Freddie Highmore is one of the best young actors around! Ever since I saw him in August Rush, I knew he was destined for fame!
Deeneesy I felt the same way about the very first Good Doctor episode. August Rush has been my all time favorite movie. So many talented people. I'm always looking forward to the next show.
Yes! When I realized it was him playing in this show I was so excited. I love August Rush. Though the fact that it has Alec O'Loughlin in it is kinda funny. He worked with him before Daniel Kim 😂

This show has more Asian casts than any medical drama that I've seen, which is reflective of the medical industry in general. Thanks to executive producer Daniel Dae Kim (who left Hawaii Five O because they wont pay him and Grace Park the same salary as the other actors).
I believe it has more Asian casts because it is a South Korean production.
Yea with a south korean producer he has control over who gets cast amd he ensures more asians are cast.

As an Mexican American autistic person whos also in their 20s I love the show and relate a lot to Shaun. I'm glad that early on it's clarified Shaun's an autistic savant so there's the difference but also that he's not made out to be a superhero. He's just a smart guy who happens to be autistic.

The most accurate part of the show is that they assert he doesn’t just have autism, but also savant syndrome. It helps get the right message out xx

When I saw this show’s producer is David Shore (who also produces an all time great show called “House”), I knew I’d be tuning in at the beginning! It’s an amazing show with brilliant writers and actors! Love Daniel Dae Kim (since his “Lost” days).
I was afraid to watch this show because my 16 year old best friend in all the world is high functioning autistic and can read music and is absolutely amazing with the violin and my heart hurts all the time because he makes attempts to connect socially but can not. Finally forced myself to watched the first episode and just loved how Freddie Highmore portraits the character. Truly think this show is a hit.
Maybe a pen pal would be a good start to engage in socially without the person right there in your face.
My son has autism. I hope some day he finds a friend as wonderful as you. God bless you!

The Good Doctor is a phenomenal television program.
Congratulations to the show’s creator, entire cast, writers, and producers on a new season of episodes. Season 3 thus far has been a great watch. S3 Ep3 - ‘Claire’ is a jaw dropper. 😳 Totally unexpected ending.

Filmed in the greater Vancouver BC Canada area. I've been on set 6 times now as a local filming coordinator. This is a great series and I love it. The crew and actors are all very friendly.

@Iranian Bob I think his point is that acting should allow the actor to become anyone they want to or are chosen to be. Who's to say that a autistic character in a show has to be portrayed by someone autistic or has to be portrayed by someone able-bodied. The show had examples of both as mentioned earlier in this thread. If the stepson of the original commenter was told he could only play autistic characters that would be deemed inappropriate so why should an able-bodied actor be told they can't play an autistic character. Personally I believe Freddie Highmore did a good job of portraying this character and his lack of autism isn't blackface because in no way does the show attempt to disrespect or attack those on the spectrum. Calling it blackface is very inaccurate and rather disrespectful because blackface suggests the show and the actor made fun of autism or used it to amuse the audience. Sorry for the rant but I believe this needed to be said

Such a great show. I was hesitant to watch it at first, because I have a son with severe autism. But I am glad I did. Also, as an Asian woman from Southeast Asia, I love the fact that there are so many PoC characters.

I can hardly wait until time for The Good Doctor show to come on Monday nights. It is awesome. The last episode of the second season was very emotional. The actor's & acting was incredible. Freddie is a very talented young man as an actor & writer. All the actors are so good in their parts & perfect for the part they portray. I'm looking forward to many more seasons of this show.

This is an excellent show that is well written and well acted. It is a take off from the South Korean drama of the same name which I watched when it aired. The drama was very good so I understand why Hollywood wanted to make their own version. Episode 1 was almost identical to the Korean drama, but the episodes that followed were completely different which pleased me because I wanted to see it become original to Hollywood. Between the two, I like this show much better. The Korean version has their culture shown so of course watching how abusive superiors are to the staff is hard to watch, when in the US, it is illegal to treat your co workers like trash. I say culture, because there are sooooo many korean dramas that show employers belittling, kicking and hitting their employees that there must be some truth to it as being normal to them. I'm not Korean so correct me if I'm wrong about that, and I sure hope I am.
