@@GreenerGrass Hi Jeb, Amazing job on this video! I made sure to come back for 250K subs to celebrate, I used to watch you all the time, when I had time on my hands 😂
As a Greek, hearing someone highlight the lesser known Aegean Airlines, and to have such a positive experience on both the airline and country is genuinely nice to hear. See you in the sky Jeb!
Aegean are an absolute gem among European airlines! Whenever I fly on a route where it's possible to book with them, I don't hesitate, even if it means a longer layover or a higher price.
I almost cried out of joy hearing all these beautiful comments about Greece. It was such a moving video for me, a greek girl trying to become a cabin crew member for Aegean
I take Aegean everytime I go to Greece for the short hops from Athens to the islands. Clean planes, friendly and professional crew, nice snacks, and always a pleasant flight.
Pretty much 10 years ago I took a flight from Switzerland to Athens with Aegean. It was a 737 if I'm not mistaken. Everything was fine, crew was very helpful, food was good and in general it was a great first impression. Weather conditions started to become apocalyptic as soon as we started flying over Italy. It became even worse as we flew over Greece. Rain, thunders and wind. Everything was shaking. But despite the condition the pilot managed to make one of the smoothest landings I've ever experienced. Crazy thing this happened to me again 6-7 years ago in a flight from Athens to Bucharest with Olympic. Not as bad but still we faced rain and wind.. in an atr 42... I was scared.. a lot, but pleasantly surprised as we landed like it was nothing. Cabin crew was calm like this happens every single flight. What I want to say is that when you choose a Greek company you will get some of the most professional crews! Pilots and cabin crew! Hats of to these extremely capable and professional people!
It is maybe due to the fact that the majority of Greek airliner pilots are retired airforce jet pilots. This trend starts now to fade away, but if you see a Greek airliner pilot over the age of 40, most likely he is an ex f16 pilot.
I've heard nothing but good things about Aegean, the fact that you got actual food and wine on an hour-long domestic flight speaks volumes. I'll definitely give them a go if/when I'm ever back in Greece (went to Corfu in 2015, loved it!!)
Lovely to see you enjoying Greek travel and Greek airports. I first flew into Corfu in 1973, and the welcome, the heat, the bus, the uncomfortable lounge seat are all the same. It is part of the charm of Greek travel. Love it !
I'm Greek and always traveling with Aegean from Greece to any destination in Europe. For me is one of the best airline now in Europe. I want to see them traveling all over the world like the Olympic airways in the past.
Totally agree on Aegean: Excellent cabin service and professional crews. I'm also sometimes amazed at Aegean's low airfares. Definitely a top European carrier.
stairs are so much better as a feeling. Im a Greek and lived out of Greece for some years. the flight that got me back to my country wasn't a gate,so i still remember that feeling when i got out of the aircraft and smelled the air i missed so much before getting inside the bus. Feeling the heat of the sun, the air blowing, seeing around the landscape i missed, it's just something an enclosed gate can't provide.
When it comes to reclining your seat in economy there are a few rules I follow… 1) I don’t recline my seat on flights that are 3 hours or less 2) I don’t recline my seat during meal times 3) I try my best to slowly recline my seat and also take a peek to make sure that the person be hind me isn’t getting served a beverage, using the tray table, using a computer, etc.
As someone who stands 6’4, I never recline my seat because I know how frustrating it is when others do it to me. Always relieved when there’s no one behind me.

I agree with you being 6'6". On most airlines, the person in front cannot recline their seat as my legs stop it. On one occassion when the bloke infront insisted on reclining his seat for an hour flight, I politely stood up, stood next to his seat and asked him nicely not to destroy my kneecaps. I think that he got the message because he went ashen faced, and didnt say a word during the flight and seemed to have a short connection when he left the plane. I was always brought up to be polite and courteous, which I was. It just helps to have the physique of being a mighty big stick. Golden rule think of others before you do.
@@nibzee I would have still reclined my seat, I paid for that flight/seat just like you and have just as much rights to be comfortable during that flight ! ( I'm 6 foot tall)
Jeb!!! YOU ARE KILLING ME!!!! Right as the video started I knew exactly where you were. I lived about 10 miles east of Iraklion back in the late 80s. I ran through that fort a few times.
I’ve loved my Aegean flights. Even on a 28 minute flight from Athens to Santorini, we had a breakfast served to us in business. Again, nothing too crazy, but delicious and totally unexpected. Makes it worth the booking even on the short hop.
