I am planning on painting hair on a Gemma kit from Bountiful baby. The doll isn’t for anyone so I don’t have to worry about really screwing up someone’s baby, lol. Wish me luck.

You sure do make it look easy and do it quickly as well with a very realistic finishing look, my problem is im trying to paint a whole head applying very thin squiggly lines , one colour and one brush and its taking days! I couldn't hear anything you said sadly, need to attach a speaker, one thing I have found is when painting hair the paint does have to be a lot thicker than painting of dolls limbs and face. Can I also say thank you for replying to our questions, so many just don't bother.
Susan Ripley , sorry I kinda have a soft voice so hard to hear. First you want to lightly paint the hair pattered then as darker layers. I just came out with a tutorial book with give step by step directions. Sorry I was so late to reply on your message.

I use genesis heat set paints and mineral spirit. I usual use one color and darken it my using less mineral spirits

This looks like rooted hair. Amazing job. Did you share what paints you used and the brush. My airdry paints do not show up as well as this. Thank you for the video.

Would you mind telling us what size brush you used and what color you used for your blonde highlights? Thank you for making this video. It was published over a year and half ago and it is still so pertinent to reborn artists. Thank you again!
Lori's Reborns Thank You for watching. I use several size liners when painting. Size 1 and smaller 10/0 are nice sizes. Honestly it nice to experiment with what feels good to you so buy several sizes and even try cutting you own brushes..

Question: around minute 9:40, after you’ve applied the light pattern, when you add a darker color, have you baked the pattern first? Like do you bake between layers?
Hi Linda. It is a good idea to bake layers seperate, that way if you make a mistake you can wipe it off without messing up what you have already done before.
About a year ago I received a reborn baby as a going away gift from my neighbor. I was moving. She was fairly new at it but did a great job on my baby boy. I recently have become so fascinated with the babies since I took mine out of the box to display. I have watched several you tube videos. So I have some questions? Where do I get a finished baby? I see there are different types.... Please explain. Personally I like the silicone from looking at the video, but I'm not sure,becuz i haven't seen one close up. What are approx prices? I would love to do one myself someday, but I had cancer 3 times with in a 6 year span and radiation has left me disabled and part of that is the use of my hands which are in continual pain. I'm not ready yet. And then can I have them modeled after my grandkids? Thanks for your time Sherry Wallace

I'm not for sure about using pencils, I konw alot of people do, but don't know what they buy. I mix mineral spirts with my paint or paint thinner.

Snuggle Babies Nursery thank you. I use genesis heat set paint and bake when I need to. I have never had a problem with these paints bleeding
That's great. I found my first times doing eyebrows that the paint bled into the vinyl. Since then I put a layer of varnish or thinning medium and a bake before doing any hair painting to prevent that from happening. I haven't tried the color you mentioned but will give it a shot. So far I found my rooting better than hair painting. But you are doing a beautiful job! Congratulations!

Hello Sharon and thank you for watching. I am using a reddish brown but lost the label so not for sure the color. I put on around 3 layers and bake whenever I feel i need to. I paint for as long as i can without smearing the paint but when it gets to where I feel I will smear the paint, I bake.
