I was waiting for this ever since interbridge let me know he was coming. I could listen to this man forever. The way he talks with his heart is just something else.
I have gone from an inexplicable instantaneous dislike of Redmayne to abject adoration. He won me over by his performances and a handful of charming interviews. I consider that the mark of a consummate artist and stellar human being.
Hope all his fans watched a very young, adorable, Eddie in Pillars of the Earth. Great book, great performance, incredible cast. Some of the great British actors were in it.
Having performed the roll of the MC myself many times, and as an acting/musical theatre coach I was skeptical at first at the new production with Eddie, as I admit I'm married to the more darker German expressionist revival with Alan Cumming which is the version I have performed. But after seeing Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club in the new revival... I thought it was just brilliant! For those who haven't made it to NYC to the August Wilson theatre.. The experience is immersive, childlike surreal and disturbing. Sadly most Americans have never picked up a novel in their life or heard of Christopher Isherwood, or seen previous versions like the original with Jill Haworth and Joel Grey, the movie version with Liza/Joel or other revivals. The thoughtful symbolism and immersive experience are jar dropping. The painted eyes everywhere like of the voyeuristic symbolism .. like who is being watched? The actors? or the audience? The experience is so intimate. I love that you even enter through a side entrance through bizarre mazes of corridors and bars before you get to the actual stage/theatre. It is fab! What makes this version even more disturbing is its childlike fantasy. Eddie as a harlequin Pierrot Lunnaire M.C. and Sally performing "Dont' Tell Mama" in baby doll outfit makes the symbolism even more disturbing.. Childlike loss of innocence, in a depraved/grotesque nightmare. Eddie was fabulous. And also so sweet, humble and endearing to the fans. I just watched his interview with Jimmy Fallon and laughed when he was teaching Jimmy the choreo to Wilkommen .. and said "now tickle the balls" LOL. Yep where can one go to see a Broadway show and get their balls tickled. LOL. Most of my NYC Broadway friends which include members of the Alan Cumming revival cast ... all loved it. I agree and was so delighted Eddie was nominated for the Tony for this role. Well deserved. I also loved that when you walk into the theatre you are offered a German Schnapps LOL. You really do feel you stepped back to 1928 Weimar Berlin. The only thing missing were the ability to pick up a German blonde rent boy named Dieter before the show LOL.
I love him, he is adorable, amazing in his roles I wish I can watch him play in Cabaret but sadly, im from a different country :C. Im sure he did amazing
Cabaret was one of the first musicals I'd ever seen. My dance teacher was a cast member and I went to see it when I was 11 years old! and I was just hooked from that point on I got to be on stage!!! That's my new home!
I watched all of his interviews for the first two Fantastic Beasts movies and now I only watch his interviews, even if I can't watch the projects he's promoting, because he is so loveable in them :D
There’s no photography at all allowed in the theater.. idk why she would try to take a picture period, let alone with a main character during the show/ while he’s mid performance.. 😅Like girl.. you were told verbally at the start, it says it on the booking site and written again at the venue.. what part was confusing?
A show I was doing once had to start 20 minutes late because of alcohol. I've seen drunk people get kicked out. Definitely not a fan of alcohol in the theatre.
I'm super gay and a chick so believe me when i say...he is so pretty lmfao 😅 seriously tho hes so pretty im almost jealous lmfao 😂 if you have never seen hick with chloe montez and blake lively as well as this adorable dude i highly recommend it 😅 they might take away my gay card for this post but cmon now if he were a chick hed be a dime lmfao Quote from a real nun i feel applies: just because I'm on a diet doesn't mean i cant look at the menu 🤣
While we’re piling on weirdos clapping, not every performance deserves standing ovations, not every concert deserves an encore. Artists know when it’s been an exceptional night, and they aren’t looking for a participation trophy. Similarly, the audience knows intuitively when it’s been that good. They should launch to their feet without hesitation, the encore should be demanded universally without need for consideration. Stop planning for it by default, and let it happen naturally, if at all. Otherwise, accept an average performance as good enough. Enjoy yourselves, then GTFO and let the artists and crew call it a day.
@@canaisyoung3601 Studio 54 currently operates as a Broadway theater, with the most recent production being "Days of Wine and Roses". The nightclub shut down ages ago.
I have heard the downside to turning the theater into the club itself is poor audience behavior because of the liquor/more casual feel. Remember your manners!
No hate of Eddie, he is a great actor and has done so many wonderful roles. My main criticism with this revival of cabaret is by focusing on celebrity and spectacle alone the production not only misses the point of the original meaning of 'cabaret' as a piece, and actually goes on to prove the point the musical is warning of.
Honestly, it’s the only time I’ve seen the show with an audience that didn’t know the history and/or the show well. I loved hearing other people gasp at different moments and come to understand what was going on. I thought it was potentially more effective in that regard
I’m not impressed with his or the director’s decision to make him look like a clown. Cabernet in prewar Berlin wasn’t a circus it was a stylish decent into decadence and perversity. Yuking it up dilutes the message of this chilling play.
Many cabaret performers actually performed as clowns. Look up Karl Valentin, a very famous cabaret artist. But given that you strung together the words 'stylish de(S)cent', not sure you'll understand.
I find him so completely dashing and utterly charming.
I have the biggest crush on him. He's so stinking adorable
Esp in My Week With Marilyn.
Fr!!! Hes so cute, just as awkward as myself, so it comforts me to see him be himself.
Me too had hot dream abt him
I saw Cabaret last night and was in awe of the performers and the show. Eddie was absolutely amazing! I am looking forward to his next project.
I have kindof had a thing for him ever since I saw Les Miserables. Stole my heart.
Eddie seems like such a genuinely nice guy. Love him in Fantastic Beasts!
I got to see Eddie in Cabaret a couple of weeks ago and he was amazing!!!!!!!
I was waiting for this ever since interbridge let me know he was coming. I could listen to this man forever. The way he talks with his heart is just something else.
He looks fit and healthy, and profoundly ill at the same time.
That’s good, well-bred English 🏴 genes for you.
Its cause hes a Ginger
He’s English.
I've never heard someone described with such blistering accuracy. I wish to employ you to compose my epitaph.
Him and David Tenant. Skinny British guys.
I ❤ Eddie. So talented and genuine. Thank you for this conversation

