Great tips! One of the best ones is to take care of your clothes, especially if one is embracing slow fashion. A traditional tailor I know said that it is important when you get home and take off your coat / jacket, or other items like skirt, trousers, to brush it over gently with a soft brush before putting it back in the closet. Particularly for those of us living in cities, with pollution, the brush removes those tiny specks of loose dirt which would otherwise become ground in and need dry-cleaning. The same tailor said that by brushing down after every wear, you only need to have your clothes professionally cleaned once a year. He uses baby shampoo to clean coats. So that saves on the pollution caused by cleaning products (and expense). The other thing is to use proper hangers designed to support structured garments which need good shoulder support - that also helps keen your garments looking new and pristine.

I’m trying to build a habit of regularly taking pics of myself in my everyday outfits and compiling them in a note on my phone. It’s great to have a resource of outfits I’ve loved, but also so that if I begin to feel stuck or in a rut, I can glance back over what I’ve been wearing and identify what I like and what I don’t. It’s easier to make tweaks that way, or notice maybe what style features I like or don’t like. 💛

This is very helpful, especially with changes in seasons.I recently had one of those photos from a year ago pop up in my phone. It was an outfit I was wearing - obviously a winning outfit combination.

Hi Alyssa, I am on my slow fashion journey since 2016 (I discovered Signe's Use less channel back then) and all of these habits so resonate with my take on fashion. I have been five months pregnant now and I only keep thinking about how to go through the changes of my body without buying new clothes that I'll only be using for a limited period of time. I already asked a few friends if they have any maternity jeans I could borrow and I am still trying to use my wardrobe as cleverly as possible these days. Wish me luck ✌️

Hi Eva. I'm going through the same thing right now. I'm trying to wear what I already own, but I have purchased a couple of second hand items. If you have friends who can lend you some clothes, that's great. If not, make sure to check second hand stores/apps. There are a lot of options out there since, as you said, we'll only use these pieces for a while. Good luck :)

@@elenaleon9391 Hi, that's great! Yes second hand are next on my list. However second hands here in the Czech republic are not so great - bad materials and very destroyed clothes. I think I'll ve solving it as I go. Good luck to you too ✌️I hope the rest of the pregnancy goes well!

Hi Alyssa, great vlog as always! This year I bought one of those rolling clothes racks for my room and it has really helped me work with my style. I used it recently to build a capsule for travel and for the first time, I found I packed exactly what I needed to visit family in Florida, something I have always struggled with for all sorts of reasons. I also use it to hang items I think I will get a lot of use from in a given week based on weather and my planned activities. So on a cool week I hang a long cashmere cardigan for example and I’m surprised at how many outfits I can just add it to. Sometimes I just really get into an item and I hang it there and find all sorts of ways to wear it throughout the week. I also hang garments that need to be steamed - that way I don’t forget to do it. You’ve never talked about racks, lol, but seeing you (and others!) use one gave me the idea, so thanks!!

Try bottoms made from lighter weight fabrics that are breathable like linen, lightweight cotton or tencel. Also midi (past the knee) or maxi length skirts/dresses provide more airflow and coverage. If your bottom is flowy or wide leg go for a more fitted top. If your bottoms fit more fitted/tight go with a looser fit top for better proportion.

These are all great tips. Playing in your closet is my favorite tip. I play in my closet more and more. I wish I could take a good 30 min sometimes but I find I get overwhelmed so I usually take 5 or 10 min and just work with one item and see how many things I can pair with it that I haven't before. It might be a pair of pants or a big chunky bracelet or a pair of boots. Those 5 -10 min sessions snuck in here and there add up. And I just realized now I could take photos of my ideas for later...another tip...

I have a dedicated spot in my closet for clothes that I need to rewear before laundering. Esp for my silk and cashmere pieces, I’d rather not wash/dry clean them after merely 1 use. They used to pile up on a chair, but I found an isolated spot in my closet where they can hang separately from my clean clothes and now I have less mess in my room 😅

I will wear them once to work (in Salon as a hairdresser), and wear them at home over my weekends a couple more times, then hand wash them in delicate laundry liquid.

When choosing outfits I try to give myself time. If I rush, I choose the same thing over and over and then I don't feel like I have anything to wear. I like to start with the one thing I want to wear. I lay it out on the bed then start putting other things with it. Even if I don't think they go, sometimes they do. The true test is when I wear it "does it feel like me". If it doesn't, no big deal. At least I tried something new. Thanks so much!

