Classic Tailback - Rashaan Salaam Colorado Highlights
Вставка
- Опубліковано 15 чер 2016
- A compilation of some of Rashaam Salaam's highlight's at the University of Colorado. After a few fairly productive seasons, Salaam exploded in his last year to become Colorado's first and only Heisman trophy winner after a 2,000 yard season. He combined with Kordell Stewart to lead the Buffaloes to a near-championship in 1994.
The games I used to take the clips from can be found on Stephen Barnett's youtube channel (and there were a few other channels I used as well that you can find if you look around): / sbbarnet. .

Hurts my heart to find out he died today. RIP Rashaan.
He was one of my favorite college RBs of all time. Loved his vision and power. RIP RS.
he ran with force.... rest in peace brother
My favorite College Running back as a teenager. I remember I asked my stepmothers parents for a Rashaan Salaam jersey for Christmas because they lived in Strasburg Colorado, the first town I ever saw where people waved at each other just because you lived in the same town. They got my jersey gift wrapped at the store and when I opened the gift it was the wrong Jersey from CU, not a Salaam jersey. Salaams jersey was sold out everywhere and I never got my Rashaan Salaam jersey, I tried my friend RIP, God Bless you and your Family. layubarkuk aalrub
One Love.
Great runner, but those holes were HUGE! Great line! RIP.
RIP. I watched this guy growing up. He was a beast
Me and my little brother loved watching him play and thought he would rip the NFL open. Didn't know he passed away.
Rest in Peace Brother
R.I.P

Rip to a Cu Great
Legends never die kid.
🙏🏿 Rest In Peace 1 of the 4 San Diego Heisman Winners
I never heard of Colorado U until I heard of Rashaan Salaam. He carried that program.
I'm in Alabama fan but after hearing deion Sanders the new coach of Colorado I had to come and try to catch them in Colorado highlights that's worth watching
hopefully we will have more gamers like Rashaan under Deion
Rip one of my favorite running backs when I was growing up!!!
Him and Warrick Dunn.
Still one the greatest 8 man football players ever. RIP
R.I.P to a San Diego legend
R.I.P. Rashaan One of the best RBs. .Born: Oct 08, 1974 · San Diego, CA Died: Dec 05, 2016
Rest easy sir. As a Bears fan I loved watching your great rookie year. Hope your at peace
Colorado Legend!
He was a beast and literally came outta nowhere to win the heisman. Stewart was whom the buffs were pushing as they're candidate early on with even Westbrook as a darkhourse candidate ahead of Salaam! R.I.P.
Only people from Boulder will understand this. As a bouncer at Potter's I remember the few times he came in. You hardly knew he was there. He always looked like he was having a good time but making sure not to bring attention to himself. Always had a smile for everyone. On the other hand, I remember the time I had to kick Michael Westbrook out of Potter's however.
My mama always said I had his personality ❤️
RIP the Legend!!!!
I remember the 2000 yard season like it was yesterday. Used to go to every cu game with my dad during the glory days. Games were so fun, such a good atmosphere and tradition. sad what its turned into now
Coach Prime is here to restore the glory days…He’s coming!
Was fortunate enough to be classmates with Rashaan a year or two before he bowed out. Famous people make me nervous, but he was humble and understood. Tank of a man. An inch taller than me and had muscles in places I didn't know existed. Wish I'd have tried harder to become friends... I always assume the famous would have nothing to do me. Their time is valuable, so I try not to waste it. Anyway, our class ended and I didn't hear about him until, well, you know what happened. Sad.
P.S. Considering his size, I'd have made him TE. The RB position is typically for shorter dudes. At the NFL level, it's even harder to just bull through other men. Those are worldclass athletes and 6'1" doesn't make for a small target. They'll grab almost anything to yank you down. Oversized at RB. Might've been the reason his skills didn't translate to the NFL.
Dope highlights. RIP.
r.i.p big man. as a Trojan fan, i know the entire Pac12 is crying.
Fantastic video. played against Rashaan in high school way back in 89-90-91..We simply couldn't catch him and we were the champion team! His athletic ability was remarkable and did I mention fast?! :)
So he started as a freshmen? He was a few months younger than me and I'm guessing graduated HS in 93. I was a sophomore in 89-90.
@@fallguye6011 Yes sir! The day he turned 15 was his first varsity game against us (Francis Parker), and we were the champion team. He ran ALL OVER US, scored 4 td's, and ran for over 300 yards in that game!
@@TRODDEN666 Game had taken its toll on him by the time he hit the NFL, not to mention the pot. I felt bad when I saw he was gone.
8 man football huh
Never forget meeting him, RIP mayne
RIP
Rip no disrespect but his o-line was great they got him drafted didn't look the same when he went pro. Still a college legend tho
He did have almost 1100 rushing and 10 rushing TD’s his rookie year. Before a second year injury some trouble with fumbles and a Bears team that lacked overall talent. He was hope!! Definitely so talented.
Heisman Trophy winner and great dude!! Gone too soon. Saw him play in the NFL too with the Bears!!
God bless and thank you for the Big 8 memories.
Rest In Peace. Inspirational player.
Once A Chicago Bear...Always a Chicago Bear...Rest In Peace Brother
Rest in peace, Rashaan
I was number 19 never knew too many people with it def my fav player to wear it or Unitas
Thanks for making this video of a Colorado great!
Some candy is bittersweet.
Great video, thanks for sharing.
Man ... your videos are super awesome because they are live
Thanks :) Nothing beats the original crowd noise and announcers losing their minds over great plays (unless those announcers are Gary Danielson and Verne Lundquist)
I agree totally
One of the first college football players I idolized as a kid.
Rest In Power
RIP Brother.
I'm a die hard bears fan I was so excited that we drafted him l had hes Jersey in high school still a fan such a sad story.rip
RIP!
Michael the Archangel Dad I did that standing over my son Willie Michael Chester Junior his whole life. 6'5 210 bones matured cutest kid ever. He plays sports and acts like a grown man. Lethal force is necessary none.
1994 Colorado goes 11-1, They win the Fiesta bowl & Rashaan Salaam runs for 2,055 yes the 4th back ever at the time to run for 2,000 yds. Colorado beat Wisconsin, Michigan, Texas, Kansas St, Oklahoma, Notre Dame that year. From 1987 to 1996 Colorado buffaloes had a record of 93-23-4.
He ran for over 300 yards against Texas once, helluva legacy.
Yup i remember that... 🤘🏽
One of the best college backs all time.
His offensive line were people movers!
RIP 🙏🏾😪
I remember back in High School I played one season of football for Marina HS my Freshman Year. My main priority as a 130 pound scrub of a Freshman was to make sure that my jersey was always tucked deep into the bottom of my pads so any girls looking could see my abs. I remember I was playing a game against Huntington Beach high school and my goal oddly enough was to see if I could take a charging hit while holding my ground on the line, preparing to block for the kick returner. My opponent for this play was a fellow classmate & kind acquaintance from Mesa View High School named Damon Van Hoorebeke a large, strong experienced Running back and possibly linebacker. Why at 130 pounds and hardy large enough to play receiver was I blocking for kick returns is beyond me. There was no ill intentions from DVH & I think there was a last second recognition that it was him and an instant thought of "uh oh" then BAM. Well as I stood my ground Damon Van Hoorebeke ran through me like a pre game paper banner. I remember flying so hard to the ground with snot flying across my face from both nostrils. I laid on the ground in awe of the shocking hit I just took, & I never did that again. As much as flag football in middle school was probably the highlight of my life, I never again played tackle football after my Freshman Year because I valued my long term Health too much. Respect to Damon Van Hoorebeke, good dude
Coach Prime should bring that option play back, to Boulder
R.I.P.
May he RIP.
R.I.P. My Bro, Another Brotha gone too soon.
wow
r.i.p.
rest in peace
Coach prime.
Playing against tough teams. Oklahoma Michigan Nebraska
Vision is more important than speed. Rashaam was not a speed burner, his vision and cuts carried his career, Sorry that he ended his life. RIP, yes after many years, people still do think of Rashaam.
The funnybthingbis Westbrook and Stewart were pushed as the heisman candidates the preseason andvfirstv3rd of the season. But he just snapped thev2nd half running for like 300 yards vs Missouri.
RIP 🪦 😞 💔 🙏🏽 ❤️
Remember back in the day QB's played under center and they ran the ball
I always felt he was a product of his offensive line.

