Makes the car sing....does his own song....talks to the Miura's designer...gets to drive the alps...Best car channel by far on UA-cam.
in 15 minutes. What the hell.
I think this channel and jay Leno's garage..Both absolutely superb viewing for the genuine motoring enthusiast. No silly music, ego trips and or infantile gimmicks...just incredible content, impeccably delivered.
It’s good but try Harry’s garage.
stewart murray another one of my favs.
Agree 💯%
"You were only supposed to drive the car not sing the bloody song as well"
Why not ? Since Iain has a beautiful voice ! 😁
Hahahaha that's brilliant. What a voice on him though!
write the theme tune, sing the theme tune....
@@cianmurphy52 I can picture him sitting in that massive chair 🤣
I see what you did there 💣
RIP Monsieur Gandini. And thankyou Monsieurr Tyrell for keeping the spirit and energy of these automotive gods alive. They will never be replaced.
Thank you!
Iain Tyrell pulls off a video that he is uniquely positioned to create. Even DRIVETRIBE or TopGear with their much bigger resources would struggle to put together a video this special. Congratulations, Iain. I’m glad your talents are finding a wider audience.
This has inspired me. I'm going to drive my Vauxhall Corsa to Luton to meet Harold Skinner - the man who installed the washer nozzles on the production line.
Priceless ! Hahahahahahahahahaha
Excellent comment 😂😂
Fantastic, be careful aparanty it's a hot spot for C-19, how's the antique business going?
That made me laugh :)
Wonderful, sounds like the trip of a lifetime!
Driving that very same Miura along the very same roads as in the film is something. Meeting and having a personal chat with the Great Man Gandini is something else!! Such a humble and perfect Italian gentleman. You made my day Iain. Not a bad interpretation of the original song either... a man of many talents!
I second that.
Nearly twenty thousand views in five hours. Fantastic work Iain and much appreciation for you sharing these moments.
As many have already said, this latest dose has raised the bar a number of levels. Captivating viewing.
and hung like a horse according to his Tinder.
This isn’t telly, this is a historical document, excellent
It is great but no match for Davide Cironi's youtube interviews with Gandini, Dallara, Stanzani, etc.
I agree entirely. The design story is remarkably similar to that of the D Type: also knocked out in record time.
An Englishman and an Italian, both the top in their field, both cultured and sophisticated gentlemen, yet both so utterly humble. Beautiful to watch and kinda makes me proud to be European.
We're still European for a few more weeks . . .
@@simonc4810 Can you please clarify for me what you meant by "Talent like this goes to live elsewhere"? 🤔
@@theloneranger2101 no!
“Oh look, Harry is chatting to Gordon Murray this week”. Iain “ Hold my beer”.A master piece, Thank you.
If it wasn't for Harry, you would not be watching this video. I am grateful for both channels - and that Harry decided to have his Espada engine rebuild by the best of the best. Voila - a new youtuber for us to enjoy :)
@@EspenX Exactly, like everyone here, I've met Iain when Harry brought his car to be sorted out. Money's no object of course !
Can't wait to see Iain road test Harry's Espada !
Haha, yeah, what a crazy thing!.
@@EspenX That's true, but I enjoyed the remark of Jonathan none the less.
Glorious.
We’re extremely happy to be sponsoring Iain’s amazing channel! What an incredible video this was! If anyone is interested in selling a classic vehicle, please visit us!
I have a classic 2005 Ford Fiesta style 1.4l. How much will you give me?
Oh wow. Iain tuning carbs, Iain singing, the Alps, the Miura and then just to top it all off an interview with Sr Gandini. The stuff of dreams. Fantastic.
Wow! Wow! Wow !!! The Italian job location - The original Lamborghini Miura - Marcelo Ghandini. Ridiculous levels of cool. Life doesn't get any better.
It doesn't get any better than this! Wonderful.
Agreed, although it would have been even better if Iain had also fully restored the Miura that was dumped off the side of the mountain and into a ravine. :-)
Kolbjørn Halvorsen I think I’m right in saying the car that was dumped off the side of the mountain was just a shell 👍 I hope it was 🤔
@@moran68 You are correct. It was a car that had already been in an unrelated accident before the filming began, and the engine had been removed (which can be seen when the engine cover breaks off as the car tumbles down the ravine).
@@kolbjrnhalvorsen863 Thank you Monsieur for the info. I feel relieved now ! Ouf !
That just sums it up, Mark.
This might be the most highbrow automotive content ever uploaded to UA-cam. Much appreciated.
Not much more you can add to that! The actual Italian Job Muira! The actual roads driven on, Iian singing! Class! All that was missing were the mini's and Mr Caine himself! Fantastic video 😊
Well, this is going to be hard to top. By anyone, actually. Well done!
