    So many good easter eggs too!
    -Summoning stone in elwynn
    -Blizzard logo at the v. beginning containing Arthas, Frostmourne & other(s)
    -Ironforge is *beautiful*
    -Khadgar riding his griffin into Stormwind flight path
    -Polymorph followed by "It only works on the simple minded, and it lasts for about a minute!"
    -Murloc
    -Harvest Golem in Westfall
    -the fight between lothar, khadgar and medivh/sargeras played out like a boss fight in the game (phases)
    -Khadgar 'dings' after defeating medivh (yellow glow after beating the fel corruption)
    -Most of the horde chieftains having cameos (Grom, Killrogg, Bladefist is whom I've spotted, and was that Drek'Thar getting captured with Garona and then dying?)
    -Rod of Atiesh is Medivhs staff
    -Moroes in Kharazan!
    -Boomstick named after The Highly Calibrated Boomstick in-game
    -Toby Kebbel who plays Durotan also played Antonidas
    and the wow loading screen music played in the end credits!
    fav movie of 2016, next up Assassins Creed!. #gamerlyfe

      Perhaps It would be too much, if Dalaran was located in the same zone (Hillsbrad Foothills) as Dunholde Keep, where Thrall is raised. It is around that place Thrall / Go'el was found in the end of the movie.

    I think the worst character was Orgrim. I really love Orgrim and I hate what they did to him in the movie.
    I the original story he was right hand of Blackhand and second in command of the Horde but he didn't trust Gul'dan and refused to drink the demon blood. Later, when Gul'dan was in a comma, he betrayed and killed Blackhand and took the mantle of Warchief of the Horde and conquered Stormwind, winning the first war. He was a hero for the Horde, he believed in honor, and he really cared for his people, unlike Gul'dan and Blackhand who only cared for power.
    But in the movie he was a traitor to Durotan and didn't do anything important. A complete waste of a great character.

      Whole Frostwolf clan on this side of the portal got slaughtered .. when humans arrive their corpes hangs in front of the camp. Orgrim let just Draka run away with little Goel, and in then end only he left.

    • @bobbytables464
      @bobbytables464 8 років тому +1

      I don't think they necessarily slaughtered all Frostwolves. Just the strongest warriors ("take the weak, kill the strong"), possibly the ones who went along with Durotan to the meeting in Blackrock pass.

    • @adernain
      @adernain 8 років тому +9

      Yes me too.. I don't think it will lead to the Alliance of londaeron

    • @Sixty-Nine1987
      @Sixty-Nine1987 8 років тому +41

      Dude, I'm full Alliance Paladin, and I'm fucking pissed that the city didn't burn as it should have!
      It's more fuel to the fire that they showed Stormwind as it was rebuilt, rather than show Stormwind as it was originally built with the flaws in the defense walls that the Horde gradually broke through, wall by sectional wall, finally leading up to the keep... -.-
      The current Stormwind set up is designed with the epic moat between two mountain ranges specifically for that reason... Never again will a huge army be able to "storm" Stormwind as it was originally done in lore... So for the movie to have shown it as it is now is just stupid because no Horde army will ever be able to penetrate that gate even with only half a legion of men defending it! It's too well designed from previous experiences... So if the Horde cannot burn Stormwind in movie lore, how the fuck does it make it past Elwind forest?! Bypassing Elwind entirely would just be stupid, as that would leave the Alliance with a "storm front" ;D from which to propel guerrilla warfare from as the Horde attempts to push northward towards Arathi via the Blackrock mountains and the Searing Gorge...
      It's just all around ridiculous!

    • @Cpt0bviouss

      As a horde player...go fuck yourself.

    • @Vhailor_Mithras
      @Vhailor_Mithras 8 років тому +18

      Ignore the horde bait, I agree with Alex here and I'm also an Alliance player. Stormwind burning was a result of the King dying. It was also rebuilt by heavy taxes from Lordaeron after the second war ended which in the end resulted in some pretty meef'd peasants and the eventual rise of the Defias.

      Zoroko "ignorant" Not sure you know the meaning of that word.
      The original lore is no more for a movie than what they did. It could have easily been used for the movie.
      The movie already skips a lot and the pacing is off.

