PRODUCED BY ALLEN STANTON. ARRANGED BY LEROY KIRKLAND GROUP MEMBERS ARE: RUBY NASH GARNETT, EDDIE ROBERTS, LEROY FANN, GEORGE LEE & RONALD MOSELEY. YOU CAN READ ALL ABOUT THIS GROUP ON MARV GOLDBERG'S SITE HERE: www.uncamarvy.com/Romantics/ro...
A Bossa Nova beat, with sweet vocals, great harmonies and sharp suits...now that’s real class!
Ruby Nash is living in Akron, Ohio, her hometown, at 87. I saw her appear in the PBS show in Pittsburgh in Spring 2002. The crowd went crazy for her performance.
This is live and they hit every note spot-on, the harmonies are tight and the lead vocals is up there where it belongs. Respect brings back memories.
And no auto tune
Right, no lip sync. Real as the sun. And just as spectacular.
@@VirgoThruAndThru Right, because REAL TALENT doesn't need it! LOL
Definitely in my top 100. (Probably top 20)
My dear friend played vibraphone on the recording. RIP George 🥀
A rare live performance from 1964....and it was sublime.....Enjoy folks.
HAPPY 90TH BIRTHDAY

That's what I call real singing. Ms. Ruby Nash's voice is beautiful, and the Romantics sounds like crooning angels. Thank you Ms. Ruby Nash & RIP to the Romantics.
Mike Douglas is a class act. Gave many a chance.
Just Simple and BEAUTIFUL….no run on notes…no high pitched notes…just lovely!! ❤️
This was my mom's song. She would play this over and over and I listen to this and think of my mommy how much I love her. I treasure this song because of my love for her. She would sing this while hanging out the clothes.
A very sweet story, Joe. This performance from the Mike Douglas Show aired the day before I was born. I know, in my heart at least, that Mother saw this broadcast because she was an avid fan of Mike Douglas and Merv Griffin. Another highlight of the show, aired on different occasions was the appearances of Julie DiJohn and the DiJohn sisters. Julie was hysterical as she sang and pushed her wig up and down and did other funny yet endearing antics.
Thank you for sharing your lovely story, Joseph. Perhaps our mothers have met in heaven. God bless.🥲😘
Wowwww Cooool
Joe..touching comment ... just remember these sweet moments with your mamma. Lost my beloved mother at the age of 86...she also loved music...played the great Elvis song "softly I will leave you"...at her funeral ...not a dry eye in the house!
Bob, Hove, UK
Beautiful memory of your mom. I can just see her hanging up clothes, singing and dancing.
😢
I miss Mom too! 😭
They had glorious harmonies. They rank with the absolute best!
Doesn’t get much better, this is one of the most beautiful songs ever recorded.
HAPPY 88TH BIRTHDAY

"RUBY & THE ROMATICS"
The Romantics had great harmonies! They deserved better.
They had two huge hits in the 1980s: "What I Like About You" and "Talking In Your Sleep." Truly magnificent music
If I'm not mistaken, Ruby (Nash Garnett) and the Romantics have been enshrined into, and at, the Vocal Group Hall of Fame 😀😀😀😀😀. I'm not surprised. They were a supremely talented vocal quintet 😀😀😀😀😀. I also 🤔 Ruby Nash Garnett is the last surviving member of the vocal quintet, too 😀😀😀😀😀.

No, those songs were by a 80’s Rock Band that STOLE the name of the Original Romantics’
Ruby & The Romantics we’re inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame…and the Rhythm & Blues Hall of Fame…but, so far, The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame has ignored them.
One microphone for Ruby and one for the quartet. It takes a lot of talent to pull off such a flawless live performance. Respect!
This was from the Mike Douglas (variety) Show, which originated from Cleveland in those days. There was an in-house piano trio backing the singers; they did a nice job on this one...
To finally see the faces behind the songs I grew up loving so dearly--the magic of time travel via video. Ruby has extraordinary talent and yet is humble, not wanting to gloat over her group's success. Makes me love her and her group that much more. To any remaining members of the group...I love you; thank you for giving me your sounds, your words, your love.
