1972 Chrysler Imperial LaBaron
Вставка
- Опубліковано 27 чер 2018
- This is a great old classic. Original as you can be after 46 years. The current owner put in a new headliner, carpet and had the trunk and hood repainted. All power options work, and it runs great. You'll need a really big garage to house this one. For sale at Garrett Classics. call Dave at 214-213-7072 or Maris at 214-616-2317

When my uncle, Merle Ditzworth, (I swear, that was his name 👀 ) retired he bought a brand new 1972 (green with leather interior), Chrysler, Imperial LeBaron. It was one of the most beautiful, magnificently engineered automobiles that I ever had the pleasure to drive! Uncle Merle remembered how much I admired his Chrysler and when he passed away in 1988 he left the car to me, bless his heart. She still sits proudly in my garage with just 42-K-miles on the odometer. The massive and silky smooth 440-ci. still purrs like a kitten when tooling down the road or, roars like a lion when you kick it in the a**!
When and if you get ready to sell...😉
@@garysandiego Yes, and?
@@MrMenefrego1 I would like to bid for it. It sounds like a nice car. Always wanted one of these vintages.
@@garysandiego Can't say as I blame you, they are wonderful automobiles! However, I retired (with my beloved Chrysler) to The Netherlands. So, the shipping charges would end-up costing you more than the car itself.
@@MrMenefrego1 Oh fiddlesticks! I’m sure the Dutch are in awe as you cruise by. Enjoy your retirement!
I worked at a gas station in the 1980's. A customer had a black, 2-door 1972 Imperial. What a great car to drive. The 440 hauled that beast around pretty good, and I remember how good the brakes were. (Of course, my own car was a 1971 Nova without power brakes!)
My (ex)wife BEAT a GREAT '77 New Yorker Brougham to DEATH! This was her ONLY real "accomplishment"! It took MUCH "work", though!
DAMN THAT THING IS MAJESTIC JUST FLOATING DOWN THE STREET
I had a 1972 Imperial with four doors in the mid-1990s. The high school kids I taught loved that car.
I have my grandpas 72 imperial LeBaron. He won it in a card game in 1971. He got orders to Germany the following year and the car went with him.
Drove and worked on those cars years ago. With the 440’s tuned properly it was surprising how quick these were given their size. Not to mention it was like driving your living room sofa down the road on air ride suspension...
Nice car. I’ve never seen in this color. Just beautiful.
Mr357 M. That color was Tahitian Gold if I’m not mistaken.
@@garysandiegoone of the most beautiful Imperial I ever seen. I have a four doors , but the two doors are stunning.
My Dad had this model. It was like riding in a cloud.
I can't believe how clean this car is! Beautiful! Very stylish.
What a dream! Those have got to be among the largest flanks of all time for a coupe! ❤🎶
If you didn't catch it before sale the driver side engine mount is either ready to break or broken. Ive had 37 Imperials, from 1955 through 1975, and still have 5 1964-65-66 convert, Coupe, and 4 doors, my 72 coupe and 73 4 door were this color (as are my '57 Plymouth Belvedere convert and SportCoupe). The engine should not move that far, and causes the choke to hang up. Also the front torsion bars need to be cranked up to raise the front of the car 1 1/2 to 2 inches, it will not only match factory photos, but will handle much better (which will be very good indeed) I enjoyed the exhaust note, matches my engines, most people don't realize even with rumble outside, with windows up and a/c gently blowing, the interior is silent, plus lower restriction gets better mpg. Very nice Imperial. Check out Imperial vs Ferrari, or Ferrari vs Imperial (can't remember which) on YOU TUBE it's on one of my favorite roads I've covered many times in Imp's. HWY 70 in CA.
A beautiful land yacht! Thank you for the upload.
We owned one just like this one. We had to notch the framing in the garage and the wooden garage door before it would fit .
Ah the Chrysler C Body platform. So huge! This is a nice example of the top of the line with the 440 CID engine. I love the sound of the 3-speed Torqueflite auto trans!
Be aware that Imperials from '55 through at least '66, and maybe a few years additionally, were considered by the corporation as D-bodies --- not C-bodies.
The sound both the torqueflite, & let's not forget the CHRYSLERS starters. I loved it.
Art on wheels i love it.
Beautiful car! Nice condition.
Even Rolls Royces don't have such presence. Literally the king of the road.
Awesome, almost impossible to find a 2-door Imperial. This one had the optional bucket seats with leather👍 Somebody put the wrong air cleaner lid on it...
