I confess that I had no idea a brass ensemble could make music of such a sublime quality - my ignorance entirely of course. And I have only recently discovered the composer and every new piece surprises and delights. After 60 years of listening still so much to discover.
Yesss, i play saxophone and astor piazzola is sublime, unbeliveble
Astor Piazzola is pretty unique. He took some things from the Tango we had here in Argentina at that time and he made something unique. His style and aproach to the bandoneon instrument and his interpretation of Tango is one of a kind, a musician that stands alone in the unique music genre he created.
If you are discovering the brass ensemble world, I would suggest you take a listen to the german brass :)
Welcome to an amazing world of professionalism and joy. These amazing musicians have worked as hard as any player in a string Quartet, and cover a gammet of styles that is quite appealing and extremely challenging.
Please continue to enjoy!
@peterdcox This is the beauty of music!
I love how the woman in the background at 2:41 tells the man next to her to stop shaking his leg!
honest to god, it looks like the people behind the ensemble had something bad for dinner - not a happy looking crowd. I love how Martin Schippers plays, and how Verhelst (in this case) arranges.
Haha! I hope that's her husband.
wow outstanding observation right there lol
True. This is MUSIC. You should listen and show respect!
@@leoarrabi8927 I disagree. If you are enjoy the music, especially Piazzolla, you are allowed to move your whole body if you feel like. That’s what it’s all about. Even musician are movin while playin
3:53 If you weren't watching, you almost wouldn't be able to tell that was circular breathing. Amazing
isn't he great??
I read the comment just in time to notice haha
You're right. I wasn't watching and I had to rewind to confirm. Amazing.
I read the comment just a bit too late to not notice xddd
i know right. that is amazing
Well the audience look awake and happy.
Probably the best option to reproduce the music of Astor piazzolla through the immense talent of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra with an instrumental color perfectly adapted to that argentinian repertoire. Refined, precise and just beautiful!
BRAVO! IST DAS EIN UMWERFENDES ENSEMBLE!!!
Love the tone colour of Martin's playing!
Smooth tone with so much air. Best way to play on trombone! I love it!
It's one of those outstanding performances that either makes you want to immediately go practice, or quit playing altogether. Just a ridiculous sound from everyone involved; may as well just leave it on repeat for the day I suppose.
It really is deMeij! worlds-top!
Yep, and that is the reason after practicing 6 hrs a day for yrs on end I finally saw the light and realized I was simply treading water. No mater what any one says, I believe music is a gift and no amount of practice can make a person into a master. Sorry, but I wasted all my younger years trying to prove otherwise.
@@monkeyman41333 sounds like you're a little bitch.
@@MrKuso101 chill out bro, he's not a bitch
@@monkeyman41333 you have to practice with a purpose playing a lot of exercises and fundamentals without any purpose on what you need to fix, improve and what you want is useless
Amazing composition. I was unfamiliar with this composer.
Fantastic musicianship of this brass ensemble.
What a performance guys, and also a really well done arrangement. A special mention for the trumpet player Omar Tomasoni!
Chi
I listen to this performance regularly, but what makes me upset sometimes is that the cameras don't even focus at the tuba player as they do with the other players.
Besides that, it's a outstanding performance. I love the movement "fuga y misterio"
I agree. Tuba players deserve more credit!
I agree. I found myself looking for the focus on an essential aspect of the performance.
The tuba player is the most maligned of musicians. They're perpetually stigmatized as the fat kid in the back row. The bass is the foundation upon which is built the sound of the entire ensemble, and yet the tubist is always taken for granted. Cosmic injustice if you ask me...
just listen to music, you don't need to see music
That's because this tube player, Dave Kutz, is a bit shy person,,,,,,,
Wonderful in every way. With an ensemble like this, for me it’s the perfect intonation that really stands out.
And special mention to the Schippers brothers! Very unusual to have siblings seated next to each other in such a highly regarded orchestra, but you guys are really great!
at first i assumed the trumpetists are the brothers but then i read the video description., realized the trombonists are the brothers. but the trumpetists look very brotherly to me too..🤣
0:20 I love how the tuba and trumpets have ascending and decending lines
Omar and Miro have such an efficient expressive approach to the trumpet. Definitely something to aspire to.
From Argentina. Great version of our great composer, Astor Piazzolla.
Astor Piazzola nacio' en Nueva York, USA.
No se si estàs bromeando. Astor Piazzolla naciò en Mar del Plata, Argentina.
@@bobboscarato1313 Astor PiazzoLa tal vez haya nacido en New York...ahora Astor Pantaleón PiazzoLLa..NO.
best arrangement for brass ensemble on youtube

Nothing better than horn glisses
BEAUTIFUL!!! Really love this ensemble and wonderfull sounds played full with emotion. What an amazing composer Piazzolla was.
Brilliant playing by the whole ensemble.
Brothers Shippers🤘🏻😆
Great playing! Love the absolute outstanding Trombones!
This execution is simply amazing!
Every single musician in this formation is phenomenal.
Congratulations!
Perfection!!
Definitivamente unos genios!
Wow es ist sehr Argentinien. Bravo ich bin glücklich euch zu hören. Was für instrumentists. Danke aus Mexico
Semplicemente fantastici
Wow Vow Wow !!!!!! Fantastic
Qué bello sonido de todos. Gracias!!!...
6:50 The guy in the background is just digging this. And so am I.
O som do trombone nesse concerto ficou simplesmente fantastico .
Beautifully played. Not only great technique and musicianship, but playing really well together as an ensemble which takes a lot of listening by the musicians to each other. If you like Piazzolla's music played by brass, the Canadian Brass album "Magic Horn" has four different pieces. They include "Libertango" (which has been arranged for every sort of group from Symphony orchestras down to kazoos I think) and also "Oblivion" which has a stunning haunting melody. Piazzolla's instrument, by the way, was the bandoneon (a type of concertina). I think Piazzolla's work should be played more often than it is.