    • @Greatot
      @Greatot 8 років тому +2

      Same

    • @morendie7260
      @morendie7260 8 років тому +7

      Too much? Not necessarily, they didn't have to include all the lore bits, they could have skipped them, as long as there EXISTENCE was still part of that universe. But instead they skipped over (As in didn't happen, not witness), and completely changed numerous important story points.
      Its not about a story too much for a movie, it was about what was CHANGED.

    Nobbel isn't Medivh still possessed by Sargeras in the movie? The scene where he says he can't remember what he's done and the form he takes makes it seem like it's sargeras taking over not just simple fel

    • @ButterBoyism
      @ButterBoyism 8 років тому +15

      Well the biggest hint was that khadgar tells lothar that they need to go kill a demon, and it really seem like khadgar removes the demon from medivh and not just some fel energy

      Medivh looked more like Kil'Jaeden to me. And yea, it was Garona that mentioned Guldan learned from a demon, so maybe they just cut out Sageras for Kil'Jaeden. From what I can tell, all the changes were to shorten/simplify the story line; otherwise, it'd be a six hour movie. Personally, I wouldn't complain.

    I'm actually curious, how they're going to make Orgrim the new Warchief of the Horde in the Sequel. 1. He's part of the Frostwolf Clan and not Blackrock, which already gives him a worse standing and he can't challenge Blackhand to Mak'Gora, since he's already dead.

    • @Whereareyouroam
      @Whereareyouroam 8 років тому +2

      He'll challange to Gul'dan since the Horde in the movie is his.

    • @joshyman221
      @joshyman221 8 років тому +4

      My guess is he'll remind the horde of Durotan's challenge in which Gul'Dan dishonoured the horde. With Garonas influence, the horde will turn on Gul'Dan and kill him. But I think Orgrim will die here. Hopefully the rest of the movie before this point builds up Thrall to succeed Ogrim with the weapon. And perhaps either he will be warchief.

    • @RunderKeks28
      @RunderKeks28 8 років тому +3

      Whereareyouroam goodsire That's an option. But if he kills Gul'Dan, he will never create the death knights though they play a major part in the Lich King story. Well, we don't know, but they'll probably handle it in some way.

    • @undead4500
      @undead4500 8 років тому +2

      pretty much in movie canon orgrim is too cowardly to challenge gul'dan ironically.
      the bravest moment he had was saying mean things to gul'dan but that about it.
      i don't think he'll be the warchief in sequel.

    thank you for the upload nobbel; by the way on top of what you have mentioned a major difference is that blackhand is killed by doomhammer, who in turn becomes warchief ; after the alliance is formed by lothar they raid blackrock mountain (horde main camp) . lothar is pushed into a fight against doomhammer and doomhammer actually kills lothar; it is strange that turalyon (lothar 2nd in command) is not mentioned in this movie, as turalyon finishes what lothar started and wins the battle / war..

    I'll be honest, some of the changes felt better in the movie so it's 50/50
    yet the one i love more was how Garona kills the king. the original is summed up as 'Mind control' murder but the movie had more feeling behind it. The king wasn't just sitting around and knowing the fate, he did something that even Garona didn't want to do...but it worked in the end.
    But that's me.

    Hey Nobbel, huge fan, any how can you please explain to me the Aoldi scene, wasn't he a male high elf? Shouldn't that have been aegwyn in that weird box in dalaran? I have many questions about this, being a female human I feel like that should have been medivh's mother

    • @Nobbel87
      @Nobbel87  8 років тому +8

      I wish I could, but details are vague. It's certain that the name of the being inside the box is Alodi, Alodi being the name of the first guardian in the main universe. The rest...up for interpretation. I have no idea why Alodi decided to go into a box, perhaps it was a reflection for the source of the guardian's power? Could explain the scars of fel magic in her eyes considering that a guardian before Medivh did some massive resource on the fel. Like I said, it's been kept vague.