Absolutely amazing. You can call this 27 year old your newest fan
I'm 62 but this is one of my favorite songs from this era.Mike Douglas was a nice man.I remember his talk show from when I was kid in the '70's.
Pure Lead Vocal.
Draping effect backing vocals
The shuffle rhythm
They are singing this LIVE
What a beautiful song. Absolutely wonderful every time I hear it.
Back when music was music. Ruby was sweet and knocked it out of the park with Our Day Will Come.
Her voice, that harmony, that song still gives me goosebumps and never tire of it. So awesome!
A timeless beautiful romantic ballad that still touches the heart...so lovely...
At school coming home lunchtime the radio station will play (our day will come) I just love this song. It is about feelings about the DAY WILL COME. ...Its. About applying it to suit your someone's feelings😢❤🎉55
It's so great to see this Dreamy Love Song done Live!!!!So Utterly Distinctive, Wonderfully performed by these Bespoke Musical professionals!!!!!Probably one of the most memorable pieces that began my lifetime love of music at the tender age of 4!!!!!A Beautiful Eternal Song!!!!
When music was a virgin, pure, innocent and clean!!
I knew this song because of the cover that Amy Winehouse did, I didn’t know it was a song from the 60’s. Glad to hear the original.
As a GI in West Germany in1963 this was the favorite song in the Coleman Kaserne EM Club of both black GIs and white GIs.
It was banging at the " Rock " Ayers Kasern " in 1964. 1st Bde 3rd Amored Division. Music was music then.
Brilliantly performed! The clarity of her voice, the enunciation of her words, the timing of the lyrics are a lost art today. One of the all time great songs by a extremely talented group who never got the respect nor the money they deserved. How could record companies and American business be so cruel?
Exploitation and backstabbing is how they succeed in business!! :(
It's actually live audio, that's great!
Great
Yeah man that was rare on TV
You can see the overhead mics over the Romantics.
Lacks the punch of the recording!
@@Glinkaism1I agree. But still it is interesting to hear how the voices sound live in comparison to the recording.
sung live and still sounds great
A rare instance where a TV show band actually did a fine job staying true to a hit pop song WITHOUT patronizing it or steering it in a different direction as so many TV bands did back then.
Ruby and group could actually sing it like the record.
Maybe they carried the arrangement with them and handed it to the bandleader.
Excellent performance from the actual videotape.
You are exactly Correct!
Perfection!
I'll say -- a beautiful job. The TV-show band had their work cut out for them, since the original had a wailing (for lack of a better term) organ and lots of harp glissandos (I think is the term) -- hard to reproduce.
@@lgeubs This is my favourite version of this beautiful song that was crying out for a Bossanova backbeat to make it danceable.
Very true very true I think the song is not trivial and the Mike Douglas orchestra and all the vocalists do a great job of listening to one another and staying together.
What an incredible live performance.
As I am writing this in April of 2017, Ruby (nee Nash) Garnett is approaching her 83rd birthday (in June). This was their only Billboard Top 10 hit (#1), but they had two others in the Top 30.
Including "Hey There lonely Boy" which got gender-changed abd became a hit for Eddie Holman. But they did it first.
@Paul Johnston Thanks for that EXTREMELY interesting info, Paul. I have always loved that song (as recorded by Eddie Holman), even giving it a try in a karaoke show, but I never knew (until you told me) that it had been recorded by Ruby and the Romantics! I will try to find their version, because I'd like to hear it. [Ah, I just found it at ua-cam.com/video/KcfRzW8Zrsk/v-deo.html.] Oh ... I noticed (above) that I had written my original comment here in 2017, when Ruby was about to turn 83. I decided (just now) to see if she is still alive -- and she is, at age 87! Even more amazing (to me) is that I just discovered that I live only about 53 miles from Ruby and her husband of more than 55 years! I also found a very interesting article/interview from March of 2021, and I recommend that everone read it (at www.beaconjournal.com/story/news/2021/03/26/akron-singer-ruby-nash-garnett-recalls-1960-s-success-romantics/4802379001/ )
@@JFGecik WOW! Way cool thanks for sharing. Very informative article. I love the photo compilation to one of my faves. I have the 45 record still; believe it or not. I just found this interview with Ms Ruby and Tom Meros ua-cam.com/video/NCj9BpshxoQ/v-deo.html
Hey!!!!!! Love the pianist!!!!!!! Those rich milky chords, wicked!!!!!