I would absolutely love love love how it started as the disdain. I’m with you btw. He’s an ABSOLUTE CONSUMMATE.

I can understand Eddie’s daughter when she says his money number costume scares her! lol and says I can’t see you like that daddy! lol

I don’t blame them. I am also. He’s such a versatile actor!
I absolutely love Eddie Redmayne!
Eddie is amazing in the role. Monday night was 💥💥💥🍾
Must see it if you’re NY
He's likable. And talented.
He has a different kind of magic. I just can't put my finger on it but it's there. Very unique!! I send him good tidings.💖

I wish I could have seen Eddie Redmayne in Cabaret and Daniel Radcliffe in Merrily We Roll Along.
Please do a day drinking with Eddie!!!!
I didn’t realise that Eddie was such a likeable man. Probably because I haven’t seen him interviewed before.

So were we, Eddie
Raul Esparza & Jon Petersen were my 2 favorite Emcees 🖤🖤🖤🖤
It’s a crime that he didn’t mention how Eddie was also in Les Miserables
If my name was Redmayne and I had red hair I'd either have to change my name or dye my hair.
Go see him in Cabaret! It is incredible!
MARIUS!!! 😁😁
Im 42 and also terrified, but maybe not for the same reasons.
Honestly I’d be the same if I were Iris or Luke 😂

when i was a kid the caberet movie scared me, those pale blank faces freaked me out.

He sounds just like prince Harry….
Oh man, Cabaret was my favorite musical since I was maybe 8 to 10.
I hope he does posture exercises after every show lol
He looks like that older lady from Shark Tank...the one with the pixie cut blonde hair
Good suck up to your American audiences Eddie. You know the Brits audiences are the best really 😘

I saw him on te Tonys telecast, and I’m not surprised his kids are scared to death of him. It was damn creepy.
Why do l feel like the host kinda resembles Eddie? Its strange
