    If you really want to learn about this opening, I suggest you watch chesscenturion. He is rated about 2000. He plays 15/10 rapid games and explains all the ideas of all the games he plays. He plays the Caro Kann with black and has many games against high rated opponents with accuracies in the high 90's. I like your channel but IMHO, you have no business trying to teach or explain chess. This video was absolutely horrible. Just my opinion and I call'em like I see'em.

      Question: Why are you playing 15/10 and blitzing out moves to where you end up losing with more time on your clock than you started with? Use your time to think! Otherwise just play blitz. This comment is to your opponent.

    When your opponent has only the dark-square bishop, what color should you favor for every piece in an end game? It sure as heck is NOT the dark squares.

    • @Redneckchessclub

      yea the thinking though was that i also have a dark squared bishop and i was worried more about getting a queen than stopping him from threatening the pawns because if i had to sacrifice a bishop i could because I would be up a queen

    Well played. That's what I was talking about when I wrote don't worry about trapping a pawn -- the "order of operations" I was taught was (1) is your king in danger?, (2) can you put his king in danger?, (3) can you fork or pin one of his pieces?, (4) can you trade pieces for value?, and (5) can you improve your position generally?

  • @mevansthechemist
    @mevansthechemist 5 днів тому

    Don’t think your machine was chugging along for enough depth there, Bill. 12 Bxh7?? Kxh7 13 Ng5+ Kg6! 14 Qg4 with less than diddly after returning the material with 14…Ne3!! or expelling the queen with 14…f5. As you move up the ranks-which you surely will!-fewer players will fall for this.

    • @mevansthechemist
      @mevansthechemist 5 днів тому

      Interestingly, black’s d5 knight was key. Put that knight on e7 instead and you’re back to winning after Qg4, since …f5 runs into Qh4 with a pretty mate threat and …Nf6 (another way to expel the queen) is impossible!

    Great video. Very instructive for lower rated players. I've always played the Ruy and love it. You learn to play all kinds of chess, (tactical and sharp, positional etc) depending on how your opponent responds, and it will be your friend for as long as you play chess.

    @ChristianSoldier2024 8 днів тому

    I really love your channel, but that analysis was absolutely awful. If a 1400 or 1500 fell for that they must have been cheating to get there. What if black plays b5 instead of knight out. Just telling it like I see it. And I am not very good at chess.

    • @Redneckchessclub
      @Redneckchessclub 8 днів тому

      I said they won’t lose the queen once you’ve gotten to that rating. But I do get the line where they lose the bishop and get their pawn structure destroyed. It’s just a really tricky line and that’s the potential trap that they can fall into.

    • @MarcusChapman-px6jq
      @MarcusChapman-px6jq 8 днів тому

      You get your bishop to b3 which is exactly where you wanted it all along. The guy says right from the start that it's not gonna be high level. Very Christian of you to make a vicious and unwarranted personal attack on this gentle open-hearted and very funny man. Shove your idiot criticism where the sun don't shine pal. lately I've been playing the vienna system, similar to the ruy lopez in that there's a lot of ways it can be aggressive with attacks and traps and a lot of ways it can become quiet and strategic. this was a great video! i was playing the spanish a lot when i was about 600 early last year, it's definitely an opening I'd like to learn more about and revisit when i want something new.

    I've been watching so many 2500+ games, I had totally forgotten how many people think that chess is just moving pieces in random directions. Thanks for the laugh.

    Generally, it is not preferable to draw forward pawns TOWARD your king. Away is usually better. And you ALWAYS run out of time -- when an obvious move arrives, just take the damn move.

    One lousy fuckup …………doh! Check out Robert Ramirez, he plays Kings Indian/Modern almost exclusively and explains his moves well. He’s got a ton of videos.

    It may help you if you spend more time analyzing your games after you're done with them. This is also a recommendation of ChessDojo.

      I think you are right about that. I should spend more time looking at the game especially when i lose

    Congratulations on the win. Because of your videos I am playing 15 minutes games. I am doing much better. My elo is 821 from 779 in rapid.

      Congratulations buddy. I like the slower time controls because it gives you more time to think through your moves.
