I remember sitting behind Alice Clevenger (then Render) in the I.U. Philharmonic when I first arrived there in the fall of 1982 to begin my masters in trumpet. Our first concert of the semester was Bruckner 9th, and I was literally blown away by her first entrance in rehearsal! What a sound she had!

久しぶりのガブリエルの饗宴ですね！昔、シカゴ、クリーブランド、フィラデルフィアの首席の金管奏者の人達を集めてガブリエルの曲を演奏したレコードがありました。確か、シカゴのオケのチューバ奏者は大学の教授も勤めていたと思ってました。クリーブランドのオケが日本に来た時に聞いたのですが、なんと柔らかいグッドサウンドでした。
