move on amd learn from it, as they say too much can be bad either it's positive or negative, let's do everything in moderation
Actually most of the new emotions bring positive tools for a tiny while but have a lot more negative consequences. For example : anxiety makes you focus on your performance but also can quickly make you feel like you're not good enough and make you enter a Vicious circle
My problem is that they are making an unnecessary distinction between Fear and Anxiety. in the first film, Fear played the part of Anxiety. Anxiety is a persistent fear of an unknown treat. Or as Anxiety said, "the things she cant see." (BTW, I'm pulling these quotes from this particular video ua-cam.com/video/F6Cn7U5WwHE/v-deo.html ) First example: he said that he was glad Joy told him that Earthquakes were a myth, otherwise he'd "Be terrified." To live in constant fear of an earthquake is anxiety. Second: He asked "can you die from moving?!" when Riley first walks into the new house. Third: He lists amoung the things Riley should be scared of on her first day as "quicksand, spontaneous combustion, and getting called on by the teacher." Only the last one is even remotely possible at that moment. Fourth: When Meg shows riley the picture of the new girl on the team Fear says "A new girl?! Meg has a new friend already?!" Fifth: (personally I think this is the best example After Riley starts crying in class, and Disgust points out that the "cool kids whispering at 3 o'clock" Fear responds saying "Did you see that look! They're judging us!" I think they could have easily done this story with Fear as the main antagonist.
also all of these examples are different fears. 1. seismophobia aka the fear of earthquakes. if you come from an area with alot of them you develop this fear. she moved to a place that has alot of them 2. tropophobiaaka the fear of moving/the unknown. which would make sense since shemoved and didnt know the area that she may be fearfull of it. 3/5 Ammophobia aka the fear of sand ,pyrophobia aka the fear of fire ,Social phobia. while social phobia is a form of anxiety is is the fear of being judged by others.which is only part of social anxiety disorder. all three of these are fears 4Cronos syndrome which is the fear of being replaced. i think its a nice way to see fear show these fears to show this the main difference is the way they changed riley,f ear caused riley to stop or flee like in the first movie fear caused Riley to run away from home or when Riley was a kid stopped infront of the cord to not get hurt. anxiety caused Riley to overwork herself, feel like she wasnt worth it, caused her to have thought paralyzed, break down, hyper fixate, and another things t stop riley from failing. just cause fear can lead to anxiety does not make the same thing and the movie showed that well. riley acted differently with both fear and anxiety reposnses. its also good to know anxiety is also movtivation vs how fear make riley safe. both of them also have different postive aspects
@axlfragiadakis6563 I get that. But I am just of the opinion that "anxiety" is not a pure emotion. I think it's just an expression of fear. Then again, the division of emotions is a philosophical opinion. So if it makes sense to some, then so be it. The important thing is understanding one's emotions and being guided by one's reason while not repressing any particular emotion.
@@DaltonHBrown maybe since I have a psych degree I se anxiety as it’s own thing. People feel anxiety all the time. You wouldn’t say your work of projects Becouse your have fear of not getting done. Deadlines are kept from our day to day anxiety. A lot of things do lead into anxiety. In pysch you kinda study the differences and the different theories or core emotions. lol.
@axlfragiadakis6563 My minor was in counseling, so I'm not as well studied as you. But like I said if it helps someone understand their emotions better then that's good.
I would've very much rather Disgust Anger and Fear had been like "okay, you two had your time to shine, now we need to find how we can help riley" and thus this second movie can take place.
If Riley got her new 5 emotions then it should go the same as her friends to U see.. Riley and uuhhh i forgot her name and the other one Grace the both felt bad bc Grace drop the coins and they both help which actually shows an embarrassment emotion to Grace now if that emotion existed when they are 13 .. Question : how was Grace able to get an embarrassment emotion before she was 13 ?
I hope there’s a 3rd movie- it seemed like they were hinting at a 3rd since it left on a slight cliff hanger but I wouldn’t mind waiting another 9 years if it was as good as the second
I'd say Anxiety was more of a sympathetic antagonist. She's the closest thing to a "villain" these movies have, and she was at least able to own up to her mistake and even helped Joy grow even more.
I wish it shows Riley on her . and all that because that's what puberty is. Like what Turning Red did. Overall, I loved this movie and hope you watch it!!!
I mean, embarrassment isn't exactly negative since sometimes we can be extremely goofy and don't realize how uncomfortable we're making ourselves or others around us.
if you notice in inside out 1 you can see riley wear a rainbow shirt that represent all the emotions in inside out 1 and 2 orange for anxiety blue for saddness and envy yellow for joy red for anger green for disgust and purple for enwui an fear and pink for in ebarresment
I like that anxiety is protecting you from future threats you can't see, and fear is protecting you from present threats you can see. It's a very important distinction and goes well with the fact that children don't typically have the mental capacity to fear things so far ahead of them.

Anxiety does plan for the future, but doesn’t give her enough room to live in the present. She squashed Joy like Joy squashed Sadness in the prior film. Now that Anxiety is off the console, she can counsel the other emotions rather than take the wheel.
I watched the new Garfield movie and inside out 2🎉
You don’t get rid of anxiety you learn to live with it.
Do U guys realise that anxiety is the only emotion with another coloured pupils?
my man just figured out the message of the first movie...
When i saw the bomb thing i was like-:
"OHHHH POUCHYYYYY-"
Anger: "Hey guys! Look! My own pouchy. 😎"
😂😂😂😂😂
I love how fear said how dare you madame
When I saw the movie, I was so nervous when Riley got the notebook with all the things about players in it. She shouldn’t have to change herself but I’m still glad she made the hockey team :)
I like how joy in the first movie only thought she was important for Riley. This time it’s anxiety
True and plus anxiety did try to take over Riley but ended up failing and bringing her depression
Right now:OMG I HAVE NEVER GOTTEN TO 25 LIKES BEFORE CAN WE GET TO 100?
