One day you have absolutely no fucking idea what you’re doing. You’re spending hours tweaking sounds and then… nothing. Not a clue if this is any good or trash. But you do the work, you squeeze in the hours. Your muse appreciates that. Is it perseverance? Is it what we call experience? The next day you open up the machine, you listen to the sounds and there is this little lightheadedness, a little dizziness and a serious kind of mindfulness. Suddenly the road opens up in front of you and the path is clear. Every knob turn creates magic. You’re jumping up and down like a little child. You know it’s a good take.
Technically, I’m using again my “keyboard untracking” idea like I explained on the previous video, putting random values on the phase of the LFO modulating the filter frequency for each step. Then tweaking the depth knob to find just the right groove. But now I’ve employed another one of my favourite techniques. I make a sequence that I like. Then I copy/paste it 4 times on all 4 tracks of the Digitone. Then I start changing the sound for each track till I get something like drums and something like a baseline or a melodic line. Then trying to figure out a way to have them play together tweaking even further. It’s not a joke, it can take hours and hours of your time. But when it hits the spot, it’s worth it.

How does Elektron make all of their boxes sound like you’re blasting plastic transients through a metal box? It’s a very tactile sound. Even the dt has it. Is the filters? The dac?

That being said, great video, again. I love my Digitone, using it all the time. Major letdown for me is it's only 8-voice. Nothing beats having 4 tracks simultaneously playing triads.