Remember to polish your shoes. For those younger people who have no idea what 'Im talking about, this means applying a type of cream that is the same color of your leather shoes to clean the leather, enrich the color and condition and protect the shoes. So often I notice that both men and women neglect caring for their shoes. Shabby, scuffed shoes ruin a beautifully put together outfit and reflect a personality that cares little for the price they paid for the shoe, the effort that went into the construction of the shoe and generally a sense of poor self respect. After applying the cream all over the shoe, remember to gently buff the leather after the cream has been absorbed by the leather and you have a pair of shoes that look 'new' again and become a softer leather that will take you through many more years.

I agree with you. I think that most shoes nowadays are not made of leather, so people don't even know about polishing them. I do find it impossible to find different colours of polish, I have black and a clear leather conditioning wax for tan and brown and red.

Hi Alyssa: What you are doing is so important. As a Chilean i am chocked by the effects of over consumption and textile waist. Have you seen images from the mountains of discarded clothes that end up at the ATACAMA dessert in Chile? DW has an excellent report.
Since I saw it I stopped buying new things with the only exceptions of undergarments, socks and shoes. In my grandmother's time people would reuse garments, adapt them to fit other family members, upgrade changing the buttons etc. While in college I made a dress out of these white embroidered sheets that I dyed purple. People offered to buy my dress! I think i will start dying older garments to refresh them. So much waist ! It is tragic how all this ends up in poorer countries.

We all have that friend that can look great in a paper bag - she helped me redesign my closet and it changed my daily life. Pulled everything out, laid it out by color (was I in a black rut), went through each piece - donate keep; then put it all back in color blocks. Now easy to find and mix, match. Each January I turn backwards every single hanger, if not worn in 6 month the it is removed and donated. We go through all 4 seasons and temps in 6 mo. Color blocking your wardrobe is a game changer.

I love this video. I wore a nice dress backwards in high school. It was prettier and more flattering to me. And long before "ruching" was a thing (as far as I know), I "ruched" a top with a safety pin.

I asked for a Nordgreen watch for last Christmas and I love it :) 3 straps, so I basically have 3 different watches, whichs feels so luxurious

You are so lovely, especially your hair and I really like your style. Love the blue on you. It has been awhile since I visited this channel. Is there a style video for warm weather dressing? I live in the deep south, USA where it is hot and humid out and artic cold inside because of air conditioning. Also I wondered if you have a capsule wardrobe or have a full closet

One tip that works for me is I hang a favourite skinny Brave belt on the same hanger as my silk Kooples dress and that way I have an instant going out look.

I’ve been following you for a long time and I really love your videos. My biggest issue is finding clothing that fits. I am 5‘10“ which I don’t think is all that tall, however there are zero pants that ever fit me. I think part of the problem too is that I’m short-waisted.
The best I can do is jeans and leggings.
I also live in a sort of clothing desert so I have to buy the majority of my clothes online. Can you recommend one or more websites that offer quality items in tall sizes?

Hi gorgeous! Ok I saved up and got the Nordgreen the two tone 36m watch. I LOVE it! Do you know if links can be removed form the two tone band? I messaged them but haven't heard back. I have a 6 inch wrist so it would be more comfy if it was just a wee bit smaller. Hugs! :-)

Lol the last tip was the best one I think, I have this chair that collects my jeans and sweaters on the regular, and then my fluffy cat either thinks the floor is where they should be, OR makes herself a house hippo nest in them. Heh, put your sh*te away _inf!! 💚
Love these lazy day formats, so cozy!

Hi Alyssa!! Such a gorgeous vlog! Love seeing your surroundings! I’ve been such a fashion addict and shopaholic all my life and have so many clothes I can’t see straight, “retail therapy”. Thank you for your vlogs!!! This is one of your best videos. I’m working on simplifying and downsizing daily, but then I go to Zara or see Ralph Lauren email and buy 5 blazers? How do I conquer this? Please help! Any recommendations for a good small steamer? Thx much yr fabulous💜and look better than anyone I’ve seen in a button down shirt, not my style. But looks so glamorously fab and chic on you🌸🌸🌸 🏖greetings from California Dont forget your sunscreen

Great tips. I love to iron our clothes and i line dry it as well. Look at each garment and fix little issues before they become bigger issues that can potentially ruin the garment. I look after my clothes, so they last a long time. You don't have to spend a lot of money to look good, clean, ironed, polished goes a long way in making you look good. One last thing, if you can't walk in heels don't do it, i remember seeing a beautiful woman in Zurich, she was tall, elegant and was carrying designer brands shopping bags, but she couldn't walk in heels which she had totally ruined and so the whole scene looked awful.

I love big square scarves and rectangular flowy scarves. However, it makes me hot around my neck and not good for my short neck. I saw a recent Japanese magazine photo of Stray Kids’ leader Bang Chan. He wore a solid color LS button down shirt and solid color long pants (dif colors). The only accessory is a big printed square scarf tied into a loop and wear crossbody style. The effect is chef’s kisses, so chic yet understated.