Yeah the two doors are most elegant and so much more rare to find. Gorgeous car.
Correct about the air cleaner, tnt meant twin-n-twin, so there should be dual snorkles.
Most buyers of the later Imperials always got a 4-door sedan or hardtop. They considered it an inconvenience to crawl over the seat.
My friends dad bought a new one that was maroon 2dr with a white vinyl top. It was enormous!
STUNNING !!!!
I had a black four door in the late nineties. I put headers and dual flow masters on it. My friends and I did a few other things , hotter ignition, some port matching, better carb. and a few other things I cant remember. We got that 5100 pound car to run a flat 15 second quarter mile. Not blazing fast but pretty good in my opinion for such a HUGE, heavy car.
Clean! The hideaway headlights makes the car super cool!
Very nice. I had a '70 Plymouth Fury as my first car, when it was a couple months shy of 30 years old. Did lots of work to it and it was always a pain. But how I loved that car, and the view over that beautiful hood as it went down the road!
One of the last of the great Land Yahts!
My parents had TWO of these old boat Chryslers. One a 1972 Brougham and the other a 1971 Custom. They were so smooth and you could actually get laid in the huge back seat and not touch the front seats during the act. Ha!
Beautiful! A rare Gem. I daily drive a 72 2dr Polara same color. Thanks for sharing.
Big 440 4-barrel V8 under the hood!
I miss my 73 LeBaron.
MY GOD!!! WHAT A BEAUTIFUL CAR, REALLY VERY BEAUTIFUL, EXCELLENT VIDEO YOUR CHANNEL DESERVED MY REGISTRATION.
My eldest Brother had a 74 in black with black vinyl top with a 400 and T-quad. Black leather interior fully optioned. The pillowed leather was so comfortable!
It was a joy to ride in and a masterful beauty! He wrapped it around a telephone poll!
What a shame to destroy a very nice ride! He walked away and thanks for that!
BEAUTIFUL CAR !!!! THIS ONE IS GORGEOUS !!!!!!
That is one beautiful rear end.
Beautiful!! It wouldn't have been that loud in 1972. Somebody changed the exhaust system. I had a 78 with a 440.
Thank you very much for the video very nice
Classic American is love, beauty, dignity, gentlemen Very nice beautiful
Cassettes are good enough. Love that smooth ride. Cruise away to Denver.
gorgeous the 72 had a great front end
Love the color
Amazing car, love that color!
Beautiful!
ROAD TRIP!!!!
Beautiful machine
What A Dream Car!
LOVE IT!
Never drove one of these. Sure would like to. Dad had a ‘73 Newport with a 400. Not the same experience though.
My favorite yank tank of the 1970s
BIG beautiful car which was made in the same year that I was born lol
these titans were the real muscle cars.
Love this car I wish Chrysler was make them again
Very nice car !!! I like it !
Get rid of that after-market CD player and reinstall the original 8track player. Otherwise, a very beautiful car.
The vinyl top is wrong. It should be gold according to the fender tag, but it´s black.
Yep ... I do agree that new radio sucks
Original or Retro ... keep the car classic you have a gem !! Luck out there
@@jtp585 Cool, easy fix.
Right, they could have installed the cd player hiddin in the glovebox.
Its his car so to anyone that says its wrong you are the one who is wrong
Beautiful car !
37 drive belts i counted
Aside the car, these dashboards were the best.
Beautiful car ❤ but without the original radio 😢
This car is increadable
BEAUTYFUL CAR
That thing is pristine.
Very nice !
Have the new owner check the brakes
Stunning automobile
Great color great car
Grat and beautiful car 🚗😍
That color wasnt all that popular for that year....it was known , I think as a 'Rusty Copper Brown'. This 2 dr Imperial is gorgeous....what a beautiful piece of machinery...!!!
Chrysler named engines. 440 TNT. 440 Magnum for Dodge, and 440 Super Commando for Plymouth. Awesome!
Cool car, especially in two door.
Holy men in black i love it!
Dad had a two-door. Gold with tan-gold interior. Was stupid fast for a big car! He screwed hardened studs in the tires for winter traction and could remove asphalt from the pavement at stoplights! Lol
Très belle automobile !
En parfaite condition !.
Merveilleux !
