Matt, you're an inspiration...only been subscribed and watching your covers for a few months now but whenever I watch you I get so pumped to get on my kit. Please can you explain how to practice the push pull technique & is it similar to the way you do a double stroke roll?
bad ass much needed tip for how to push the limits. I was so frustrated when I first saw a video from u and was in shock at how fast one hand could move now I can practice for myself thanks👍
Your drumming is so beautiful and captivating. It is so far beyond the mortal understanding that many humans must doubt you and your awesome power Matthew. But your gift is one of mystical cosmic scale proportions. "Where Before only droplets fell.. Now an Ocean Reigns over them all." ~ B:Soulful;BeYourTruth
my sticks never go above my hands; I've never known any other technique than single strokes until after I bought the WFD pad. I like your smiley at the end
The Gladstone and Moeller technique can help get you to this point. Although its gonna be a lot of tediously playing slow to get you up to his speed and consistency. Great job man, really impressive control and technique
How much are you relying on the rebound on the surface? Could you do this on a floor Tom? What about a concert bass drum. What are the limitations to this technique.
If you try working your left hand the same, "ghost notes" are a breeze. If you try using this technique with flamadiddles and paradiddles, the fluidity increases. Good video over all though! Have a try at the two-two with paradiddles as hitting two notes with one hand then switching over to the other; left, left, right, right, left, left, right, right, left right, left, right. Then initiate with the other hand. I can get up to 192 bpm.
does that work well on a set? i've seen his lane boy 21P cover and he uses it for hi hat, but there's way less rebound on a hi hat as opposed to a rubber pad.
I seriously need to practise this...
Matt McGuire is motivation personified.
*Practice 😂😂😂😂 Practise?? 😂😂😂😂
this is so satisfying
Thats amazing, but I was hoping to learn HOW to do this!
Practice! :) This is the only way to ever do anything new on an instrument
Found out how. You pull your fingers on every other note so that you would hit once, on the rebound pull, and hit two notes with one swing.
Taylor Moore 100th like
Taylor Moore SAME
there’s a long series of videos for this
1 year of hard work and this technique is mine :D Thx Matt )

After an hour of despair and effort, i brought this to a 50bpm speed with a decent technique
Amazing !!!!!
This is exactly how I do a double stroke roll. Just a different flow I'm not used to. I could probably pick this up pretty quick. Very useful!
I'm a drummer but fairly new at it, and let me just say that my speed sucks and your drumming level is my goal
Well now after two years, did you reach your goal ?
Anas SENHAJI Its gonna take more than 2 years man! Matt's been playing for 17 years!! 17 years vs 2 years...

Thank you, been struggling with this off and on for ab a year, I didn't know there was a difference between the push pull and moeller tho.

There are no limitations there are only solutions...
Omfg dude, but i think i prefer the flying finger tech, this is killer bro, gj! 🤘

Do some more tutorials bro
It helps a lot
OMG!
howwww!!!????
:( same here!!
manpivot2 Practise.
You tell me
WHAT HIGHLANDER DO I HAVE TO KILL TO ACQUIRE THIS POWER!?
Perfect👍 is that open close technique or push pull technique?
Wait, when you played those 16th notes with one hand, were you using the rim to get those additional strokes or just pure hand movements?
Monstercraft fingers
Monstercraft maybe he used the rim
use both. fingers for push pull to get the double notes on the rim
no rim involved in this technique, that's something else.
WoW!!!!!
that was quite impressive! Can you alternate both hands like this?
You emmmmmm god
holy shit😍
toppppeerrr
even matt's left hand is not as on point as his right hand , that's comforting
Just, HOW!!????
....I need dis..
Nice..
Matt Mcquire did you play in marching band? In marching band we always did that tap at the end, just like you're doing here
does that work well on a set? i've seen his lane boy 21P cover and he uses it for hi hat, but there's way less rebound on a hi hat as opposed to a rubber pad.
