    Engine rebuild and turbo will be way cheaper then an engine swap. Most enginer swaps in the 86 platform are 15k and up. Fabrication will be the costly part.

    • @ConnerRhysuk
      @ConnerRhysuk  Місяць тому

      I know it would probably end up being more expensive, than a rebuild and turbo. It always does 😂 however I think it's a great idea regardless and would be really cool to do!

      @@ConnerRhysuk It would be. There are a few in the owners group that are in the process or have done it. Think they was north of 20k by the end. A NA K24 swap is going to be min 15k

      The 1uzfe is a pretty cheap engine though, surely that would bring the cost down a little bit? ( genuinely curious )

    • @Kaz590
      @Kaz590 Місяць тому

      @@Nolongerinuse_ it's not just the cost of the engine. It's the fabrication to make it fit and work. It's the electronics to get it to run. A k24 is fairly cheap, but the swap kit is 11k or more.

    How much power are you realistically trying to run, I would argue that you’ll be less stress and impressed by adding a supercharger application. I personally have a Jackson racing kit and I just had to tune it and it’s reasonably reliable at low boost, making 300

    • @ConnerRhysuk
      @ConnerRhysuk  Місяць тому

      I'd ideally like to get about 400bhp out of it. But I know those are high numbers for the fa20

    Answer
    Yes absolutely
    Buuuut
    only if it's the Toyota v8
    Like a 1uzfe or from the same family, which is considered one of the most reliable engines on the world, and while it's not very popular so you can find them cheap.
    And since they are built like tanks and are very good and reliable engines you can get allot of reliable power out of them
    I personally think the 1uz is a cooler and better engine in every way to the 2jz and i prefer it over the 2jz.
    Too bad it's not very popular as it's a great engine
    If you la swap it it's still cool but nothing really that cool and i personally wouldn't care to see that .
    Ferrari v8 or Toyota v8
    Also putting the 1uzfe is essentially just Japanese ls swapping it

      @ConnerRhysuk  Місяць тому

      100% agree, as I said in the video I'm looking to use the 1UZ-FE, it's very do-able and should be a fairly easy swap, given I can get ahold of all the fabricated parts etc.

    Turbo it first, I have a feeling pushing 350-400 in this car will satisfy your power goals At least for a while. I went with the jdl kit and it’s pretty impressive on only 7psi full e85. Catch supercharged Audi’s and stuff sleeping all the time

    Just buy a supercharger kit. You aren't gonna engine swap it let's be honest. My girlfriend drives a gt86 with the Cosworth supercharger kit that the previous owner installed himself. Supercharger kits for these cars are not expensive. I drive a 2008 440bhp 350z thats also supercharged and the kits for the gt86s are far cheaper to buy than the 350z ones. About 5-6 grand for the 86 kits, about 7-8 grand for the 350z kits. You will get about 300bhp on a supercharged 86. Engine swapping isnt going to be straight forward as bolting in and tuning a charger kit plus you don't need to forge them. Superchargers sound sick too. Also Everyone and their grans dog turbos these instead of going supercharger 😂

      @ConnerRhysuk  Місяць тому

      fair point. although I do have to argue what you said about me not doing it. because if I decide to, I'm going to lol. but I see your point, I know its not going to be as easy as bolt in and tune. I'm just trying to weigh up my options here. I want more power, but am not ready to sell the car yet. so idk whether to turbo, supercharge or engine swap just yet. this video is to put a feeler out there and get some advice. which I am getting. tbh I never really looked into the supercharger much. so ill look into it! thanks for your feedback!
