- “Socratic Wisdom”-knowing our own ignorance-is the ability to differentiate what we do not know from what we do. This is a key component of objectivity, vital for properly weighing and implementing the knowledge we possess and directing ongoing investigation and inquiry. In this talk, Jason Rheins discusses the nature and importance of this introspective clarity and how it is achieved. We will cover practical methods and specific tips for identifying our ignorance and differentiating it from our knowledge.
Recorded live on June 18th in Anaheim, CA as part of OCON 2024

Top 5 best talks I’ve ever been in attendance for.
Which you will have forgotten by the end of the week.
Great talk and humorous lead in.
Practically side splitting ..............n to.
👏👏👏👏👏
After this lecture, I am convinced that Scooby Doo should be used to illustrate all philosophical principles.
Old saying: "The day you think you know it all, is the day you have a lot to learn."
Socrates' discovery of rational definition is his basic importance. Peikoff says or implies this in a brief history of the discovery of reason in "Obj Thru Induction." The know/ignorance distinction is derivative ,non-basic.
I had always wondered about Socratic skepticism. Perhaps its claim by modern skeptics or nihilists who use the arg from authority
Ad Trump, a new informal fallacy.
I am positive that Ayn Rand would not delete comments here, or even delay them. I see you.
I'm not sure that's true.
I've read in more than one source Rand's life she would hold regular soirée's in her flat, were the invited guests would listen to Rand's latest monologue.
If any of the guests dared to question her ideas she might ask them to leave at best she would never invite them again.
So much for free speech.

No evidence

Free speech excludes someone elses property. Obj is not libertarian, anarchist subjectivist nihilism.

"No evidence"
look up video Ayn Rand ugly triangle.
If you are publishing on a open network you must expect counter points of view.
The fact that many anti Rand posts are deleted shows the weakness of your cause.
If you can't take it don't give it.

No evidence?
Get hold of a book by Lisa Duggan "Mean Girl: Ayn Rand and the Culture of Greed "

If you choose an open debate and then delete opposing view points you're proving what you are promoting doesn't work.
You fail.
Does anybody who considers themselves Randian faithful actually think for themselves without anybody from ARI telling them what to think and what values you should live by?
What's wrong with you people,?
If you had been born in Germany during the 1930's you would have spent your time taking oaths to Hitler and singing the Horst-Wessel-Lied.
If you had been born in 1940'/50/60s China you would all be reading Mao's little red book
Under Stalin you would be members of the Young Pioneers quoting horror stories of the corrupt West.
Get a grip ,do your own thinking
What are You mad about?
@@Triple_J.1
So asking people to do their own thinking is a mad idea?
You must be mad.
Independence includes learning from others w/an independent mind. Independence is not subjectivism or living as a hermit in a cave.
@@TeaParty1776
I wouldn't know or care, I've never lived the life of a hermit.
your turn.
You evade justifying your implicit context:
independence excludes learning from others.