Impossible
Well I’m almost lost for words.... Utube can close its doors and the last one out turn off the lights now!! You’ve reached the top Iain and produced the best video on utube!!
Not only is Iain a conductor of the finest music on the planet, but he tunes each member of the orchestra......with a piece of garden hose!!! then if that wasn’t enough we get to see Iain himself drive the Italian Job route in the actual car, oh and by the way we get treated to an incredibly good rendition of “on days like these” sung by the great man himself...and if that wasn’t enough Iain then turns all magician on us and pulls the ultimate rabbit out of the hat, an audience with Marcelo Gandini!!!!
Top marks Iain, you just gave us the video equivalent of a lottery win....we are not worthy.
Every video beats the last. Astonishing.
I could not say it better Mister MD.
Signor Gandini, a legend among legends, welcoming Iain in his so magnificient and private domain ! Awesome !
To see Iain being so polite and due respectful is moving. Lucky man !
ToyKingWonder o
haha...so much truth in this comment, an incredible clip this one...
I'm not surprised to learn you are a musician. You need an ear and an accurate sense of pitch to tune those carbs the traditional way. Lovely video.
This is a very true statement
Perfect ear.
He's also a good interviewer. I do this for a living, and he's a natural. It's not the easiest thing to do, and many people get it wrong, but even though I'm sure it was carefully edited, he's got a flair for that too.
And he sang well too.. brilliant
@@Martin_in_Cheltenham You didn't hear the shedload of autotune?
Pure class...Mr Gandini is modest, but you can see the pride in his face when discussing that machine. Brilliant...
Signor Gandini so modest and sypathetic: "I wasn't experienced in the job yet". Maybe this is the clue to authentic art.
The production quality of this channel is going from strength to strength.
Like if you too also agree that Ian is the most interesting car channel on UA-cam
It's Iain actually.
Marc René Yvon actually you aren’t wrong
@@garrydavis3475 Iain also seems like a very nice man too. Very fascinating when he gets into the fine details of the cars.
David Verch to be honest with you I find him the most interesting humble man in the car business
The way he explains stuff he can make a flip flop sound good! And now he even sings!! What a gentleman.
Am I the only one that had tears of joy rolling down my face, during his drive through the Alps...with the film music playing. What an utter joy to meet the man, the myth, the legend. Marcello Gandini.
God Bless you for sharing this experience with us.
P.S. even as a yank, I can quote most of the Italian Job film, word for word. seen it too many times to count.
Every body is bent freddie.
I watched Harry Metcalfe talking to Gordon Murray at the beginning of the week and that was a classic. Now, Iain Tyrrell talking to Marcello Gandini at the end of the week. It doesn't get any better. I hope all the CAD designers are paying attention because the result of CAD is something like the MacLaren Senna.
Fast... Aerodynamic... Efficient... But no soul...
No you weren't the only one jakespeed. I think most of us were in the same boat. 😢😢😢
@@PL-fh8cz You said it exactly my friend. No Soul.
Iain may have just made his UA-cam job almost impossible after this vid, just incredible. The funny part is that we watched his FOR FREE! This guy is a treasure in the automobile world, so glad he decided to take a chance doing his series.
Agreed
This episode… wow. You are a renaissance man Ian!
Ian you’re the best car channel on UA-cam I only wish you were able to share more on a weekly basis however you are busy and don’t even need to even bother with UA-cam. Very very much appreciated with everything you have given us to date very very hungry for more of your knowledge and experience
Technical, involved? Don't apologize. That's why we are here. To revel in automotive glory like this. I could just stare at that gold one all day.
How wonderful it is to hear the designer talk about his Miura. A very special moment for car lovers. Thank you very much indeed Iain.
I thought it was great. And then....he took the Miura to meet Marcello Gandini. I found that profoundly moving.
What a talented guy, battling for vocal dominance over a muira v12 and almost winning!
The only things I can say to that are "You lucky bugger!" and now we know where that lovely rich voice comes from. You really have been blessed.
This is a pure diamond.
I’ve become addict to Iain’s channel, but this blows it off the scale. I don’t know how one could concentrate more automotive passion in just under 16 minutes.
Hats off, Mister Tyrrell
I say this on most of these videos, no loud inappropriate music, no shouting or showing off, no pretend time limit, just a presenter who knows exactly what he's doing, and has great stories to tell as well, long may this channel continue
Thank you thank you thank you, made my day, awesome.
Could have made it 2 hours long. So beautiful!
I watched this video after I make sure that my time is relaxing time with afternoon tea because this is a proper way to watch his videos
This channels just gone stratospheric in my opinion.
im right with that opinion.. it was all most tearful.
