I always apply a few layers of electrical tape to the end of the hose clamp to prevent people from cutting their hands on the hose clamp.

cut a PVC pipe that is smaller but would fit snugly, connect two ends of the leaked pipe on two ends of PVC pipe, wrap the connections with some good rubber for better hold and u r done..
