I'm an 80s born man . I'd always go listen to my dads vinyl records and get lost in music . I've always been told I had an old soul . If having an old soul means I can go back in time to experience the beautiful angelic voices, and feel the depth of my soul embraced by words of emotion serenading me then yes I'll gladly be an old soul . I'm enamored, and on this love high . I think I'm in love . And I proudly say it . . . . . I'd love to meet , fall in love with and see this angel daily 😍😍😍🕊🕊🕊🕊🌹🌹🌹
You are no the only one. I was born in 1969 and I too get lost listening the music lyrics voices harmonies etc etc and its beautiful. Listening the 45rps from 1966 to 1970 day dreaming Wishing I was a part of this era and in love with the music!
I love how sophisticated their sound is compared to most of the other girl groups of the era. Sheila Ross is a real stunner. If she had come along during the video era, she would likely have become very famous.
+Len Walker My parents had one of their albums. The songs were all rather sophisticated. I think this must have been one of those songs that hit in a "wave". (It wasn't popular all over the place at once, and so never made it to the top 10, yet most people know it well.)
+shmuli9 That happened a lot when artists were on labels that didn't have the muscle to push a record hard. A record could be huge in one city, while just starting to get airplay in another, while in a third city, it never makes a splash at all. Many regional, and local hits back in the era before consultants, and program directors took over the radio business.
+mrstep2me mr. Step 2 this is JT this song is so great and so well done by Sheila it didn't need much of a push buddy today's music is the purest of pure garbage you have a great night God bless you
The RICH ORCHESTRATION ALONE on The ROYALETTES’ original flat out BURIES the cover versions… and the ladies’ sweet , plaintive harmonies, and Shiela’s beautiful lead vocals is icing on the CAKE !! I can agree with the old saying: “Some songs just SHOULD NOT be COVERED…because they were just done SO RIGHT the FIRST TIME !!”
That saying makes zero sense. The more a song is recorded, more royalties to the songwriters. You have every right to prefer the original but to say a song shouldn't be re-recorded hurts the songwriters
F A N T A S T I C - lead in Sheila, Royalettes singing Teddy Randazzo creations (Little Anthony) were exceptional. Beautiful. Memorable. Give me back the 60s.
On this day in 1966 {August 23rd} the Royalettes performed "It's Gonna Take A Miracle"* on the Dick Clark produced ABC-TV weekday-afternoon program 'Where The Action Is'... Exactly one year earlier on August 23rd, 1965 the song was at #53 on Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart, three weeks later it would peak at #41 {for 1 week} and it spent 11 weeks on the Top 100... It reached #28 on Billboard's Hot R&B Singles chart... The Baltimore quartet had one other Top 100 record, "I Want To Meet Him", it peaked at #72 later in 1965... * In 1982 Deniece Williams covered "It's Gonna Take A Miracle", her version peaked at #1 {for 2 weeks} on the Hot R&B Singles chart and at #10 in the Top 100 chart...
Sheila Ross?!! Is that her name?! You mean she is Diana Ross's sister? Oh no. That explains why Sheila Ross only had one hit with the Royalettes. No way was Diana Ross going to let her sister have more than one hit. Diana Ross made sure that there was going to be only one queen in the Ross family and it wasn't going to be Sheila.
Oh Sheila you're so great it's like birds chirping one of the greatest songs done by one of the greatest singers of the golden era today's music couldn't put a pimple on anybody's ass compared to then Sheila you're the greatest a bless you have a great night
...Beauty is always close...We talk too much and feel too little...The eye misses all the colors and is sated only by all the darkness...Such a waste of precious time...Tomorrow becomes yesterday...We wonder where today went...This song was a beautiful moment...A gentle breeze across the brow...A sunbeam through the clouds...Wish that I had heard this once upon a long time ago in the A Shau Valley...Thank you, lovely ladies for being a breeze and a sunbeam..."...I am certain of nothing except the holiness of the Heart's affections and the truth of the Imagination..."(Keats)...Blessings to all points of the compass...James Patrick Casey, Esq.