King of the Road
That's a tremendous and regal looking car, so much design, style and options. Those headlight covers and windows go up and down so fast! I was really impressed by everything except one thing. It really looks like they ran out of money when they designed that whole dash. It is so plain and boring compared to the rest of the car even with the woodgrain. The crash-pad and instruments and most of the rest of it pale compared to the seats, door trims and exterior features. Just my two cents.
Машина для человека!!! Браво!!!
FELICITACIONES
DREAM CAR
Sweet and luxury
I saw that car go by and says to myself,
""There goes Angelo.
He's a friend of. o u r s."
Lol @ the concealed headlights slamming shut.
"Wheres your lebaron freddy?"
Beautiful car! Need to raise the torsion bars
THank you , but it sold to a collector of these cars and he can do that. :)
Nice land yacht ⛵
I love the colors of cars of that period. Lots of olive greens, yellow ocres and golden browns. Perfect fit for cars like that. Unlike depressing black and boring gray of today. Ps. It's Le Baron (male) instead of La Baron (female) ;-)
I'd buy that.
Surprised Grandpa installed that "Ghetto Blaster" in the dash...he looks like a Sinatra guy.....
Had to find imperial coupes
I had a 85 cordoba white guts, midnight blue with t tops.
All of these The Lebaron The newport and the Gran fury were all such massive car's when it comes to your safety it was like being in a tank but unfortunately if you were involved in a wreck with ine it was like getting hit by a tank! I had a stepdad that swore by his. o'll never forget riding in it ti mexico it was like being in a motorhome the backseat was so huge you could lay down all the way in comfort. But DANG THESE THINGS SUCKED DOWN GAS!! THEY HAD TO WEIGH 3 TON'S OR BETTER!!
Just FYI its “LeBaron” NOT “LA” and originally IMPERIAL was a separate “Marque” not a Chrysler, although by 72 there may have been “Chrysler” badges on the Cars. Still a very AMERICAN Icon!
Another FYI, that is why it says IMPERIAL by Chrysler on the Rear Deck
Nice bathtub
@ :55-57, alternator sounds like it's full-fielded, lost one diode. TNT 440 should have dual inlet air cleaner.
Try driving with the windows up. Will be much quieter and show how it would sound on the highway better. My parents had a 71 Chrysler. We always drove with the windows up AC on.
Why are you driving with two feet. ?? Just curious
I'm wobbling 👍🏻😂🤣
I knew Imperial came w/440cid, but a TNT, AWESOME.
They didn't come with the TNT. Someone just put the pie pan on that one.
The air cleaners for the engines on Imperials should read "Golden Eagle" based on the catalog photos.
Fellas thanks for the correction, but, excuse ignorance, but, what does Twin n Twin mean( 440 TNT)?
@@enerrivers4392 The TNT designation on Chrysler brand car engines is the abbreviation for the actual name of what we all commonly refer to as Dynamite. In other words the 383s and 440s were powerful, like a blast of TNT or Dynamite. Plymouth had designations of Commando and Super Commando. Dodge engines were named Magnum. All of this is covered in videos on UA-cam and in books 📚, and in the catalogs of which as a Mopar Master, I have both.
@@enerrivers4392 Just as clarification TNT..... actual chemical makeup....
TriNitroTouluene , TNT. You can look up Alfred Nobel its inventor, you know Alfred Nobel as in the Nobel Prize or prizes. Get it. I will send you an invoice for the History/Chemistry lesson.
This car did not come with a TNT engine!
The driver is a brake rider. Car is great and probable gone. Calling tomorrow.
Yes it sold, and the driver is not "riding" the brake.
The one camera shot it appears that he was but later found that you are right, he's not doing it. A friend 's father use to do that and complained why his brakes never lasted very long. That was a really nice car.
It was probably cold my continental will run 40 mph when the engine is cold without touching the pedal
Wow!
Nice old death trap.
You drive with your foot on the brake.
Just a little!
is it possible to find a 2door with a couch in the fron instead of bucketseats?
It is possible, though the standard seats consisted of cloth and leather. A leather bench seat (obviously the back seat was also leather) was installed to 4dr LeBarons only and in the occasion that the client desired to have them.
@@jptecson5902 It's a seat, which is narrow and independently adjustable. In a car equipped with them can be a center console between them, but in the case of Imperials, there is a "buddy seat" that consists of a solidly installed center cushion and a movable arm rest, to which you can seat a sixth person.
treasure !!!
LeBaron
Très belle auto
Not a TNT engine. Someone just bought the air cleaner lid for one and stuck it on.