This airline treatment is the most professional treatment I've ever seen in Western airlines. Since then every time I fly from Paris to Athens I choose Aegean over any other airline. Including Air France. Whomever that's in charge in that airline they're doing a terrific 👏 job!
I recline carefully and not fully. I also think if someone is highly against having someone recline in front of them, they should do everything they can to book a bulkhead seat.
Now I’ve finally learnt whatever happened to Olympic, which used to fly frequently to our ports here in Australia. Another great mini review, Jeb, & kudos to Aegean for making it worthwhile to fly Business, however short the journey. Cheers!
I cannot wait to go flying a Q400 for the first time and then an A321n on Alaska. Then the return flights, on United, a B777-300er and a CRJ-700! Both for the first time as a 14-year-old.
Very nice video! The Olympic airlines 747 shown in your video , The Olympic Eagle flew me and my parents Athens-JFK in June of 1985 Bringing us to America for a new beginning! That plane is still at the old Ellinikon airport that is been remade in to an amazing residential and resort park And the eagle has been parked next to the old international terminal and is going to be part of the aviation museum at the new Helinikon Park project!
Early last year I flew Icelandair between Seattle and Glasgow, and on the flight from Glasgow to Keflavik I was the only one in business class. That sure was a unique experience! I'm glad you were able to enjoy the same thing.
I remember getting first class to myself on Cathay from Vancouver to Hong Kong and the best flight ever. When I arrived at the gate, they looked at my boarding pass and told me that i had to change seats as 1A's tv wasnt working. I asked them where they wanted me to sit, and they told me to pick any seat as i was the only one in that cabin. During the flight i found it weird because there was no noise or movement. I got up and saw the staff trying to eat meals on their laps in their jumpseats. I told them that I felt uncomfortable with no movement and said it looked awkward and uncomfortable the way they were trying to eat their meals and that I had the perfect solution. I had the purser and two stewardesses taking a seat in first while they ate their meals, and watched a movie or two. Had the pilots use first seats for their rest instead of business. We just had fun and it was the most memorable flight. Unfortunately it was the second last flight with Cathay as I got switched to a middle eastern airline, but their customer service was always first rate, and this particular flight was so much better.
Awesome video as always, definitely gave me some ideas of visiting Greece and how to travel! As someone who is 6 foot tall I do recline on long haul flights more than on short haul ones, but I make sure to turn around and check that the person behind me is alright with me doing that. Definitely a bonus when there is an empty seat behind you!
Austrian did send the 777 to Heraklion every Saturday, but this isn't the only wide-body serving the city in 2021. There was: Edelweiss A340, LOT 787-8&-9, TUI 787-8, Condor's 767 and TUI's 767-300ER's, neos 787-8&-9, Sunclass A330-200&-300 as well as some 757's of condor and TUI, and some happy surprises such as Rossiya's 747-412 and Swiss 777-300ER. And this was only in 2021! And for the record, Heraklion is the second busiest airport by traffic in Greece
I wish I could go back to Greece. I went to Lesbos and Athens back in 2013 and loved it. I wish I could have flown on a Greek airline, but am glad I was able to fly on KLM AMS to IST.

Wow! 🤩 what a great video, I really enjoyed this one and I can’t wait to fly Aegean 🇬🇷 someday 😅 Also Jeb did you know at 6:21 there are still several Olympic Air 737-300s and 747-200s left abandoned and rotting away at the old Athens Ellinikon Airport (before the current Athens ATH Airport was built)😅
Great vlog as always! I am so short, only 175cm, so most times I do not need to recline. Also I have had three back surgeries, so the more strait my seat back is, the better. When I do need to, I ask the person behind me. I never recline during meal service. That is a no no.
I must've just missed you, I was in Crete 3 weeks ago. Hope you had a great time!! I looked it up one day and there were over 30 flights to Germany/Austria. Crazy!
About Olympic: The company was founded by Aristotelis Onassis in 1950's. He sold the company in the Greek State in 1973 after his son Alexander died flying a private plane of the family (no relation with Olympic). It was a state of the art Airline where the Uniforms of the Flight Attendants where designed by Pierre Cardin and passengers where literally eating with golden cutlery. It actually raised the standards for every airline in wolrd as it was the first to launch luxury travel before it was cool (It was like the Emirates Airlines but in the 60's and 70's) The Greek State was/is as corrupt as you Can't imagine and started doing bad management. They were using the airline for political reasons (Vote me and you kid will work in Olympic). So they got the airline bankrupt and sold it for a piece of bread to Aegean airlines after trying without success to make it profitable for many years. In Greece we were calling the Olympic of the 5 continents and if you see the logo you will see the circles of the Olympic games. Now Aegean has a business model with short-mid haul flights and they are not going to fly a widebody for next years as they ordered 30 x A320 family (incl 10 A321 neos).
