Same here. I prefer physical as that's what I've grown up with and appreciate having the game in my hands but digital is coming into the mix for me too.
I used to prefer digital for the convenience of downloading, and never having to swap out my discs. That was until gaming companies started de-listing digital games and removing your "license" for games that you bought! Now I only buy physical games.
What games have been delisted? I also like buying physical games but everyone says digital games can get removed but I am wondering how common it actually is and if the games being removed are even played.
@bigdurks, it's not that common, just yet, however you must have in mind that newer games even though they're single player they require you to be online which could give us the clue that if the company doesn't want to support the game it wpuld become inaccessible even tho it's single player
If you like ownership and showing your pride in what you own, then there’s only really one right answer. Nothing beats seeing someone’s passion for games when you step in their domain, not for when you have to start up a console and start up a game. And this is coming from someone with all 3, have a good Christmas and even better 2025!!!
Digital for convenience but there's just something about buying and holding a physical game. They are like trophy memories you can interact with and revisit what was going on in your life when you bought it or played it. I've bought more physical this year than previous years and love looking at my drawer full of titles
I play Videogames since the Nintendo NES, and therefore, i was completely in the physical timeline. However, since i also play on PC, I am quite familiar with the fact, that the future is digital only. I think players should be aware, that a ps6 wouldn't come with a disc drive for sure. Imho, the only downgrade is the point, that you can't resell them. On the other hand, the good things are way more present. No cd changes, the whole library is always ready, also on the go, etc.
NES is awesome! My journey started with PS1. I really see the convenience of digital but as a collector I love having physical items, things to display, look at and reminisce.
@button.bandit absolutely, i feel you! 😉 The thing is, i am also a movie collector. And if you have about 3000 movies on bluray, you start thinking about, how to save space... 😭🤣🤣 That was my main reason, for going digital. Happy collecting and take care! 😉👍🏼
Digital so i dont have to run to best buy or wallmart for a game and you can play all your games offline if your console is set to home consoles. Also disc drives can fail.
Physical all day, I can borrow a game to a friend, I can trade it in, digital in deep sales only, getting up to change a disk is hardly a major feat and I always get them cheaper and I usually get them at least 2 days early IF I have pre-ordered from TGC, the best place to buy games.
Depends on the game though, if it's an offline game that has the full game data on the disc, you can still play it in its original state but without patches or updates or online access. I've read posts of this happening to people all over Reddit who have had bans of some sort, who can still play certain physical games offline. Though it hasn't happened to me personally.
That’s literally barely rarely ever the case, as if you don’t like demos that require an internet connection, this “problem” magically goes away and doesn’t involve any sort of single player offline experience EVER.
I’m thinking about trading in my digital PS5 to get a PS5 slim disc edition mostly for the pricing and been watching a lot of videos that influence my mind of wanting to own my games. I already spent years building up my digital library since 2021 on the PS5 but I’m just switching especially the fact I can get ff16 and p3reload for $50 together which is like 80 or 90 on digital stores which is the discount price for both games combined together
At the end of the day I don’t exactly go off of which is better but rather which fits a person’s lifestyle better. Like if someone owns a ps5 but uses remote play because they aren’t home often, then they would be better off with digital games. If someone really doesn’t have the space to put all their physical games then it would probably be better for them to get the digital games. I am a huge collector of all sorts of things including games and one thing that I hate about having mostly physical games is that whenever I want to play a game via remote play away from home, I wouldn’t have the option to play other games besides the one I already have in my ps5.
Completely agree, I have been considering picking up a Portal and I did not consider the fact that I can only remote play whatever is in my console! Here's hoping the new cloud gaming feature holds up 😂
Maybe the PS7 even then I doubt it considering a solid 10% of people buy physical games that’s still millions of people plus was preventing online discord from just raising that number let’s say a popular game gets delisted or Ubisoft or some other company stir some controversy like the listing or removing a game from people’s library Plus, majority of the PlayStation fan base purchased the disc version of the PS5 compared to the digital ratio
I bought a COD Black Ops 6 disc, I can't use it now. I need help please. It's asking me to buy the game even tho I already bought the disc, I can't even play the campaign mode.
I prefer to buy digital but physical usually has a lot more deals so I go that way when it’s at a cheap price. So basically new games digital and older games physical
Ownership and something to proudly display on your home, or a PNG that is nothing more than a license and literally depreciates to $0.00 the moment you buy it? Truly a question for the ages
I dunno, I’d say physical since it doesn’t require an internet connection in order to redownload the game. Since starting with the PS4 and Xbox One, you still have to install games to the internal storage so it kinda makes physical Xbox and PlayStation games pointless if you’re concerned with saving space. But I’d also go with digital considering it much more difficult to lose your copy of a game. I experienced this firsthand when I lost my physical copy of Sonic Frontiers due to my old PS5 becoming broken beyond repair and them throwing out the console because of it.
Both have their advantages and disadvantages, I've lost a bunch of physical games and accessories, but I also have been hacked before. Thankfully I did not have much in digital at the time, and I was able to recover my account. But I guess it's about finding what works best for you.
I was gonna go all digital but every game I had for my birthday was physical(obviously) and every game I want for Christmas will be physical. However I will still buy games like call of duty and games that's primarily online, I will buy digital
I feel like if the game u really wanted or enjoyed or big releases i would be buying a physical copy but if the game is like a remaster or has a good deal on it I would buy it digitally but I say physical copies any day because of ownership reasons
That is true not every physical game has the full game on disc, especially larger games or ones that have constant updates, feels redundant to have a disc, but, I still do like having something to hold in my hands and display as a collector. Thanks for watching!
I have about 150 Ps4/5 Games that are complete on the Disc. 100 more Ps3/Xbox 360 Games. The only Scam Game that is not complete on Disc is this worthless GT7. I don't know where people like you get such information..?
Only Physical for me... I love collecting games and seeing them in my shelves! ow! and those sweet sweet steel book looks awesome if you have it too...
For realy cheap games i perfer digital i have few physical ps1/ps2/pc games newest one is modern warfare 1 2007 and i still keeping but i dont have any accses thes i dont have any dvd reader
“Convenience “ just means that you are lazy. “Have to get up to swap discs” , “ have to leave the house to buy a game”. “My disc is in a different case because I’m too lazy to put inside the correct case”, discs get scratched because I don’t take care of my things. The list goes on. I literally don’t see a single benefit of digital. You don’t own it, you can get easily banned and lose access to all your games, games get delisted all the time. More expensive than physical. Very hard to get refunds on PSN. Can’t sell the game you bought. Just terrible all around. But I guess people prefer “convenience” because they are super lazy.
@@Oneserioustiger no because one day sooner or later those games will end up in the trash. Also by fabricating them and transporing them trucks pollute