It's the Space X of car channels.
"Hello, I am guy who tunes the most exciting cars on earth and from time to time drives them... oh, and also I can sign." What a guy...
True!
I love that Iain authenticated the car and Lamborghini agreed with him, not the other way round !
To think that Mr. Gandini was just in his twenties when he designed the Miura. Still one of the most beautiful cars ever. And it will probably stay so forever. What a legend the man is.
The video that keeps on giving! Italian Job Muira, Gandini design insights and Iain pulling off a Matt Monro cover - amazing!
Questi giorni quando vieni il belle sole
La la la la la-la-la-la la la la la
On days like these when skies are blue and fields are green
I look around and think about what might have been
And then I hear sweet music float around my head
As I recall the many things we left unsaid
OMG, I very rarely comment on these videos, but to boost your already excellent content with the Italian Job Miura in its movie environment , then singing the song (good job, btw), with proceeds going to charity, boosting you already to legendary status, you then get an interview with Marcello Gandini. And what a delight he is.
I think the Miura has to be one of the best car designs of all time, fashions come and go but it has never looked anything other than 'correct'.
Great job, but how will you top this?
Gandini is without equal on the cool factor
Wow, He’s got it all in his CV. Carburetor whisperer and Singer. Love it
I think you have just added a great historical document to the internet. Fantastic job. Nice singing too.
Indeed he did
I‘m sipping an excellent glass of white wine, enjoying the breathtaking sunset on Tenerife and watching another brilliant Tyrrell‘s Classic Workshop video. I can now die as a happy man!
Ignore my comment and you’ll be just fine 🤙
Iain Tyrrell is becoming 'The Most Interesting Man In The World'.
Just when you think Iains' channel can't get anymore interesting, he pulls this one out of the hat. Really great stuff.
A gent of many many talents, what a pure drive. Amazing. Wow.
"You were only supposed to blow the bloody doors off!" 💣
I know I have said this before, but I like to call Iain "The Carb Whisperer" Simply brilliant content sir. Well done!
Absolutely excellent !
What an impression that film left on us of a certain age 😉.
Brilliant Iain.......keep them coming.
jeez Ian, we thought the sounds coming from the pipes of a perfectly tuned vintage Italian exotic could not be beat, and then you went to the recording studio! thank you
I think you've won automotive UA-cam. This is an amazing adventure and story, thank you.
I'm bound to say Mr. Tyrrell; when you look at the viewing figures and subscriber rates of some HQ producers like this, and that it can be done every bit as well as a traditional broadcaster, it does make the future of the aggressive, metropolitan, insular BBC (and others to be fair) look very thin indeed.
I resisted new media for years, and I'm an arch tradionalist in many ways, but even I have to admit when I'm wrong, and the future has sort of rushed up in front of us.
When content of this quality is available upon demand and people aren't threatened with prison if they don't pay the licence fee, I think the future is clear.
Well done Sir. As Ian Fleming once said in one of the Bond books - there is nothing more enjoyable than listening to an expert who really knows his subject.
Hear! Hear!
Swedish public service is now totaly payed by national tax. Nine billion punds per year whether you use it or not. Socialism at it's finest.
In a way music and singing and hearing the tune, the touch and the vibes of a classic Lamborghini are one of a kind. In these strange times we need more of this pleasures, don't we.
2 absolute geniuses and your rendition of days likes these amazing what a voice Ian
15 minutes of pure analog quality.
So here I am, watching the video and thinking, just as the Miura starts the climb, "oh boy, copyright infringement incoming" just to read 'performed by Iain Tyrrell'. This is marvelous. You are truly a renaissance man.
Ho, ho! 😃 This is 'an embarrassment of riches' you are just spoiling us now Iain...😬 10/10
"I'm having a great time, I don't know if anyone else is, but I am!". Believe me Iain, we are having a great time too.,
Your telling me thats Mr Tyrrell's voice? What next, we find out he's a Latin ballroom champ.........! Love it, big thumbs up.
This is the best UA-cam video of all time
THE muira from the Italian job !
I’m in the alps right now, in chamonix not too far from where that was filmed .
I’m not allowed to watch it as I’m out with the mrs ,
but rest assured when we get back to the camper , I still won’t be allowed to watch it 😂
Wow , I passed comment before I had actually watched the video .
Superb, can’t believe he took it back to Gandini !!
Matt Munro would have been proud of your singing Iain. One of my favourite movies of all time - The Italian Job . Get to drive the Miura and talk to the maestro, Mr. Gandini himself. Great video! Can't ask for more! Cheers mate!
WOW!! No fluff, no filler, just automotive bliss. And Gandini... incredible!! Keep it up Iain, you and Harry's Garage are the best!!
