Playing mono black means you have to survive through their removal spells. Mono red players don't have the conviction to do so. If they can't win in five turns, they're already bored and need their juice and a nap.
I had a mono red player slow roll me today with two Swifties on the field. My Grixis control deck got right under them and rolled them up. I was so confused as to why they didn't just burn me out by turn 5.
@@GavinShandy Queue options that filter the "original" queues at the expense of wait time might be cool. Not even just alchemy/nonalchemy, but also when you really hate certain deck types, eg. ">10 discard spells", ">10 counterspells", ">5 land destruction spells" that you can choose not to play against... (single card filters might also be interesting, eg. for wash away, dark ritual, or other cards some players hate, but that might really cause issues with queue time, or just filter colors, since pretty much any deck in those colors has to run these cards...)
You could also play Underworld Dreams as an alternative to Sheoldred as the draw finisher. From an interface standpoint, it's much easier than targeting with Bowmasters.

Re: Your outro and wanting rebalanced cards to be their own cards - They are! The card is not called "The One Ring," it's called "A - The One Ring" and you can still use the normal printed version in Direct Challenges, but it's banned in formats where rebalances are available.
I like it when draft chaff is buffed. I like the digital only cards and mechanics. But I do agree that making cards worse than their paper version (or completely different with the same art, like you mentioned with Baldur’s Gate) isn’t good. At the very least, there should be wildcard compensation for nerfs.

If the changes to the cards where only for when they are used in alchemy I wouldn’t see the issue. Then if they are “overpowered” in historic or something either ban them or limit the amount. One Ring could’ve had a “there could only be one copy of this card in your deck” text line and the burden counters should’ve gone on the player much like poison counters.
I'd of loved the velamachus game the opponent would of tried to win but he didn't know that CGB burned his combos and had no answers in hand. The last game was great too.

And also card name should be starting from "Alchemy" text not icon: "Alchemy Bla-Bla-Bla" using the same font and color. In this case those cards will be "inspired by paper cards" and not not so irritating.
The one ring is the only thing broken about alchemy, everything else is just fun and dynamic (compared to standard after playing hours and hours) - bring on the alchemy content 😎
They should have nerfed the ring by just making you lose the life when you tap it, instead of losing the life at upkeep so you can't just play your next ring to avoid the damage. Bowmasters was an appropriate nerf.
Only losing the life when you tap the ring would be a buff - not a nerf. I've killed an opponent because they had a lot of temptation counters on their ring, and i kept on using counter spells to prevent them from sacrificing it. Because the life loss happens at the beginning of upkeep, their ring killed them. If the life loss happens just when you activate the ring, then it makes the life loss optional, and I would've lost the game.
@@ironboundfate Blinking the nontoken gruff triplets creates more gruff triplet tokens. I think that is what is being referenced here. You are correct that it doesn't provide the counters though.

bowmasters and one ring completely warped formats where if you werent playing them, you were at a severe disadvantage. there was no reason to not play them, which means they were broken.

Totally agree with your view on digital only cards. I wish they would separate the format into original historic/ brawl and alchemy historic/ brawl.
Wholeheartedly agreed but I think it would result in queue time issues. Maybe a dual queue would be kinda cool for people who just don’t care.