Lovely song beautiful voice love ❤ the harmonies too.
As a young boy I knew this would be my theme,My day has come for over 70 yrs.God is good God is great.I truly love this song.1 yr later. Keeping the Faith. Still in Love this Way.
I was a kid in elementary school when this came out, when the early 60s was still basically the 50s. I loved this song, still do.
This is how it’s done kiddos. (Live, almost a cappella, no auto tune, no over dubs, just raw talent)
Tell that to the youngsters who claim/think they are singing today. The AMAs this year were a joke & a loss of 3 hrs I'll never get back.
This people had real talent today they just keep promoting the next pretty face wit h limited latent and usually no real voice either. Just the way they recorded songs back then compared to now is so different.
People who can actually sing well live in public and everything! :)
Live was so unusual in those days. I’m surprised, but happy, to see it.
Yeah...............................and they can hold a note. hahaha
So pure and innocent. A flawless performance of a timeless classic.
The Mike Douglass show played a major part in bringing Black artists and the music into our homes before the days of music videos
This song came out the year I was born. It is one of my all time FAVORITES
Amy Winehouse did a really good cover of this song, back in the noughties I think, which showed how talented she was as well. I think that’s why I recognised the tune when Gold ( a UK oldies station ) played it a few nights ago.
Yep, the TV hosts back then were all kind of corny, but a great performance from a somewhat forgotten group.
Amy did a cover of this song in 2007 NOT 90s and did a superb job.
@@bqkmg2037 BS, Amy sounded like finger nails on a blackboard compared to this.
@@SamofCR Whatever HATER....of course not as good as the original 1963 Ruby and the romantics version but I still like Amy's cover too.....you should check out Frankie Vallis mid 70s cover of this song its my second favorite besides the original one...check it out
Do you remember them suits fellas, back in the day??Our Days Did Come, and will never be Forgotten,,Thanks RUBY and Y'all Too, ROMANTICS!!!
This song is so fitting, for now and ever!!!
2020 and I still love this song. I wholeheartedly agree with other posts .. this was REAL talent .. their voices were their instruments .. nothing computerized .. raw talent .. beautiful lyrics .. no cursing ... aah, I miss those days!
Could play this song all day!

When music was real and soooo good.
I remember watching this when it was live on television. I was five years old at the time. A timeless classic. Very nice.
One of the most dynamite songs from that time in my youth. I have loved this song so much since the day it came out in the early 1960’s. This is such a beautifully harmonized version!!!
oh wow, what a great memory for me amidst the Beatles chaos! I love this song.....take me back for just a few to sweeter times
Rare footage indeed! A live performance was rare in 1963....and they sounded just as the record...WOW! Smooth and professional and the house band has to be commended for a perfect set. Those were the days..romantic and danceable music and fond memories. And, hey...was that a very young Mike Douglas??? Talk about a real time machine...Thanks!
I feel sorry for the generation(s) that don't "get this."
The harmony that those voices do…oofff…Lovely goosebumps.
I love her voice
Nice to hear them actually sing in person. Awesome!
Ruby Nash sounded good live. Some artists just can't recreate that studio sound we hear on the radio. Thanks for posting.
Still sounding good in 2023
Oh my those voices and melodies out of this world! I miss those days I was only 6 but I remember
This is my first glimpse of Ruby. I loved this song my whole life and never knew the people. til now. Thank you!
