According to IM ALEX Banzea you are supposed to put pawn on e6 to protect pawn in Panov attack. While this keeps bishop on back rank, you solidify and hold center
Hey, I'm GarlicTuna. That was a good game, thanks for playing. While I was a little disapointed about losing, I took away some good ideas from it. 1. It was interesting to see how you had some completely different ideas than I did. There were several times I could have captured the other pawn but I kinda figured, "well I already have one pawn, let's get developed so my opponent can't attack my exposed king,". Then by the time 13.Bc7 happened I was worried about my queen getting trapped, your pieces were probably in a good position to defend a kingside attack, and I thought I had enough activity and a pawn advantage to justify cashing in. 2. After the game the engine pointed out that 8.c5 gives a very nice protected passed pawn that could end the game very quickly. That's an idea I will keep in mind for future games. 3. Everything was going so well in the endgame until about 29.g4 when I got tunnel vision on the very aesthetically pleasing idea of mating/windmilling with the bishop pair. I could have just traded the bishop for the knight at any time to get three passed pawns with the potential for a fourth. In fact, after 30...Kh7 neither of us realized for a whole 3 moves that the knight was hanging because of a pin. I definitely need to get better at recognizing that when I am up in material it is time to focus on avoiding blunders. 4.About the clock. That is just how I have always played. It must be a hereditary thing because my dad is even slower. I wish I didn't use so much time but it is what it is. Believe it or not, my time management used to be worse so I am glad to be improving some. Part of my problem in endgames is certainly getting low on time and my blunder can be partially attributed to that.
Oh my god i didn't even notice the knight was hanging when i done the review. I didn't see it until you said that and i went back and checked. Your time was well spent. You used a lot of it but the moves you were making were good. every move you made felt like one body blow after another. You got a little lower on time that i think is ideal but you were making good use of it. You had a completely dominant position and really just gave me nothing to work with. you got up a pawn or two then forced my queen off the board your pieces were swarming mine and it just was a dominant position. The blunder at the end was costly but that was such a well played game by you. I really didn't deserve to win that game at all. A really good game buddy thanks for playing and thanks for coming and watching the video and telling me what you were thinking too. its always interesting to me to know what the person on the other side of the board was thinking/seeing too.
That was crazy. I enjoy the videos you go through the review because I get emotionally invested in the game and want to see if I was right or not on certain moves. So appreciate your going the extra step to review the game.
Thank you. I like to do the reviews but when i get crushed I get so frustrated with myself i cant stand to see the game again lol I need to get over that if I am going to make the youtube videos i have to swallow my pride a little and do the review win or lose. I will try to always do them going forward.
i can help you with the panov if you want, white actually played the critical line in this game so it’s now wonder you were out prepared. there’s a really nice line as black where you sacrifice the pawn

One blunder and the game is lost
yea it was a costly blunder at the end but he beat me up the entire rest of the game
That is the case in Panov attack. Have to keep bishop back initially. This position kinda transpose into French defense.
Yea I’m definitely keeping the bishop at home from now on

any help is much appreciated buddy. I clearly have no idea what I am doing lol
27:10 bishop first doesn’t trap the rook?
I looked at that and I still dont see how to trap the rook
