👋 Hey guys welcome back to my channel, In this video I share how I start my seeds inside for my spring garden. I use an organic seed starting soil, the one in this video is here: www.amazon.com/dp/B082QS8HBH/...
This year's spring garden, we are planting brussels, kale, cauliflower, broccoli, cabbiage, and herbs. As these guys grow I will be thinning them out, getting rid of the weaklings, transplanting as needed and once they are healthy plants, they will be planted in our organic market garden after our last frost. In addition to our vegetables and herbs, I also planted some flowers and milkweed! (those did not make this video) As you can see I do not use grow lamps.

Haven't started anything yet. But here in Illinois we've got some time. Was 15 with 2" of snow. Ha. Usually around may is when i transplant to the garden. Ill start my seeds here in a couple weeks. I've got my grow lights all ready and set up waiting. Also here since the cold i use a heat mat to germinate the seeds quickly. For me its almost therapy in a way. Hope all your plants do well.

Great video!! Is there a certain temperature that the soil needs to be? We were going to grow our plants from seeds this year but didn't know if we need to keep our freshly planted seeds in the house or if we can keep them outdoors in a mini greenhouse? Its pretty cold where we live in Oregon right now. Thanks.
HEY! 👋 Thanks for watching and great question! Yes, some of the packets tell you on the back, but mainly around 60-70 degrees, some less. We are in South Carolina, so it doesn't get too cold here, I've been wanting to put up a green house. I would think it would be hard to keep a green house warn enough without a heat source. Many northern gardeners I know, start their seeds inside their home. We keep our home around 70. Some gardeners use the heating pads, or even a space heater to heat the entire room. I hope that was helpful!
