Hello mam, I'm a civil engineer and have chosen BIM for my project of a Residential apartment, to do that research about What is BIM? Your explanations & thoughts are very much useful and appreciated...and also a new subscriber for your work😇 THANK YOU
Hi @madheshamaddy7094 thanks for comment and happy to hear you liked the channel. On top of all the theoretical references available, I would recommend you to install a BIM tool and see its capabilities by navigating through the software interface. Some companies give free student license (for example Autodesk). You can try Revit, Autodesk Civil 3D, ARCHICAD or Trimble Tekla Structures. There are various tutorials on UA-cam. If you have access to LinkedIn Learning, try the tutorials there. All the best!
Hi Adarsh, many thanks for your feedback. Wish you the best of luck with your research. Digital construction is rapidly expanding and there is always a shortage of skilled professionals in this sector.
I think since 2017 the British government make a mandate that all construction project should be deliver in BIM level 2. The British standards institute (Bsi) provide standards for BIM level 2 projects. Please make a brief video on Bim level 2 project. Thanks
Thank you so much for your very informative UA-cam channel. Is there any software that you recommend for construction planning and construction management? I'm a developer and I would like to have some guide during the course of construction for scheduling, cost, take off....
Hi Armin, thanks for your comment. Are you looking for something other than Revit Architecture and Navisworks? These are great software applications for scheduling, cost and take off. Unless you are looking for a particular function? Let me know.
Hi mam, really like your video and expecting more videos on bim technology. mam currently I am learning revit software ( architecture , structure and MEP) could you tell me the job opportunities in this sector and do i need a master degree in this field or should i only work on my skill. really confused about this. hope you will reply...... love from india.
Hi Vinay, thanks for your message. There are various job opportunities around BIM (BIM coordinator, BIM Manager, BIM Lead, BIM technician, etc...). To get higher up roles, it always helps to have both software hands-on experience and theoretical knowledge, although it defers from job to job and company to company. I would recommend you to search for BIM roles close to your specialisation and analyse the job specifications.
There are many good books that explain BIM theory (for the practical parts and tutorials refer to online resources: UA-cam, LinkedIn Learning, various web pages, etc.). Some BIM books for you: BIM demystified : an architect's guide to building information modelling/management (BIM) Building Information Modelling, Building Performance, Design and Smart Construction (Springer is the publisher) BIM Handbook : A Guide to Building Information Modeling for Owners, Designers, Engineers, Contractors, and Facility Managers (Wiley is the publisher)
As far as I am aware of, the application of BIM (process and standards) in construction projects in Iran is limited at the moment. It will be the next big thing in the next 5 years or so (I would think so!). However, there are many job opportunities for people with BIM software skills, particularly Revit Architecture, Structure and MEP.
Thank you for your marvelous explanation. Dear professior, I am currently working in educational Institute in Africa. I want advance my carirer in BIM. Is there any possible way of getting further education or training in BIM online for free? Please advice me.
Happy to hear you found the videos useful. There are many online resources: to get a career in BIM you need to know a BIM software (related to your specialisation)+ BIM standards+ engage in BIM projects. Try to see which software is the most relevant to you (analyse the existing job market and see what software applications are needed, for example Revit MEP or Structure). Then search for the available tutorials online (UA-cam for example).

Hip Hop modeling of BIM is as follows: BIM…BIM….BIM. (3 times) BOM….BOM….BOM. ((3 times) DEM….DEM….DEM…. DUM. (As many times as you enjoy before clicking the project file)
It is misleading and full of language makeup. The author aims to answer the question, what is BIM? But failed to do it. The evolution, the point, has not been explained at all. The key terminologies (model, modelling, information, & building) were mishandled. Timeline and sources are not the best selection; it is wrong in some cases. Architects have killed BIM - this may be the burial, and now DT. Fifty years ago, an architect judged that the model is the computer equivalent to the balsa wood models the architects make - but with extra benefits; if someone cannot see the danger in this explanation, it's clear that they did not think about it for five or six decades.
Many thanks for sharing your thoughts on the video. I agree there needs to be more said about BIM and this short video is only an introduction. The core concept of BIM is collaboration, therefore I don't support the idea of separation between disciplines. We appreciate your suggestions on how to improve the content. Many thanks.
@@builtevolvechannel8870 , the core concept for all digital and information systems, cover collaboration; however, the significance or the point of the evolution should be shot at least with few words. The truth is that 99% of the BIM terminology users could not signify BIM from CAD or DT, or CDE! Yes, all these are about collaboration. The blame is on the leading initiatives, companies, and universities for not paying attention to the fundamental research and taking the applied research for granted. Fundamental failure is with the academicians who handle BIM who did not see BIM as an interdisciplinary area, but hoarding the matter only within the building science and not sharing or adopting computer science systematically.
@@gpm6334 Brilliant points! I agree that there are not enough BIM experts who know both theoretical and practical aspects of BIM. Also, I agree that wider collaboration (beyond construction disciplines) is the way forward for the built environment sector. Thanks for your comments.

The video is quite resourceful in terms of explanation and visuals!
