I'm completely self taught, since none of the schools I went to had guard. I wish I had something like this years ago, but I'm glad its here now. Definitely going to use this to correct my form, thank you!
You are a great person to take out your time and demonstrate to the world on how to perfect their skills. Thank you!
This is so underrated I have been spending so much time watching color guard videos to prepare myself to join for the first time in august and this literally explains everything perfectly
Happy to help! I hope your first year is going well!
@@Keezfocer it is!! This video prepared me so well!!!
My Guard calls them “extensions” instead of “windmills”, but this was a really helpful video nonetheless! Definitely going to use this to help me practice and improve my form for the fall season.
Woah this is really long! Keep up the good work Chris can't wait to see you soon! If anyone's reading this go heckin get those basics down you got this!!!
Absolutely great explanations! I'll send some of my guardies your way to watch!
This was amazing! I’m quitting marching and I really want to do color guard next year. Tryouts are in April and it’s October right now lol, so I’m still marching at the games, but this is my last year. Thank you so much for this! I feel way more confident and excited!
How did you do?
@@SaxandRelax I made the team! I had an amazing football season and I’m the 2nd best on the team! (Everyone on the team was a beginner except one girl). I’m starting rifle now in winterguard!
@@choose_happyxo oh that great! I made the winterguard this year for the first time so excited
@@choose_happyxothat’s awesome I’m so proud of you! Our school had a couple of rifles but they wouldn’t let us use them! I wish they would have!!!
I can't believe I found this video lol, idk if you remember me but you are the first person that taught me how to spin. Fast forward and im in my 8th season, I'm q sophomore in college and I just tried out for my first drum corps. You are amazing and I hope you're doing well❤❤
I absolutely remember you!!! I am so happy that you continued doing guard! I hope college and life are going well!
i did colorguard back in high school and its been a few years since ive done it - but i really want to get back into it! thank you so much for this video!
It’s been like 19 years for me since I did it and I swear I just wanna buy one to practice on my yard just for fun and maybe teach my 8 year old so maybe she will get interested in it as she gets older
best video ever! next time, you should invert the video to make it easier to follow
Cicada noises, lol. I was recording the other day for my channel and the noise was so bad I ended up doing a voice-over. I feel your pain.
Very good👍
Thank you..
I do a right slam toss (the basic toss) but I keep catching it at the opposite angle. I’m not sure how to fix this.
Hello, great video.. May I ask if it's okay to use a stainless steel pole instead of an aluminum pole?
I’m trying to learn more after 2 year of not making my schools team.(how does a girl with a broken arm and an sprained elbow manage to make the team but I don’t and I have a good amount of knowledge?) but hear I am practicing every day and finally managed to do a pole hit toss. Time to learn more
Did you watch this whole video? Also has it gotten any better?
im like two years late to this vid, but i got tryouts in a week and i jus wanna know, can cones also be referred to as carves?? i think my school calls those carves
Absolutely, Emily! While most schools teach things similarly, my stuff is just one version out of many. Every school and coach has their own unique preferences that are a little different. My video offers guidelines, but it is always best to use the terms and counts that your coach specifically prefers.
Good luck at tryouts!
We didn’t call them cones or carves but I can’t remember what we called them but I know we called windmills either blue devils or Red Devils I wanna say we had one of each (which is crazy cuz I went to a baptist school hahahaha)!
Why do you do your basic toss with your left hand?
I actually tried out for color guard before it was geard towards boys to I know most of it
What's the material of the pole?
That one looks plastic ours were a lightweight metal
Please answer this!! What are they made of? Stainless steel or a pipe tube plastic?? really need answerrr
They’re hollow aluminum poles. Swing flags which are a little different than standard flags can have wooden poles or pvc pipe for really large flags.
How far are the cheaters apart from each other
Good question: they should be 1 foot apart.