+PockyCandy great sorry about that! Please consider the other running backs.
in todays NFL , without the HUGE pads, he would be a wide receiver
You should do Adrian Peterson college highlights
He will get a video eventually. I'm a Vikings fan, so he HAS to get one.
Ight
+PockyCandy man you should put some background music
Korede Folorunso Why do I need to put music in it?
+PockyCandy it will attract viewers & since they like THE music they will watch it even more & GREAT HIGHLIGHTS+Music= AN AWESOME VID(I LOVE YOUR WORK MAN)
Everyone blocked back then
Ron Dayne
Yes, this video does not contain Ron Dayne.
Was it the bears who drafted him
Yes
Sure was. I played Madden '97 back in the day. He was on their roster. My pops was a Bears fan, that's what interested me in them
R.i.p but just an ok back
R.i.p to a HEISMAN TROPHY winner
I hear he recently became a good Muslim. Sounded like a difficult transition. Hope it works out.
salaam was too tall and lightweight to be effective in the NFL. ANY scout could have seen this from a mile away. the only scout that couldnt see it ....was that 1 scout that gambled he was the second coming of Eric Dickerson. Then Salaam found weed after he got drafted (i think) and the rest was history.....
you can tell because , EVERY play he wanted to get to the outside, he was trying to avoid contact at ANY cost
He had knee injury
Darryl D. Ruggs I always thought he was a little bit overrated. I never thought he should have won the Heisman but they gave it to him bc he had over 2,000 for his senior year. I felt he was a solid RB but nothing to scream about. He got a majority of his College yards off of the Option play, which we all know doesn't work in the NFL. I always knew he wouldn't be that affective in the NFL and I was right. I thought Carter from Penn State should have won the Heisman that year. I believe he came in second in the votes. Anyway, those are my thoughts.
Darryl D. Ruggs that doesn't matter right now. Pay some respect .
he was also one of the few youngest rookies to rush for 1000 yards.
He was never as effective as a Sanders, Smith, or Faulk were and too beat up from Colorado. Not like the Bears have had shabby RBs, either. Unless you're Sanders, or Jim Brown, not many measure up to that Payton guy they had, and we never knew how good Gale Sayers really could've been.
Great college player, absolute garbage in the NFL, culminating in a sad ending
He was 6'1". I knew him for a small amount of time. Classmates. Anyway, he was oversized for HB. He was a hulk. They could've used him as TE/FB instead.
The Rashaan Salaam Foundation. GOD please help us all