The Greek Islands are one of the most popular holiday destinations to us from Nothern Europe (Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Germany) in the summer and fall. At winter it is the Canary Islands and Thailand. Greetings from Denmark😊 🇩🇰
Aegean fly from Athens to London Heathrow. I first discovered the airline not long after they started flying from the UK to Athens and my first flight was at budget airline price but scheduled airline food and service. My favourite airline.
Had a tiny bit worse (but still amazing) experience on a 2hour 30min flight from Athens to Tel Aviv on April of this year. The food was great (there was a fruit platter for the start, then either a crepe with chocolate vanilla ice cream and berries or pumpkin pie and some snacks and nice extras, no wines though, only soft drinks. Weird.) but the crew were amazing. Really nice and a stark contrast of Lufthansa crew.
I liked getting off a TWA 747 outside in Rome it the 1980's. I also deplaned outside at Heathrow on a DC-10 in the early 90s on United. I did it in Hawaii on a 747 in the 80s. I wish I had taken pictures.
They also give meals on short international flights as well in business and economy. I flee economy from Rome to Athens in 2018 and I got meatballs, potatoes, green beans and a pack of cookies. Aegean really goes above and beyond
Jeb as always a great vlog and Aegean is a great airline Jeb eccentric ? Nah Your snack looked delicious Delta in particular needs to restore service and stop being greedy
He has quite the collection! I recently started watching this channel and have started to notice his pieces. On the Amtrak video I spotted him wearing a Patek Aquanaut Travel TIme (my all time favorite watch) and in another vid saw the GMT Master II Batman. Would like to see a video of his full collection!
To be more accurate. Your flight was an Olympic Air flight operated by Aegean. Olympic Air is part of the Aegean group and operating the whole domestic network in co operation with Aegean. All the domestic flights are marked OA/OAL.
I've never even thought about reclining my seat - I usually do it. I'll be more aware of how crowded the plane is going forward. Safe travels everyone.
I like a bus gate too. I have a bad back so I really would like to recline to take pressure off my lower disc. I try to do a half recline but will sit up if asked.
Dear Jeb, I have flown with Aegean to Athens from LHR on a number of occasions. I used them because of their free seating policy and because, as you say the staff are pleasant. However my last trip a month or so ago, they have decided to charge for seating, which is a great shame. not only that, but I was charged £50 for luggage to go in the hold, Yes, it was overweight by 3 KG's, BUT the plane was 3/4 full and the overheads had plenty of space. I was really teed off. PS. I like your watch collection. Best regards, David
Swiss is not the only airline that uses a widebody on short-haul routes at the moment. In addition to the high demand, the training for the crews is of course a reason now that long-haul flights are increasing again. For example, the Lufthansa flight from Frankfurt with a 747-8 and from Munich with an A350 to Mallorca. But in the past widebodies were normal on some islands during holyday season. For example, when I watch a planespotter video from Mallorca from the 90s. One widebody after the other. DC10, L1011, 747 etc.
I fly.in FC so I don't have issue with people when I recline my seat. I don't get those who think people shouldn't, that's what they paid for. If someone reclining upsets you, you should buy FC tickets. If you can't, it's part of flying.
I flew out of Heraklion after a trip to Crete back in early September. It’s incredibly small for the amount of traffic it gets, the hotel I was staying in was under the flight path and I could count 20-30 airliners each day. Sadly this is the same for pretty much every Greek island airport, far too small to be handling thousands of tourists at a time. On the bright side, Heraklion is a beautiful city and I highly recommend it to anyone going to Crete. I also highly recommend Chania, it is arguably even more beautiful than Heraklion, although its airport faces similar issues
Yeah, those airports are from a past era, where Greece had much less tourism. You have to also consider that this amount of traffic applies for only 3-4 months a year. The rest of the year it's much quitter.
Thankfully, a lot of them got new or expanded terminals in the past 2 years, notably Corfu, Kos, Rhodes, Santorini, Mykonos, Cephalonia, Chania, and Zakynthos. Heraklion got a small temporary expansion, but a brand new airport is under construction further inland to replace this one.