Reply:OMG GUYS 33 IM SO HAPPY PLA LETS TRYAND GET TO 100 or atleast 50
Don't forget negative stress!
Ty
And Nostalgia is mostly positive(mostly because Nostalgia usually brings in happy memories but instead can do the opposite)
I cannot believe you just said Joy was the only positive emotion. The whole point of the first movie was that all emotions had their uses, mainly to protect Riley from things.
I wish theyd add love bcs she def loves her parents, and she needs more than 1 positive emotion
“He keeps Riley safe from things she can see. My job is to keep her safe from things she can't see." -Anxiety 2024
Sadness is not a negative emotion because it disspells the negative emotion that has built up
Anxiety protect Riley from what she don't see and fear from what she see
Joy actully swears appropriately
Blood really got anxiety on weed and blood really called envy embarrassment😂😂😂😂
Actually most of the new emotions bring positive tools for a tiny while but have a lot more negative consequences. For example : anxiety makes you focus on your performance but also can quickly make you feel like you're not good enough and make you enter a Vicious circle
My problem is that they are making an unnecessary distinction between Fear and Anxiety. in the first film, Fear played the part of Anxiety. Anxiety is a persistent fear of an unknown treat. Or as Anxiety said, "the things she cant see." (BTW, I'm pulling these quotes from this particular video ua-cam.com/video/F6Cn7U5WwHE/v-deo.html )
First example: he said that he was glad Joy told him that Earthquakes were a myth, otherwise he'd "Be terrified." To live in constant fear of an earthquake is anxiety.
Meg has a new friend already?!"
Fifth: (personally I think this is the best example After Riley starts crying in class, and Disgust points out that the "cool kids whispering at 3 o'clock" Fear responds saying "Did you see that look! They're judging us!"
I think they could have easily done this story with Fear as the main antagonist.
also all of these examples are different fears.
1. seismophobia aka the fear of earthquakes. if you come from an area with alot of them you develop this fear. she moved to a place that has alot of them
2. tropophobiaaka the fear of moving/the unknown. which would make sense since shemoved and didnt know the area that she may be fearfull of it.
3/5 Ammophobia aka the fear of sand ,pyrophobia aka the fear of fire ,Social phobia. while social phobia is a form of anxiety is is the fear of being judged by others.which is only part of social anxiety disorder. all three of these are fears
4Cronos syndrome which is the fear of being replaced.
i think its a nice way to see fear show these fears to show this
the main difference is the way they changed riley,f ear caused riley to stop or flee like in the first movie fear caused Riley to run away from home or when Riley was a kid stopped infront of the cord to not get hurt.
anxiety caused Riley to overwork herself, feel like she wasnt worth it, caused her to have thought paralyzed, break down, hyper fixate, and another things t stop riley from failing.
just cause fear can lead to anxiety does not make the same thing and the movie showed that well. riley acted differently with both fear and anxiety reposnses. its also good to know anxiety is also movtivation vs how fear make riley safe. both of them also have different postive aspects
An example of this is when Riley first when to camp anxiety said to leave her friends because she could get in trouble, and she did
The Anxious, the embarrassed and the drunk
I would've very much rather Disgust Anger and Fear had been like "okay, you two had your time to shine, now we need to find how we can help riley" and thus this second movie can take place.
Anxiety saying I'm just protecting her while if your protecting her you should know to your hurting her you know it but you still didn't stop
My new character prediction in inside out 3 or others:
- Dark Humor
- Instructive Thoughts
- Negative Minded
- Positive Minded
The term “negative” is subjective and watching the movie spells that objective out quite clearly
If Riley got her new 5 emotions then it should go the same as her friends to
U see..
Can y'all answer that question? 😅
It seems pretty hard..
Forgot nostalgia, she's positive
Yeah
Anxiety is not negative but far more technical
Newest emotion : Nostalgia
The neat detail is the entire movie premise.
I hope there’s a 3rd movie- it seemed like they were hinting at a 3rd since it left on a slight cliff hanger but I wouldn’t mind waiting another 9 years if it was as good as the second
Nostalgia is a good thing
Bro inside out is like pikmin, can't have enough of the bad ones💀
Nostalgia is just forgotten about
I'd say Anxiety was more of a sympathetic antagonist. She's the closest thing to a "villain" these movies have, and she was at least able to own up to her mistake and even helped Joy grow even more.
Nostalgia be like: remember that time I got ignored
If you let your emotions control every aspect of your life, you will never know peace.
I’m sorry but the orange memory ball is messing with my head I’m so used to the original 5 colours😅😅
I wish it shows Riley on her . and all that because that's what puberty is. Like what Turning Red did. Overall, I loved this movie and hope you watch it!!!
crippling depression emotion when
How is boredom an emotion yet not love
Bruh you mixed anxiety and envy up
I mean, embarrassment isn't exactly negative since sometimes we can be extremely goofy and don't realize how uncomfortable we're making ourselves or others around us.
if you notice in inside out 1 you can see riley wear a rainbow shirt that represent all the emotions in inside out 1 and 2 orange for anxiety blue for saddness and envy yellow for joy red for anger green for disgust and purple for enwui an fear and pink for in ebarresment
The comedic heart boxers
Bro I watched the movie already and it's amazing
Guys let's support romantic or love as a emotion for inside out 3 even though we are not gonna see it in like 10 years
anxiety is fear pro max