The best supercar. The best movie. The best song. Wow. And then... let’s add on an interview with M. Gandini. What a triumph. I’m so grateful to Harry to have let me discover your channel and this sonorous video. Muira sounds great. More car drive videos requested. Congratulations Iain from Australia.
15 minutes of goosebumps. Thank you so much.
This channel was already in my top three, with this episode it has gone straight to number one! (Sorry Harry and Sam). Encyclopaedic knowledge, tunes cars by ear and has a great voice too. Brilliant.
Watch and learn! A polite and well-skilled true English gentleman. Maybe Britain is not dead yet! Thank you very much for extremely good and well presented content.
Yes, Ian can tune an engine by ear and sing in tune. Nice film. Molto bene.
This is the best video I've ever seen on UA-cam. This is my favourite video from this channel so far. Thank you Iain for sharing such invaluable gem with us mere mortals.
I can’t believe you haven’t had years of experience in presenting these videos. Polished, informative and a natural in front of the camera.
And I went and thought "No ones ever going to top Harry's T50 video with Gordon Murray!" So glad you proved me wrong Iain! Thank You!
Poetry. Thank You Mr. Tyrrell
What a multi-talented Legend, the song is beautiful
A man of many talents: mechanic, driver, singer, interviewer, UA-camr.
It would almost come as no surprise the videos are so good.
"On Days Like These" not in my world, what a wonderful podcast..!
Three months from design to show....and we think we’re so clever these days! This is awesome, thank you. I’m tone deaf but was singing ‘Days Like These’ to myself in my helmet on a tour of Italy last year on Ducati. I grew up loving The Italian Job, and still do. I always remember the Muira in it as red.
a beautiful video and with iain singing? am i dreaming? is this christmas?
have you seen his Kenneth Williams impression, thats really good too. a man of many talents
A golden ear and a golden voice! Sweet!
A beautiful rendition of Matt Monro's "On Days Like These" Iain, Quincy Jones would be proud. Oh, and the car is pretty good too.
Not really a super car nerd myself, but I must confess to getting a little shiver down my spine watching that epitome of design perfection sweeping round the curves to Iain’s smoky singing. Pure class…
Loved it!!! What an excellent episode! So interesting! Thank you Iain! And what a brilliant rendition of “On days like these”
I'm gob smacked that there was an interview with one of the designers of the car. What an amazing interview.I would put 1000 likes if I could.
Me too. Just incredible
Gandini was a Master of design of the highest order. Such a privilege to have met him in his home, with the Muira too!
It was indeed!
Oh, and Matt Monroe has surely raised a celestial glass to you.
An Oscar for this one
THE Miura, THE song, THE Gandini and now... THE Iain Tyrrell. Iconic content, brilliantly put together and orchestrated. A knighthood to follow I think. Bravo!
I've been watching you and others throughout lock down and furlough. What an interesting trip to location areas in italy, but what an honour for you (&us) to meet the esteemed Mr Gandini. I knew his history re the lambos and many others but I recall him from the Citroen Bx 16v Gti adverts.
Great channel Ian. Thankyou.
Take care, Ben Marshall
This man never fails to amaze great voice. I was lucky enough to drive the road in an Aston Martin V8 vantage with Matt Monro playing
This video will never be topped. What an amazing experience, thanks for sharing.
My favourite car in the whole world, I saw this film when I was 7 years old on TV, it took me many years to find out what car that actually was . I own matthew fields behind the scenes book autographed by the author , cast members , producer Michael deeley and even Don Black who wrote the lyrics to "on day like these" its my most treasured item.👍👍👏👏
What a career highlight this must have been, Iain. Congratulations.
Ari Vatanen referred to his memory of the Group B era as being "like a pearl in my life". This meeting with Sr Gandini must have have been such a moment for you.
Proper car, proper driver. Simplicity is key to enjoyment.
Trying to find words on how much I enjoyed watching this
You have fulfilled every petrol head’s childhood dream, driving a... THE Muira on those roads between Italy and a France, just amazing. This is the sort of content we came for... and we weren’t disappointed! Keep up the great work!! ♥️
That was by far my favourite episode. A man of many wonderful talents. I have seen the original Italian Job film over 100 times and ive always wondered what happened to that car. Absolutely fantastic video.
Another magical journey to remember- ♥️😇🌹👍
This guy is a legend. Thanks for the video.
I knew it!! I just knew it! You ARE Bryan Ferry!!
Il forza del destino Iain what an interview. Thanks for keeping the Italian. Bravissimo
These days when there is little on television worth viewing its so nice to be able to enjoy some quality viewing on utube. Iain you could have used this for your Christmas special. A wonderful video. Thank you sir!
