I really want to try the Neo Zen. It’s near the top of my next purchases list. There’s too many shoes on that list right now, so this top 5 list could definitely change in the near rotation, but right now:
Adidas SL2, Adidas Evo SL, Hoka Mach X2, Hoka Skyward X, Qiaodan Plaid 1.5
Always have a difficult time picking between SL2 and Skyward X as my daily.
I like the long vids, but I admit I jumped on this
Neo Zen took me by surprise. Definitely the best Mizuno shoe yet.
Neo Zen is the chill guy meme of shoes.
It’s simultaneously a hype shoe, but also not a hype shoe
Thanks bro, good quick review
This review kinda sums up this channel - 1) honest and doesn’t buy into the hype (Evo SL, Pro 4); 2) puts real mileage into the shoes like the rest of us do.
Good review, congrats!
I love the Adios 9 for every kind of run, I even took it for a 30k long run because I liked it so much and ran a 44:19 10k pr yesterday. I like it better than the Takumi Sen 10; I can feel the rods on my forefoot on that thing (I use this up to 10k only, but it still hurts). The plateless, better fit, better foam, and better upper make the Adios 9 the perfect shoe for me. Also, I’m only 5’5 and 120 lbs, and my easy pace is around 5:30 min/km (8:52 min/mile).
My rotation:
Invincible 3
Deviate nitro 2
Endorphin speed 2, pro 2, pro 3
takumi sen 10
Adios 9
Sl2
361 flame 3
Size 15 really limits me. Can’t get the MagMax or the Neo Zen. Can’t get most of the adidas shoes. Can’t get the Mach 6. But I appreciate all your reviews. Love the Novablast.
Great video! My favorite 5 are Hoka Skyward X, Hoka Mach X2, Hoka Cielo X1, Brooks Ghost Max, and Puma DNE3. I need to try the Puma Magmax
The Magmax really impressed me on foot. What a great shoe. For such a big shoe it’s nimbler than I expected and very stable at the same time. I’d take it over the much improved Bondi 9 any day when my feet and legs are beat up. Shout out to the Nike Zoomfly 6. Massive improvement over the 5 and it’s so much fun to run in.
how do you compare magmax vs glycerin max?
@@Tegulatus I tried the glycerin max. It was certainly cushioned but it didn’t return much energy and felt like I had a couch strapped to each foot. I felt like I was plodding in it. Great shoe but just not for me. The Madmax felt livelier but still had tons of cushioning and a better rocker. Opinions vary but those are my thoughts.
Evo SL is my favorite daily trainer. Feels great from easy to tempo pace. Wasn’t a fan of the novablast 5, it felt a bit too mushy
The Bondi 9 is my favourite walking shoe at the moment.Took around 15 km’s to break in firmish with a softness and bounce.weighed my US size 12.5 at 369 grams
I really don’t like Adidas’ marketing strategy with the Evo SL, but, I’m really enjoying the shoe. It’s hit that goldie locks zone for me. I think I’m just a fan of that last gen LSP foam. I’m using it for tempo paces and it just performs really well.
Nice man I'm really hoping I get more from it. I loved the Boston 12 and Evo sl so fingers crossed it changes for me
9:42 I love the Magmax. It really is fun and supportive.
superblast 2, zoom fly 6, glycerin max, and alphafly 3 for me
Fav five for me right now, in no particular order:
TYR Valkyrie Speedworks
Topo Specter 2
Hoka Mach 6
Brooks Hyperion Elite 4 PB (recency bias, probably)
Mizuno Neo Zen
High praise for the Hyperion elite 4 PB! Looking forward to trying that one soon
How would compare the zen to the specter 2. Love specter 2. On my second pair
@ the Zen is so much softer and a little bouncier, but not nearly as performance oriented. Also, the lockdown in the Zen is crap (I probably should have sized down 1/2 size), but it’s comfortable. The Specter disappears on my foot and seems to respond well to a large wheelhouse of paces. I compare the two (as well as five other shoes) side by side on my on Neo Zen review from 3ish weeks ago.
