I find funny the "hack" to clean hats and clothes in general. I've been doing that forever cause I mostly wash stuff by hand, even after I got a washer-dryer a few years ago. Put a bucket with hand laundry powder and water, leave it for a few hours, rise and scrub a bit whatever residue is left, then air dry.
You can just use hot water and white vinegar to strip your laundry in the same way. And I haven't noticed it messing with the colors of anything. Water and vinegar is also a great window/glass cleaner! No streaks, and it's so simple.

Best thing to clean glass is newspaper. I'm a military vet, who cleaned alot of windows, and I can tell ya...Windex or any window cleaner and balled up black/white print newspaper as your sponge. Then more newspaper to buff out the streaks. Works on mirrors too.
For cleaning doorframe grooves I've used a wet barbecue brush before (the stiff kind for cleaning the grill) to scrub, and some dish soap and hot water to wipe up the dirt after. I imagine any stiff brush would do, but the BBQ ones have a nice curve to the handle that make it a bit confier for your arms.
So the best way to wash hats!!!! Step one soak hate in same solution The wash out after soaking. For drying starch and place over a well fitting pot (yes from your kitchen). Let air dry slowly for best results. Spray the starch inside and out of the hat. How to tell if the pot is well fitting. Keep the adjustment right where it needs to be. Look for a snug fitting pot when they hat is placed on top of it brim towards the handle. I appreciate the video, thank you keep up the good work.
I used to clean the labs that process donated umbilical cord blood and we used rubbing alcohol to clean the glass and mirrors there. It gave a streak free clean and also prevented fogging... As a side note, rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle can also help with cleaning your windshield in the winter months. Just spray them down really well and come back a few minutes later and you're good to go. (For thicker ice it helps if you score the ice with a scraper first, then spray generously, come back a few minutes later and you'll be amazed by how easy it is to scrape the ice from your windshield)
The best way to wash ball caps is just put them in the dishwasher. When the dishwasher is done I place the cap on a large coffee container to dry. I have been doing this for years and have never had any problems. You can also buy a cap cage and it's made for using the dishwasher on the top rack. Quick and easy. Hope this helps.
I have cleaned for a living and found rubbing alcohol and a microfiber cloth works really well on any glass and mirrors. For door and window sills I vacuum them first to get the loose gunk first and then use a pad called Scrub Daddies first dry then wet. These work best for me.
There is an actual cheap piece of plastic that you can put a cap in to even use in the dishwasher and use to let dry so it hold it's shape. On another note, if you mix borax and vinegar it creates a chemical reaction that gets very warm and turns into cement very quickly 😄

The brush with the scoop is actually a tiny broom and dustpan. It's not expected to scrub with the brush.Try using newspaper to dry your windows. No streaks. Once you get all of the water stains off of your shower doors, use some RainX and there will be no more water stains. :)
A plastic hat form (it looks like a plastic cage shaped like a large ball cap) will keep its shape in the washer, then you just air dry while it's still in the form. You can look them up by searching for a "hat washer".
cramp newspaper softly into a ball. spray water on the glass and use the ball to scrub. finally use a dry soft cloth (old n clean t-shirts will do) to dry it off. cheapest and most effective way of cleaning glasses.

I used to clean houses for a cleaning company, I accidentally sprayed a mirror with the furniture polish and it worked better than the glass cleaner, literally no streaks, so ever since then I've been doing it that way, definitely not as much as I sprayed the first time by accident, but just the tiniest amount works so well, like furniture polish for wood(pledge original wood cleaner)
for the mirror hack you can also just crumple up some newspaper and use it as the towel and it does the same thing as the microfiber towel does! i promise it works my whole family has been doing it this way for literally ever !