Actually, I get a thrill of boarding/deplaning via air stairs instead of the jet bridge 👍🏻. If you ever find yourself booking ATH/LHR or vice versa, I’d highly recommend Aegean. Food and inflight service is terrific! Loved seeing all the wide body aircraft on the tarmac 🛫
Great Video!! If i pay for my seat, and i have the option to recline, i will do it ! i still don't understand why this topic has become such a talking point pf people complaining. Seats recline for a reason, and if you pay it, you can use it. Of course I don't recline really fast, i do it carefully, but i am entitled to do so!
I am almost silver member on their frequent flyer program and I really love Aegean! I live on Crete and regularly travel to The Netherlands, and Aegean is my airline of choice! Too bad they don't fly directly to AMS, but a quick stopover in ATH is no big deal. Can't wait to try business class too because I always fly economy, but when I finally become silver member I get two upgrade coupons :D
So great!! Seeing my favourite youtuber travel my parents home country is just amazing! I have so many memories of that Olympic 747 as a kid and then their upgraded A340. Wish I could see a jeb score on the old olympic airways
Reclining the seat is OK in my opinion, though I ask the person behind if there is one if it's ok with them. Obviously, I don't do it during the meal(s) or if the person behind has their stuff on the table.
Thank you, sir! Nice video but unfortunately too short because Greece is such a tiny country. You said the name of the Greek aviator quite well! Not as a Greek would say it but quite well! If you wonder what it means (Argyropoulos) it means the son of a man who's name derives from silver (the metal) Silverson. Like Jameson or Fordson. Argyris (m) and Argyro (f) are common Greek first names. Thanks again! Always nice to see my islands, even on a video from a great distance of them.
I had some flights with Aegean back in 2018. Brussels-Athens-Larnaca and back. While I flew in Economy, it was still the best food I’ve ever had on a flight, far better than the standard for European Flights.
Great review of Aegean, Jeb! Flew with them from Athens to Santorini and was impressed by the service despite such a short sector. I will definitely fly with them again in future.

Πες και για τον Βγενόπουλο.
You did really good with the name! Glad you liked my home country.
I flew Aegean from Athens to Istanbul pre Covid in biz and was very impressed
The Greek Islands are one of the most popular holiday destinations to us from Nothern Europe (Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Germany) in the summer and fall. At winter it is the Canary Islands and Thailand. Greetings from Denmark😊 🇩🇰
Aegean is my favourite airline. Fantastic service and crew. Check out their frequent flyer plan. A hidden gem in Star Alliance
I think you should make a new Jeb score for economy and domestic businesses classes that takes away the lounge category
Corfu is amazing. Beautiful Island. I used to visit St Georges south when I lived in the Uk. Great review.
Yep I totally agree it is I did a trip review on them this year and they are still the best in my eyes
I liked getting off a TWA 747 outside in Rome it the 1980's. I also deplaned outside at Heathrow on a DC-10 in the early 90s on United. I did it in Hawaii on a 747 in the 80s. I wish I had taken pictures.
5:21 I will recline no matter what. I paid for my seat, I get use any features that come with it. Besides you can also recline yours.
They also give meals on short international flights as well in business and economy. I flee economy from Rome to Athens in 2018 and I got meatballs, potatoes, green beans and a pack of cookies. Aegean really goes above and beyond
Getting your own bus is a good perk on the Business class.
Alaska’s seats are the best for reclining, the tray is on a separate frame from the chair so they can recline without messing with anything
Beautiful Omega!
Jeb as always a great vlog and Aegean is a great airline
Jeb eccentric ? Nah
Your snack looked delicious
Delta in particular needs to restore service and stop being greedy
I hate flying Delta! Worst FA’s in the air.
AT World Timer! Beautiful Watch.
See you in a Swiss train video one day.
Thank you very much, Jeb, for sharing your great video with us.
I like a bus gate too. I have a bad back so I really would like to recline to take pressure off my lower disc. I try to do a half recline but will sit up if asked.
You probably won’t see this but I love seeing my own companies planes in your video. D-ASAP flies for Air Hamburg Private Jets 😍
Dear Jeb,
I have flown with Aegean to Athens from LHR on a number of occasions.
Best regards,
David
Excellent video as always Jeb!😸
What fun! I'm with you that it is nice to see an airline treat passengers right, even if the flight is only an hour!
Thumbs up for Aegean that resist the low-cost bait, and keep their high quality services.
I actually flown on the edelweiss a340 from Zurich to jfk was nice
Wish I could see a jeb score on the old olympic airways
enjoy your flight with aegean airlines 👍🖒🙏
Really awesome!