My Favorite 5 right now: still the Mach X2 for workouts, SB2 for longruns, Novablast 5 for daily Miles. I did run in the rebel V4 aswell. But at 140 km, I still havnt got an "amazing" run in it. Going to keep it till after winter to see if warm weather makes it better. If not, byebye rebel :) And beginning to use the skyflow, not sure about that one yet.
Id like the Evo SL if it had a better tongue, like gusseted or something. Love the vids bro keep it up🙌🙌
Even here in Korea many people try Diadora Gara Carbon 2. I'm sure he already got it and it's on the waiting line.
Evo SL dunks are on the neo zen
What does it say that I guessed every shoe 😅
Also, you should review the Pegasus premium soon!! I’ve heard mixed reviews and am curious what you’d think about it
Alpha fly 3’s are my fav shoe, and I’m a big guy 225lbs, I have two pair of bondi 8’s and nimbus 26’s I have in my rotation, and I have a solid shoe rotation
Cielo x1 is great and i personly dont feel like its heavy
Excellent list! My current top 5 is pretty much the same. Loving the Neo Zen SO much more than the Neo Vista - it's just livelier and more fun in every way for me. Novablast 5 has been a super reliable daily trainer, so much so that I got my husband a pair as well (he's a new runner), and he says it's the most comfortable shoe he has 🙌
Also, will you be reviewing the Brooks Hyperion Elite 4 PB? Apparently Brooks is finally "in" the racing market with this one... 🫡
Yes Hyperion PB coming very soon! And I'm glad to hear you are spreading the hobby jogger love to the family 🙌🏽
this selection is a clear sign, that the running shoe market is not favoring my taste in shoes. Medium to low stack, rather firm, non plated with a wide toe box is very hard to find these days, but my feet are willing to run in anything looking similar to a running shoe and adapt to whatever comes along.
I am very grateful to my feet being so sturdy and dependable friends January 2025 512 kilometer, lifetime most distance i ran in a month 318 miles
Altra is still holding it down for you! The new Torin looks interesting with the updated foam
Torin 2.5 best Torin ever ....has a place in my glass vitrin
Is the Topo Cyclone 2 (Version 3 coming soon) too soft for you? I love mine. Up to 200 miles and still going strong.
@@lukepaulson3428 I have a Cyclone 2, and i was a little disappointed after the big hype. It is borderline too soft for me, and i almost prefer the Version 1, which was too firm for many runners
@@lukepaulson3428 I own a Cyclone i and a 2, the 1 is too firm and the 2 is borderline too soft for me
Would love to get your opinion on the Puma Fast RB!!
Which is more soft magnify 2 or magmax ?
Cruisin at 7:30 lol I have to try hard just to get one 8 minute mile
Yeah 7 minutes/mile is basically my 5k pr he’s so fast 🥲
DOR has been rating the Rival Fly pretty highly for a speed shoe. On sale at Nike right now; maybe check it out?
Is there a cardinal rule about washing shoes ? If not what mileage is okay to wash them ?
I wipe down my shoes whenever they're dirty but don't wash them in the machine - I know ppl do that though. Just feels aggressive to me 😂
@ thanks for the info. I live in west Texas lots of dust and dirt. I can throw them in washer give me an excuse to buy new shoes :-)
Wash them in the machine on a gentle cycle. Let them air dry. Easy McPeasy.
@ thank you for the reply.
? Not shoe related. What you think of the new stuff Larry June been dropping with 2 Chains and The Alchemist. I think that album is gonna be 🔥🔥🔥
so fire. he's been teasing that "i been" verse for a while so excited it dropped - can't wait for the album
Right now I'm using the SL2 the most(several prs)..Rebel V3..NB elite V3, Altra vanish carbon V2,Diadora carbon and frequenza..the hoka Cielo road could be the best of the rest if they would put the midsole of the rocket x2 under the upper..my list of shoes that don't work for me is much larger than the shoes that do work..most of them are too hot,too heavy, too hard and too much drop..hokas would be the best if they would stop making the uppers too hot..really don't understand why the 2 layer uppers..the same for all the brands..who wears out the fabrics of running shoes..the cushioning or the outsole is toast long before the upper..