I love their voices! 😢❤
Our Day Will Come ❤️
I Love This Song Lovely
🍃🐦🇺🇲🎩🍾🍷🎊⚜️🍬
❤ this song i can't believe i eight year's old when this song came out with the good lords blessing i'm 67 years old now but thank each and everyone for this gem and great memories of year's gone bye ruby and the romantic 💃🕺🕺🕺🕺😘
Another classic group with beautiful voices and emotional delivery of that famous, memory-invoking song!! Thank you for finding this clip!!
Love the blend. This song really carries me away.
Wow, I love this sound. it takes me back to the days when I lived with my dad during my Junior High School days back in 1967
A big song from 1963! A beautiful song and a beautiful performance!
A very beautiful song.
Just learning this on guitar...a zillion years later!. Classic... It's beautiful!!! The tone of her voice is gorgeous.
One of my all time favorite songs...a true classic!
I'm in nirvana. *Our day will come...*One of the finest works of soul music ever performed or written.
This was my mom song. I remember watching her sing and reminisce to this song🙏🏾❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Lovely. Remember hearing it for first time on radio years after it release...-
Dionne warwick also did a sensual rendition of Our Day will Come in 182 Heartbreaker album
Ruby was Beautiful woman and they dressed really well 💕 ☺️ 🎉🎉🎉🎉 one my fav's
She is the only member of the group still living and will celebrate her 90th birthday on June 15, 2024. I hope that Cousin Bruce Morrow will play this song on his show on WABC-770 that Saturday evening.
I really like this live version. KAPP Records A&R director Al Stanton cut two versions of "Our Day Will Come" with Ruby & the Romantics, one with a mid-tempo arrangement and the other in a bossa nova style. They opted for the mid-tempo for the single release and it went to #1. If you compare this with the single, this performance sounds like the Bossa Nova version with vocals replacing the organ solo.
I love this song and this group!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
very nice with a bossa nova beat.
Brazilian bossa nova & samba music was popular back at that time also !!!!!
omar shabazz I like your comment, I‘m total agree
Bossa nova baby!
After the 60's....Music started going down! Glad I experienced it (60's) ..British Invasion...Motown...Folk... R&B.....Woodstock!
Wow, this is super sweet and it looks like they're really singing, not lip synching. She's gotta great voice.
The legends that never need autotune
ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL SONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BRING BACK THE MUSIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nice and classy live version !!! 🙂👍
FLAWLESS! So nice to see this clip. They exuded class and talent. Ruby reminds me a bit of Sarah Vaughan in this clip.
Sarah Vaughan - high praise indeed 👏!
The best song of 1963 time of innocence good days
Talent & Style never grows old 🙌
So, my Father passed a year ago. He left me all of his LPs way back from the 50s. This album, with many others, is included.
Classic, always loved this one
Man...they killed it...all the way live!
Wow that was awesome such a breath of fresh air. Love Mike douglas🤗
Just love the chord changes and harmonies
This video is such a treat. I was watching a movie and heard this song playing in the background and immediately went to UA-cam and just listen over n over n over n over tried to quench my thirst for this beautiful song. Wow!!!
Now here are true amazing singer's. ❤
What a CLASS ACT. Love the fine dressing and of course the song that i grew up listening.
THIS SONG HAS MAGIC IT MAKES YOU FEEL SO GOOD WHEN YOU HEAR IT THANKS RUBY AND THE ROMANTICS
I love this beautiful song.👍🥰
One of my all time favorites. Brings back memories. 🙂
I worked with her at AT&T and she was and is a wonderful person…very down to earth. I play her songs quite often on our jukebox🤗
July 1, 2023 I dreamt of this song in complete detail so I hopped out of bed and looked it up.
I was 17 when it first came out and Ruby & The Romantics did a perfect job of singing it.
Looking back to the lyrics of yesterday they were so innocent and high minded -- dreamy and hopeful and not dark and fatalistic like some of the lyrics of today. It all depends on what you choose to focus on.
One of the Romantics got dangerously close to the edge of his podium.
No autotune needed!
A class act.