My husband sweats a fricken lot, and he mostly get salt stains in his hats (white residue that show when the hat is dry), and I have washed them tons. What I have discovered is that a new hat will shed a lot of colour compared to an older hat. The brown in the water will mostly be the colour from the hat fabric, and not necessarily the sweat and grime. I find if I do a dip wash in mild soapy water, I get the same result as you did in your bathtub water. Then I rinse and let them air dry out of the sun. I’m not sure if they have changed how they make hats or not but my husband had cleaned the garage out and I found two hats out there that he was gonna throw away and I thought why not throw it in my newer washing machine on hand wash, they came out brand new looking no damage whatsoever. I was thoroughly impressed. I figured we were going to toss them anyway so why not try.
I was my husbands hats in the washer also never have any issues, I wash in delicate, air dry and they are good to go 👍🏼
@@melanie5242 See either washing machines have gotten a lot gentler or they are making the hats different but I know 20 years ago I washed my husbands hats and ruined a whole bunch of them but now they’re fine. I’m so glad someone else can confirm the results I got.
@@mommashawna707 Maybe the difference is that most modern washing machines don’t have agitators?
@@julietcook1068 That very well could be.
Use newspaper and vinegar for streakless windows. To keep mirrors from fogging up wipe with pure rubbing alcohol. Works on windshields too. I do this to my glasses as well.
Use a magic eraser on all the glass in the shower, it makes an amazing difference! But after the magic eraser you do need to clean it again with windex or the glass cloths. (Professional house cleaner here🙋🏼♀️)
I don’t know what happening to you, but I really miss you 🙏🏼
I've always used newspaper to clean windows. It's THE BEST way to clean mirrors and windows without leaving streaks and/or lint.
Hey!! If you spray windshield washer fluid on the shower glass. Put some in a spray bottle half water half washer fluid and just let it dry it helps the water beads repel off the glass and help hard water stains
You can actually wash the hats in the washing machine….spray some SHOUT cleaner on all the dirty places…….but….let them air dry. I put my sons on a big ice tea pitcher to let them dry. They always looks great! ❤️😊❤️
I bought a huge tub of Quick n Bright years ago & still have some left. It’s supposedly got a zillion crazy cleaning uses, but I found it works like absolute non-chemically magic on my shower glass & no gloves needed. Just glob it on & smear it around with a sponge, then rinse. (We also use a squeegee after showering) & Taaaa daaaaaa!!! Sooo sparkly clean and zero chemical smells!
I love the cleaning videos. I'm working hard on executive function and this helps get me in the mood and motivated to do some cleaning! I'm not to the point of deep cleaning, but it feels good to pick up and clean up my environment. Thanks, Rach
Best thing to clean glass is newspaper. I'm a military vet, who cleaned alot of windows, and I can tell ya...Windex or any window cleaner and balled up black/white print newspaper as your sponge. Then more newspaper to buff out the streaks. Works on mirrors too.
I just bought sunscreen from Native last night bc we are heading to Hawaii and I read that Native's sunscreen is reef safe, which is super important.
I love your cleaning videos Rachel!! 💜
I'm glad the dishwasher detergent didn't scratch your glass that stuff is potent!
Hey Rach, wash your ball caps & sun hats in the dishwasher on the top rack. No warping & they come out clean & fresh.
To actually get water stains off of glass: Get aquarium ph cleaners!
That’s happened when I air dried my sneakers outside. Someone said it’s from the chemical reaction between the enzymes and the sun.
for water spots i use bar keepers friend and a scrub daddy sponge. works really well.
So the best way to wash hats!!!!
Step one soak hate in same solution
The wash out after soaking.
I usually use old newspapers to clean any glass or window. Wipe with damp cloth first, then use dry newspaper to dry and polish it. Works every time..
I tried the dishwasher tab in the jacuzzi tub with jets the other day! It actually seemed to work pretty well!
You can clean hats in the dishwasher on top rack. That is how my family has always done it
The best way to wash ball caps is just put them in the dishwasher. When the dishwasher is done I place the cap on a large coffee container to dry. I have been doing this for years and have never had any problems. You can also buy a cap cage and it's made for using the dishwasher on the top rack. Quick and easy. Hope this helps.
For water stains on glass ive seen PH down (used for fish ponds) work REALLY well. Leaves it super clean and sparkly.
For cleaning crevices my mom always used old toothbrushes! They work really well and it's a good recycle
I just use Rain X on my shower walls to prevent water spots. Works awesome!!! Lasts a couple weeks.
Always find it useful spending time watching your videos 😊🤗
I have cleaned for a living and found rubbing alcohol and a microfiber cloth works really well on any glass and mirrors. For door and window sills I vacuum them first to get the loose gunk first and then use a pad called Scrub Daddies first dry then wet. These work best for me.
There is an actual cheap piece of plastic that you can put a cap in to even use in the dishwasher and use to let dry so it hold it's shape. On another note, if you mix borax and vinegar it creates a chemical reaction that gets very warm and turns into cement very quickly 😄
Miss you guys!
Use Swedish dishcloth sponge thingies on mirrors and glass for streak free, lint free. Or waffle weave towels.
I absolutely love these hack testing videos (even if I’ll never use them)
Missing her videos and it’s only been what? 2 weeks?
I don’t know why she’s absent but I hope everyone is ok and that she’ll be back whenever she’s ready 💕
Now that you said chipmunk for that door sill cleaner tool, I can't unsee it. Chipmunk cleaner ftw! Love you, your videos make me laugh every time!
For the glass in the shower...rainx. that is what our cleaning lady uses and it is great.
I use a newpaper sheet to clean mirrors and windows it works wonderfully it doesn't leave any strike, with the appropriate product of course
You should try it !
I found that for the water stains in the shower, a 1:1 solution of water and clear rinse agent (from the dishwasher) will work well with a bit of elbow grease (aka scrubbing).
Doesn't vanilla extract evaporate pretty much instantly when its added to boiling? Its alcohol. When I make hard candy you have to add the flavoring at the very end right before you pour it BC it evaporates so fast.
Good point. I think an actual vanilla bean would work
@@valentinalogan8443 That's what I was thinking. Or vanilla bean paste since it doesn't have alcohol.
Use a wet dryer sheet to clean your shower glass! Much better as a cleaner and it helps prevent hard water spots and soap scum from coming back
I used to clean houses for a cleaning company, I accidentally sprayed a mirror with the furniture polish and it worked better than the glass cleaner, literally no streaks, so ever since then I've been doing it that way, definitely not as much as I sprayed the first time by accident, but just the tiniest amount works so well, like furniture polish for wood(pledge original wood cleaner)
for the mirror hack you can also just crumple up some newspaper and use it as the towel and it does the same thing as the microfiber towel does! i promise it works my whole family has been doing it this way for literally ever !
plus u can use old news paper for something before you just throw it away!
I use Zep foaming glass cleaner from Canadian Tire for water stains on glass, and then spread/ scrub in with cleaning cloth that’s textured kinda like a Lysol wipe and it works really well and is pretty low effort
Ooh nice combo to put in my essential oil diffuser!
Cleaning videos on while I clean my home yes please! Love watching you test hacks so I don’t have to.
They also make hat molds you can stick them in and wash in the dishwasher
I use e cloths for my glass. Scrub with textured cloth then polish with the flat cloth.
I'm a Scandinavian in Australia, so mostly I grew up and lived in the same type of climate as you, Rachel, but living in really warm Australia is tons different.
My husband decided to wash his most beloved hat in the washing machine one day, aaaand do not ask me why, because I am constantly offering to wash it for him... It's not hard at all. It's mostly dip dip dip soak in mild soapy water, then rinse and then drip dry in the shade. Anyhouse, he ruined his hat in the washing machine, so don't do that *laughing smiley emoji that I can't find on this keyboard*