Where are the old school firm foam shoes on version 135? :)
Top 5: Novablast 5 - Hoka Mach 6 - Adidas Evo SL - Puma Magmax - Puma DN3
Honorable mentions: Noosa Tri 16 - Adidas SL2 - Saucony Speed 4
Speed: Puma DNE 3 - Saucony Pro 4.
I am trying not to buy Neo Zen. Novablast 5 is plenty soft cushion and more.
I am thinking about selling my astronaut shoes Superblast.
Hi Yowana, I am Forefront/midsole striker with under pronation, 2E foot size. Looking to trail and buy one among these. What should be 3 top picks please ..
>Hoka Clifton 9
>Asics Gel Nimbus 26
>Hoka Mach6
>ASICS NovaBlast 5
>Saucony Endorphin speed 4
>Brooks Ghost Max
>Hoka Skyflow
>Mizuno Neo vista/Zen
>ASICS gel Kayona 31
Yo Bro, magmax or glizzie max for LSDs and recovery? And maybe for some pace. Also, how would you compare the vomero 17 & magmax for recovery/relax paces. Much appreciated! 🙏
Def the magmax - it has more range and is more enjoyable for me for going long
Watch and listen to your content most days and love the humour but Im just curious where your high praise for the New Balance 860 went ? I mean on running warehouse channel you said that was your best daily and now it isn't even in your top 5 ?
And as I watch your channel just about every day I think a bit of constructive criticism is that most viewers get it about your dislike about the Superblast but you don't have to keep mentioning it in every single video its now like a broken record , The Superblast works for a lot of runners who are slightly heavier and many people rate it , I have the original and version 2 but I will be giving the Mag Max a try for sure , and please don't take it the wrong way , But we get it , you don't like the Superblast but sorry it works for many people who probably watch your channel. I don't overuse mine as I have a heap of other ones in the rotation and I must admit when I tried the Novablast 5 on it seemed more bouncy than the Superblast.
I'll probably try the Novablast 5 if the Superblast 2 is out when I finally retire Superblast 1. I know it's not really exciting but it's such an effective job doer.
Andy (FOD Runner) said the Novablast has lost its bounce after 100 miles. He's a giant so it might take me 200-300.
Puma MagMax & Asics Novablast 5 in all White 🤤
Puma Magnify 2 is 80 dollars in Brazil right now. Have you tested that one? Does it even remotely resemble the Mag Max? I’m 75kgs and I don’t really dig the “too much shoe” trend. But I still need a long run shoe! Thanks a lot!
I haven't tried it but it keeps coming up! I will have to scoop a pair and check them out soon
@@supwell The obvious choice would be the Novablast 5, but Asics don't have most of their models in US10 here, because of the sizing equivalence, can you believe it? Go figure.
There are just too many choices right now, I'm a bit overwhelmed, lol.
I want to know about that plaid shirt!
It's j crew bro! Got it at j crew factory - also is low key the softest button down I own
Thoughts on Adizero SL2?
The BEST bang for your buck shoe still. Great versatile daily trainer.
You can run 4:50 pace for over 2 miles and you still run 8 min/miles in some of your workouts? How do you not get bored out of your mind?
Trusting in the system - the 7 minute/8 minute pace miles are necessary so that I can run that 4:50 otherwise. Without the endurance I wouldn't be able to hold that speed for very long at all
I can't decide between the Novablast 5 or the Glycerin Max.
Did you already do a Nike Pegasus Premium review? Very curious how those stack up vs. these
Si agrée with you! Magmax the King
Been watching your videos for awhile now but still cant decide which one I should buy. For those who are not runners, but wear running shoes to do everything daily (school, gym, stores, you name it), which shoes would you recommend? I have a pair of 1080v13 but I find it too soft for me, and the heel/toe drop is too low. I like the drop on Ultraboost 22 but UB22 is not cushion shoes. I'm about 190lb and I like max stacked shoes if that helps. Thank you.