    I feel that rather than trying to squeeze so much lore into the space of a few hours for each movie, it would have been better to make a warcraft episodic series, possibly with each season devoted to each of the three wars, allowing enough time to provide exposition and character development.

    hey Nobbel, to me it seemed like they didnt really changed the lore of medivh having Sergaras spirit inside of him. When Medivh fights Lothar and Khadgar he turned into a demon and I feel like the woman that tells Khadgar about medievh is actually Medivh mother...also do you think Stormwind will not fall now seeing as they didnt do much to introduce Lordaeron and how they changed the death of the king

    • @Harukoon92
      @Harukoon92 8 років тому +3

      His mother wasn't too directly responsible for his downfall. She seeks council of King Llane and informs him, not Lothar or Khadgar, of his betrayal. Garona who has a "relationship" with Medivh also helps Lothar and Khadgar take him down. In addition, Medivh purposely surrounded himself with people that could/would stop him. While, yes, it's relatively the same, the stark difference dampens the story (for me anyway.). Especially since Garona is such a dynamic character that gains so much throughout that story arc, (love interest(s), family, etc) only to lose it all in the end because of Gul'dan and his dealings.

    • @MrAsmil
      @MrAsmil 8 років тому +2

      yeah I was disappointed, the actual fight against against medivh, khadgar rapidly aging... garona her significant other trying to kill him and Lothar his friend overcoming the pain of being burned alive just to deal the killing blow... dumbed down to a silly typical and unispired drop something on the bad guy straight out of loony toones scene...

    Well, for me movie sucked ass. Because they potentially killed 2 strongest lore storylines: Arthas and Thrall. We wouldn't see scourge as Ner'Zhul wasn't punished by Kil'Jedan and became the Lich King, so no threat for Lordaeron and no one to fuck up Arthas. And Thrall never becomes warchief as Blackhand is dead and it is very unlikely for Ogrim to kill Gul'Dan and become Warchief, also no frostwolves left so no one will teach Thrall shamanism. Well, I was disappointed with lore changes. Also one lore change that made me mad: Khadgar not getting old. Him getting old was a way to show how powerful Khadgar was, as he managed to purge himself from fel with arcane magic and looking old is an effect of this.

    • @itachi60001
      @itachi60001 8 років тому +11

      everything ended with almost the same result so ofc theyll manage to bring arthas as the lich king, and with the same logic thrall will become warchief and a shaman too. Remember this movie just showed the same results but not the same ways of how it happened in the actual lore, i personally liked, but thats another story xD

    • @joshyman221
      @joshyman221 8 років тому

      They can still do all this stuff... Just as they did with this movie, they just make it easier for the audience to digest. They will probably just make frostmourne the cause of the scourge. And orgrim will have a great role in the influence of Thrall. I think that Thrall will discover his shamanistic roots by being connected to the doomhammer. If you notice the weapon wasn't given the spotlight it deserves. Maybe it is being saved for the moment thrall picks it up and 'awakens' it.

    I would like to say that the lore of Warcraft is a perfect mirror of our own history. Tales are retold, details change, but the heart of the message stays the same. If the loremasters of the game take a moment and look at it from this perspective perhaps they will see the essence of story is sometimes more important than the details.

    While it saddens me a bit that the movie is so different from the game-lore, I understand why they did it. If they were to follow the original lore it would just take too long and would've fit in a movie (sort of like movies based on books, it would be awesome if they could keep everything but a book is simply too long to fit in a movie) That said, I actually liked the movie, seeing in-game places and stuff on the big screen was so cool!

So Blizzard has invited incredible amounts of ignorant players now to WoW to no fault of their own because they will start playing through WoD content and then be told that that is not how it originally played out either. The biggest change to me was :
    In the movie they described Stormwind as the largest human kingdom that has helped all the others. Where in actual lore, Stormwind was the smallest and so far south that all other nations ignored their sister city. When Stormwind called for aid against the Horde, the rest of the Human nations ignored the plea.
    Also there was no "alliance" with dwarves or elves until after Stormwind is long destroyed. Only reason the elves joined the war effort at all was because Lothar is a descendant of the Arathi Bloodline. Dwarves and Gnomes did not come to the aid until unified Alliance broke the Horde siege of Iron Forge near the end of the 2nd War.

