Ladder matches can work, if the participants understand how to make it believable. Sadly, most of the time, their timing is completely off and they have those idiotic "I hang on the ladder, not moving because my opponents remains on the mat", the "i climb so slowly i might actually move backwards in time" and of course the ridiculous "i take 2 steps, pretend to be the size of gianz gonzales and streeeeeeeetch my arm to reach the belt, instead of climbing up further" spots. They don't add drama, they just make it look even more fake.