I'm a walker only, love the Saucony Hurricane 24 and the Ghost Max 2. Take a look at Yowana's reviews of both, I think the latest review of the Ghost Max 2 is the most accurate for me on comfort. I only wear these 2 shoes. Tried the Bondi 9 and it wasn't as comfortable for me, a firmer shoe and I could feel the seams and structure of the shoes on my feet. My feet are very sensitive.
@@Chrysoss I thought something was wrong with my feet lol. I used to have a pair of Bondi 6 and had the exact issue like what you described. I will try the GM2, the SH24 seems to have good reviews but I just dont like their logo pattern on the shoes (looks like flower vine to me lol). Thanks for recommendation. Cheers.
what about Novablast 5 vs Magmax? If I had to pick one shoe for everyday easy runs/long runs?
is the sup well app on the apple store?
ever use the morev5? iirc you liked it, how come its not in the rotation
Liked it but magmax and glycerin max came along right after and took all the miles. I should do a revisit. It was one of charlis favorites though - she already wore out her pair
Where’s the Puma DNE3
If you had to pick between the endorphin pro 4, Evo Sl or vaporfly 3? For tempo/interval training
Evo SL is the best speed of durability and speed to me of all those for training. Endorphin pro 4 could be okay depending on your paces but the forefoot isn't as aggressive as I prefer for top end speed
What are your top 5 stability shoes?
Prob new balance 860v14, Saucony Tempus 2, Nike some structure 25 are top 3. Still need to test the Asics ones
I am 6’-3” 270 overpronator with Morton’s Neuroma and I tried several popular stability shoes and I chose the NB 860v14. I have not tried the Tempus 2. Thanks for the in-depth reviews!
HOKA Cielo X1, HOKA Tecton X3, On Cloudboom Strike, HOKA Mach X2, Puma Deviate Nitro Elite 3 for me….
How does the brooks glycerin max stack up against hoka and puma for you?
15:17 for 5k training and races, what do you guys like between the alphafly 3, vaporfly 3, streak fly, takumi sen 10?
Takumi sen for me
@@NickBoncellaoh god takumi 10 are such a failure of a shoe. the upper, the laces, the midsole, everything is wrong in that shoe. alphafly 3 for all distances!
@@Tegulatus worked for me and grabbed my 5k PR of 18:38
@@NickBoncella great time! funny how shoes fit differently for every person
Hi
I need some advice..
Can you recommend a shoe similair to glide ride max with a lower stack height?
novablast 4 would be the closest and most similar - same top layer of foam but lighter and lower stack height. new balance 1080v14 is another one - soft cushioned daily trainer but not as tall. and if you want something way lower and more streamlined new balance rebel v4
The max max stack zebra stripe mafia is jealous of its shoe label mate .
I’m actually not much of a runner, but I like to look for comfy shoes for everyday wear… so running channels helps me find them!
Thoughts on the Rebel V4, 1080 v14, FreshFoam More v5, or any other comfortable shoes?
The 1080 or the more v5 are good but a rebel or something similar might be a bit too aggressive for daily wear
I ran about 10miles in my SB2. My arch hurts like hell. But why though? Anyone knows
Finally shorter video😂
Bondi 9 warning. Returned mine. Worst shoe experience of my life.
Dang you've commented this on all my videos that mention Bondi 9 so it must have been truly awful 😂 I'm sorry you had to go through that 🙏🏽
The way he says bondi lmao
I agree with you on the Adios Pro 4. Only tried it once briefly at a Dick's Sporting Goods recently, but immediately it just felt like a downgrade from the Adios Pro 3
Bang
Not really interested in this video, but here to help with the ads! BANG!!!
👍
Gang gang
Can you stop saying “Badabumbadabam”. You are a full grown ass dad. Stop being childish.
You sound like you’d be a blast to hang out with at parties.

you commenting this on a youtube channel is even more childish
Word play is part of being a fun dad / person. I recommend it. Worth a try. For me this guy is a great one in the game of word play: ua-cam.com/video/d-diB65scQU/v-deo.html