There's a special place in gamer hell for people who don't put the disc back into the correct case...
😂 right in the firey depths!
I prefer digital. I have a PlayStation Portal now and it has done wonders for me with completing my backlog even when I’m away from home
That's amazing! Have you tried the cloud gaming beta update with it?
I prefer physical because it has a special and also you can resell them which usually ends up being cheaper than buying digitally
Physical. Buying them second hand from CEX via voucher system is 👌
CeX is great! Rounded out my AC collection there.

Absolutely agree, nothing like remembering special moments when holding something physical in your hands 🙌🏻
Always thought digital because of having discs that were damaged but once I learnt to take care of them physical all the way for sure
I never had a disc get bad, expected one or two on wii but when I had the wii I was like 7 so I probably just threw the disc in the cases 😂
I have never seen anyone have broken CDs lying around. Even my messy cousins have dirty but not broken games. Some aren’t even in the case. 😅

Also disc drives can fail.
Very fair point! Never had to face a disc drive failure myself but now I'm scared 😂
The chances of your disc drive failing are so low.
I prefer the best of both worlds. But lean more to physical because I like to collect.
Physical all day, I can borrow a game to a friend, I can trade it in, digital in deep sales only, getting up to change a disk is hardly a major feat and I always get them cheaper and I usually get them at least 2 days early IF I have pre-ordered from TGC, the best place to buy games.
Fyi physical games are also just a license , they can also revoke your use of the game if they decide to, it’s in the terms of use
Depends on the game though, if it's an offline game that has the full game data on the disc, you can still play it in its original state but without patches or updates or online access. That's false. Majority of games are fully on disc.
That’s literally barely rarely ever the case, as if you don’t like demos that require an internet connection, this “problem” magically goes away and doesn’t involve any sort of single player offline experience EVER.
Physical, you own it’s, it’s yours, digital you’re just buying a license which they could take away from you at any time

The hybrid approach is great, you can make the best of both by getting the better deal when it comes to discounts between physical and digital.
@ yes definitely worth it much more smaller. It looks nicer than my original. PS5 can’t wait to start building my physical library.
Digital, coz once’s that disc breaks you gotta buy it again

Im on PC so most of my Games are digital since more than 12 years
I still have the last PC physical games I had bought which were World of Warcraft and Sims 3 with various expansions.
Would digital have discounts if it wasn’t for physical copies?

Probably not. If we the future is digital only then Sony and Microsoft can set whatever price they want for games.

Me and my brother share a console so physical is better since buying digitally is linked to one account.
Look into Console Sharing feature on PS or Game Share for Xbox.
Physical games 100% all day everyday. Digital games are anti-consumer and a digital only future will suck for console players.
I hope we continue with both I love physical games and prefer them but I appreciate the convenience of digital.
