A fantastic video composed of creativity, innovation and pure talent of an artist.
Thank you much. Cape Town
So beautiful, Pamela. Thank you for your generosity in sharing with us all these tips. :))
Pamela I really love you painting xxxx
Your creative spirit guides were in high gear here, outstanding process and results! You’re lighting a fire for me I never thought possible! Txz jeanne
This is so true. Even when a cherished portion is covered over, the essence is still in the painting.
Interesting to watch you at the end seeking to pull back balance on the right of the painting as the large white curve just off centre was toppling the painting to the left. I enjoyed how you did this with just greater density in several simple lines that curved the eye to the right and strengthened the tonal balance on that side of the image. A strong use of dense black line which was directionally away from the central space toward the right and the more solid brown brought weight and rebalanced things. You added the brown oblong at the very end in the exact spot I was looking at and thinking something heavier needs to sit there ..
I like the fact that you make your own stencils.
I also like the earthy tones and colors in this one. This piece gets better and better the more you worked on it. I think this would also be an awesome design for a transfer onto fabric for clothing or for something for people to wear. A video that I like to show to my students that absolutely captures the idea of working without fear is the film made by Picasso - titled, The Mystery of Picasso. Your art experience and art history really becomes apparent to me when I spend time staring at your paintings. I love your stuff. Once again, thanks for sharing Pam ! ! !
Wow-Awesome comment. Thanks for visiting and for mentioning the Picasso video-I’ll have to look that up! Pam 😊
Pamela, thank you so much for making these videos and for sharing with us! I love to see how you approach new work and to listen to your reflections explaining your process! This is balsam for my soul and it ignites my creativity for sure =)
Thank you so much dear friend in Norway 🌹😊😉❤️
Pamela, you inspire me. I love the way you narrate your process. It is so helpful.
Thank you, Eveline! I really appreciate you letting me know :)!
My favorite so far
Hi Pamela-This piece is exciting and exudes your energy and talent. Your mind seems to be going a mile a minute thinking about all the different ways you want to express yourself. You are a fabulous artist. Thank you so much for sharing your insights and teaching me so many ways I can pull a painting together to make it a successful abstract.
Eileen -Thanks so much, but I am always humbled and the student every time I paint! Much appreciation for your comment 🌹😉😊
I thoroughly enjoyed this, have watched it over and over--inspirational and your narration is very therapeutic, too!
Many thanks, Denise!! :) Happy painting!
Beautiful work!! I really enjoy all your videos, you explain every step, every tool and material you choose... 💕💕
I am really enjoying your online course! Thank you so much for sharing HOW you do what you do!
I love watching you paint, it is really inspiring. The earthy colour mix is one of my favourite combinations.
This is so inspiring. I need to get some paper to play on so I don’t fall in love with a piece too early. You are so good at encouraging us to take risks!
Nice video! I love hearing you speak about your thinking and then executing process. Very helpful. I will come back and watch this again.
Many thanks!
!!!!!wow !!! Very , professional abstract painting , very good composition ..congratulation
Many thanks, Carter😊😉
Hi Pam. This might be among the more unusual messages you’ve received over the years, but here goes: Tho’ a lifelong art lover and maker (pottery, textiles, mosaics, jewelry, etc), I’m a 70+ yr old rookie at abstract and painting in general. I’ve long wanted to paint and am using Covid lockdown to get a UA-cam education. I live in a shoebox and work at my one all-purpose table with Ltd supplies. ILOVE your work and have watched, I think, all your videos. Two days ago, when watching this one (or one of the other two related to this, not sure), you announced the winner of some prize: a San Fran sculptor, I believe. He asked about incorporating words into abstracts. At that very moment, as I looked at your painting, with its graffiti-esque vibe, I was thinking about the same thing. Cuz I’m a socialist/activist, I want to incorporate some clear messaging in my paintings as I develop. I also love graffiti/urban grunge art. So, I got to work and did a small (24 x18”) canvas inspired by your piece, and scribbled in some words: grief, rage, resistance. ( Lets just say that it was an instructive experiment, but has given me a direction.) when I saved my painting to my google album, google showed me two similar (by its reckoning) paintings: one of them was yours, the one Of which I did a poor replica. Anyway, sorry for long message, but hope you’ll enjoy the story. Thanks for your incredible instruction and demos.
WOW! So much incredible depth....
Evan! You just made my day ❤️❤️

Kalen -Thanks so much VokeTab CEO-can’t wait to see you soon!!! ❤️❤️
Fascinating yet again!
I have been thru all your videos but I was wondering if you will ever be making a video of how to mount your work, that's on paper, onto boards?
Thanks for all your videos.
Lovely
Ruby -Many thanks 😊😊
So interesting and so beautiful in many of its stages. It would be impossible to know when it is complete.
Great video. Thank you! What is the benefit of using cold wax medium here versus something like impasto oil medium? Is it just to get a matte surface, or is it also about the working quality? Also, could you use these same techniques on stretched canvas?
Hi pamela, do you always wait till each later is dry before adding the next? Great tip glazig!!!!
Only if glazing-otherwise wet I to wet or semi dry is no problem 😊
Love your work so much. I wish you could come to tel-Aviv, lsrael ...
Hi Pamela. Another beautiful painting! Wow! May I ask you how long does it take for the paint and wax mixture to dry before you can go back into the work to begin another pass?
Hi Pam , thanks for another great video. I was just wondering how you done with cold wax on canvas and how this went when clueing it down on a board if so?
This is beautiful! Just wondering two things... The ratio of CWM to oil when glazing and also how you flatten the paper before mounting. I am having the same issue with Arches buckling. Thx!
Hi Susan, you just need to add enough cwm to the lil to get the transparency you want-since the glaze is very thin you should be fine. Regarding the buckling, I am literally working out the kinks on this one and will be sharing the next video in my new PDPc membership group Watch-Learn-Grow 😉
@@PamelaCaughey Thank you. I think I read something from Arches in the CWM book that you can soak the paper in water for 10 min., then lay it flat for 10 min. and then stretch it on a frame. They said it would then dry tight. I'll be looking forward to seeing how you do it in your next video. :)
Stunning! May I ask, how many hours have you spent on this piece?
I tell my students that each work in reality takes a lifetime to create, as it is a life lived which informs every mark, shape, value and texture. In addition to the actual time spent painting, there is mixing of paint, cleaning of palette, thinking of what is working and what isn't working, drying time, and of course there is still the mounting of the work and finishing. :)
Hei Pamela, I like very much your art !!!
I would like to ask you about what kind of papier do you use for painting like on this wideo.
Ewa
This is Arches Oil paper - here is the link: amzn.to/2G2pIA5 !! Best, Pam :)
@Amy Isler Gibson - thanks so much for answering Amy's question! Awesome! Here is the link of the paper I use :) amzn.to/2G2pIA5 You were exactly right - you mean you actually listen to my chattering?!! Haha ;)
@Amy Isler Gibson thank you Amy, unfortunately Amazon does not sell all its products to Poland.
Best wishes
@@PamelaCaughey Thanks
Thank you sharing process Pam! Your work is stunning and very inspiring! I'm working in acrylics and not using cold wax. What alternative would you suggest using for creating transparent glazes in acrylic that will allow more open working time? Thank you.
Wow.....how do you mount finished paper works?
c'est un livre !!!
Mounting? Process?
is very pleasing to the eye, has good composition but to me doesn't say anything.
That's the beauty of art; it is personal and will mean something, or nothing but beauty lies in the eye of the beholder, always. ;)