This beautiful song only lets me know that I have outlived my music. I'm 68 years old, and I never turn on my radio any more, as what they are playing, I don't want to hear. I have not heard a song worth hearing in 15 years, and I don't choose to hear the hip-hop horse shit that all stations play. How people consider this music, is beyond me--it is absolute crap--period!
bjclark1017 amen! I'm only 38 but people cal me an old soul because I listen to oldies al the time. I tell you there will never be an era in music like this
+ILMJXXX Yes thank you so much - my favourite girl band (maybe the Lovelites...) - Only When You're Lonely - what a song. Have you seen the footage of Brenda and the Tabulations singing That's In The Past? It's here on UA-cam...

Tell u the truth I don't remember them that well. I don't think they got alot of newyork airplay. In 65 the ronnettes and the brill building girl groups were killing it and Detroit motown was bubbling up. But still I think this is a great act that I think was ahead of their time.
Goes to show you Gorfy wasnt the only one separating lead singer from background..The Lead was several feet in beginning behind or in front with cameras focused on her
A Great Song From My Past. BEAUTIFUL SONG
Beautiful beautiful music, beautiful beautiful women!!!! ⭐❤️
It's gonna take a miracle to bring fine music and harmony back like these ladies do...
This was classy, sophisticated music and the girls performed it with style and elan. Their two albums on MGM are standouts from the early 1960s.
Baltimore's finest all girl group to this day and yes Sheila Ross was stunning
Shelia Ross emulates exactly what a lead singer does best, perform, act and sing. How many fella's she "kill" with that beautiful smile
She has the most MESMERIZING AND SPARKLING EYES! ;-)
Sheila Ross is incredibly beautiful and talented and so are the rest of the group. Sighhhhhh....if only this was still 1965.
The best of Baltimore meets Brooklyn's Teddy Randazzo and comes up with an early Philly sound.
They're beautiful.
Super to see them. Long live soul music!
Love those dance moves. This whole song and group radiates sexiness without filth. Love it!
no doubt buddy have a great night
Hey Niki Minaj , you paying attention?
@@richardleonard4281 Niki Minaj is too busy showing her butt crack while twerking to be paying attention to any Royalettes.
Had the biggest schoolboy crush on her. Learned a move or two also
What stands out for me is the lead singers clarity, you can understand every word she’s saying🗣️ Plus she’s nice l👀king 🥰

@ my alltime r&b ballad no. 1 !! ;-) *
She is really beautiful
This ORIGINAL version by The Royalettes is so much BETTER than the copycat COVER versions...that it's just NO CONTEST !!!
This is ok. Deniece Williams' cover is the best....no question.
...to each his own .
To ME , nothing's better than the ORIGINAL .
Best version for me is Laura Nyro with LaBelle.
The Royalettes own it; Laura Nyro killed it (with obvious reverence toward the original) & Deniece got jiggy with it.
Laura absolutely nailed it
The writers and record company were ahead of their time with this song, and the vocals are as well
The RICH ORCHESTRATION ALONE on The ROYALETTES’ original flat out BURIES the cover versions…

The main singer beautiful AND confident!
Beautiful song from a beautiful group, produced by the great Teddy Randazzo. Their star deserved to shine more brightly. I love all their songs.
They were from Baltimore. They took their name from the Royal theater in Baltimore where they often performed. 💛

Great voice and a great group!
It's a shame how great artists were so taken advantage of by those shyster, so called record producers! The Royalettes Were True Nubian Beauty!!
It's so awesome.

It’s 9/23/24 in Austin, Tx! Great song and awesome singers! Seniors were great in ‘68! I’m 75 and still rockin to the ‘60s today🎶🥳
This song is similar in arrangement to Brenda Holloway's "Every Little Bit Hurts" released on Motown Records in the same year.
I said this on another Channel but the melody reminds me of "Ohh Baby Baby" by The Miracles.
All music is syncretic, bordering one from another. You can hear strains of Mozart in Beethoven and think - he stole that. LOL
A certain era will have a certain similar sound.
The original is still the best!!! Sheila is fabulous!!