    Personally, I can think of a really good explanation of the changes between game and movie lore. The alternative timelines, explained on many occasions by bronze dragons both in novels (Twilight of the Aspects is most detailed concerning this specific issue) and in the game itself (Caverns of Time and, for sure, entire WoD expansion). Actually, I think now that it may be another reason, WoD was ever created (most of us agree it's a crappy expansion)... so that the idea of multiple timelines was fresh in fans' minds upon the movie's release, thus making all the lore changes more tollerable. And, as such, it is totally fine to have two different stories in game and on the big screen, as from the beginning they would be two alternative timelines. I'd even be happy if in some of the sequels, a bronze dragon (hands up for Chromie!) appeared and specifically confirmed it. It would be a really nice easter egg from Blizzard towards the players. Nicer even than murloc and polymorph, I think.

    I liked the movie's story better. Like it that Garrona didn't have magic put on her to force her to do it and instead it was the king knowing that they were doomed if she did not kill him and work to bring peace to the orcs and humans from a high power position for the orcs. Just like it with the idea that it was their choice because they can have people passionate on the human side saying that wasn't a good choice if they even believe her. Also from the movie I can see them adding parts from the actual story line like Madiev having the spirt of sargares corrupt him. They may just not have known that it was a demon and figure it's easier to blame the fel magic for the people in the story trying to find a explanation. Going to use another comment for what I wish changed

    The whole time I was in the movie, I was thinking "When are they going to explain what other half is Garona? Will she hook up with Medivh in the next movie?" The fact he is her father is kind of an important thing to cut out... I hope we get a director's cut with all the content that was removed!

    Hey Nobbel!
    I'm a long time viewer & a 1st time commenter.
    SPOILER WARNING!!!
    I really enjoyed the movie & I even enjoyed the changes from the lore (although I would have loved to see Orgrim smash Blackhand's skull with Doomhammer & claim mantle of Warchief, but i digress). The one change that really got to me was the death of King Llane. Llane hoped to take a chance at peace by having Garona kill him & gain her honor among the Horde, but in doing so, survivors (i.e. Lothar) were able to tell the Alliance that Llane was betrayed by Garona & further intensify the hatred towards the Horde.
    I have long thought that the story of Warcraft is like a commentary on our world. We are different nations separated by culture, borders, and sometimes distrust. Sometimes we can come together to take on dangerous threats, but there are many things that further divide us.
    There have been plenty of examples of this in the Warcraft lore. Take the events at Wrath Gate: Horde & Alliance came together to take on the Lich King but a splinter group w/in the Forsaken killed Alliance & Horde alike. This event further increased the distrust between the 2 factions throughout the Northrend campaign & beyond.
    I loved how they were able to show that in the movie. In the hope of things getting better, they tend to get worse. The Warcraft story is kind of like a tragedy, but with just enough hope that the universe is not destroyed or devoid of good people.
    What are your thoughts on this? Did you like this change?
    Also if any other commenter pointed this out, I apologize. I did not read all the comments.

    Haven't found this anywhere, any explanation how Thrall was floating in the river from Swamp Of Sorrows to Hillsbrad Foothills?

    my own personal nitpicky lore change was that khadgar refers to dalaran as the "floating city," but in game lore dalaran wasn't lifted into the air until after the third war

    Nobbel, can you please explain Alodi in the movie adaptation? There isn't that much of information in the movie about her! Cheers from Sweden!

    Hey, in which WoW's expansion was all this story about creating the horde, Gul'dan, Ner'Zhull and opening the portal? If I remember well, WoW starts 30 or 40 years after those happen.

    why is dalaran in the air? my understanding is it was on the ground just south of lordaeron where there is a crater. and after the attack from archimonde they made a magic bubble and later when malygos was moveing the laylines dalaran went to the sky to bring an end to the blue dragon aspect in northrend.

    Here's a big flaw I found in the movie:
    When they are defending the portal to let the humans get through, the orcs go behind the portal and start banging at it in frustration of not being able to get to them. Well in the game you can go in the back of the portal so that is just a huge flaw that really ruined the story for me so much.

      I doubt the Orcs could have ran through the front of the portal either, it was probably being protected by Medivh during his chanting of the portal.

    The fan service appearances of Grommash Hellscream and Kargath Bladefist where changes to the lore, as both of there clans where left behind on Draenor and didn't saw action until the end of the second war.
    So I really fan girled when I saw the both of them ^^

    I think the reason for the difference is they wanted to keep the burning legion much more in the unseen background so that in future movies there can be a better reveal, and also the story seems to be more "orcs vs humans".
