The thing that drives me crazy about RC4WD is that they are still using open gears on the motor and transmission. We use these things in dirt, sand, leaves, sticks, etc. Why the hell have they not enclosed the gears? I love the scale looks but the open gears keep me from buying.
I've been running exposed spurs and pinions forever and never had a problem. Not on my crawlers or even on my Kyosho Madforce which has a completely open 3speed tranny.
Misusing a term: Instead of saying suspension is 'independent', I meant to say coil-sprung. This is different from the Trailfinder 2 which is leaf-sprung.
I was quick to pre-order this one, but I ended up canceling it as videos started slowly rolling out. Biggest disappointment for me was the size. Slightly smaller than others.
Great review as always! Too many negatives at this price point keep me from buying it: smaller than most 1/10 scale rigs, tall motor position, pinched frame & compromises in body details like the grill (no reviewer mentions the 7 slot grill under the rectangular one. Pressure from RC4WD to prevent Jeep Licensing fees?), the screw attachment dimples in the fenders, etc. I like the removable top & opening hood, but for me it's not enough to save it.
You see rc4wd doesn't have the jeep licensing, just like the d90 did in the begining. That licensing whent to axial for the jeep. Now that finally rc4wd got the licensing from land rover, they're calling it what they are supposed to be called! Land rover defender d90s. Hopefully jeep let's rc4wd use the name in the future.
You would think the would do a some powerful magnets 🧲 instead of pins. The new truck looks nice 👌 I prefer the Landy D90 and D110, that I own. Still building my D110. And my LC70 boom racing trucks.. Cheers
After viewing some videos of this scale, I am pretty sure than a Tamiya CC02 with an hobbywing 1080 and a motor of 45T, good tyre will perform as well or better for only 350$.
That’s where you’d be wrong. Tamiya does not make a hobby grade rc kit. It’s all plastic toy grade garbage. If you want a real hobby grade rc, ignore Tamiya or even Traxxas for that matter.
@@Streetysuperduper I understand what you say, but he RC4WD Cross Country Black Rock is for me too expensive for what he gives. I know that Tamiya doesn"t play the same game than Axial or other brands. but I am sure that a CC02 upgrade can perform like this RC4WD and is less expensive
Don't buy this truck, so many people are complaining about everything wrong with it, I own one and I can't even drive it yet because out of the box it had a broken suspension mount and a half shaft missing a universal joint pin. Not to mention the body is a nightmare to get off. Also if you look on their website the truck is no longer there, so RC4WD knows they failed on this design and has removed it from their catalog. Just giving you all a warning.
This is the only thing that RC4WD has come out with that’s really different in any way, far as the chassis ect. I bought one and really like mine! I don’t know what all the negative stuff is about it ..... Nice video
Wanted this to be the rig to prove em all wrong, came in with a broken shock mount. Hoping the company will quickly take care of it, for the cash. Just a paper weight waiting on parts.
I just got mine, I love the model! I think it looks great, the only drawback is the body release latches! They're a pain in the ass to release! Also I dont know if yours came with the zip tie wrapped around the front linkage arm. Im gonna have to cut that one off, and put a new tie around the chassis to hold the wires the way it supposed to! Otherwise it is a great looking rig!👌😎👍
On your trail finder screw in the body screws almost all of the way then cut the heads off. Then you can snap the body on and off in an instant. Easier than body pins!
The body gets easier to take on and off with time but at the same time I’ve noticed with mine the buttons get stuck if you get them muddy also the transmission sits a bit lower than the tf2 and with the flat skid plate it has a better side angle than the tf2 I can’t wait to see what people do with them and what bodies will come out for the chassis!
You’d think by now, forking out $500 would get you at least LED headlights.
At least one lol
Awesome buddy
The scale looks a little small.
Isn't it 1/12th?
What happened to the cross emo review?...is it that bad? lol
Have not run it yet. It's at paint. Hopefully pick up tomorrow.
I do have several Rc4wd truck, the new cross country have a lot of changes in the chassis which I really like, but why are you freaking! Big pass.
니혼진 와꾸네..
Another Jeep 🤦🏻
Don't like the grill

I drive my rigs through swamps, I’ve never had an issue with the spur gear or pinion

£500 and you don’t get lights or inner fenders? Can’t see this doing very well, the gleande 2 looks better IMO, I expect more from rc4wd
$500 for a short wheelbase rig and don’t perform to well is a lot of money.
High CG for sure, body looks easily broken, no lights...$500....no thanks
I was quick to pre-order this one, but I ended up canceling it as videos started slowly rolling out. Biggest disappointment for me was the size. Slightly smaller than others.
I will have one very soon ! God bless Rc4wd I love it been drooling 🤤 since seen it!wife is not going be happy but it's a must have for myself🤘🏻👍😃

How would you compare this chassis to the "Gold Standard" TRX4 Defender? Thanks for your thoughts.
This one really just seems like a trail crawler. Not optimized for performance or very steep and difficult lines.
You would think the would do a some powerful magnets 🧲 instead of pins. The new truck looks nice 👌 I prefer the Landy D90 and D110, that I own. Still building my D110. And my LC70 boom racing trucks.. Cheers
The D90 is truly amazing. That's our choice too. So much detail and such a nice finish.
I love those detailed rc crawler's
Man, you make the best, most informative videos I've seen! Keep up the good work!👍👍
I really love all my rc trucks but the prices get more ridiculous all the time. I can buy a real shtbox for 500

@Steve Vento plastik fantastik! Yeah Tamiya is more of an emotional purchase from our childhood start.
holy shit 500$, you can get the shitty x-maxx for that or the arrma kraton 8s or the Losi 1/5 DBX and alot more at that price
Please find me a 500.00 xmaxx lol
If you haven't yet. Pull the grill off. Now look at the it.. . Pretty cool. 👍,,
There's a surprise?

Really appreciate that. We greased our latches and use a flathead screwdriver top pop off the posts one at a time.

Big bro, your presentation is sympathetic as yourself.
Hi 🤚🏼 from Turkey.
sympathetic! Some translation lost for sure. :)
Hello Turkey!!!
I have the Landy in both 4 door and 2 door. I prefer 😌 them to the smaller new Black Rock.
Great video.
Can you please do an scx10 iii gladiator vs trx4 sport!!!!!!
As always, a very informative video. Keep up the great work!
Did u do a LMT Running Video?? 😊
Hi
Bellissimo... ciao dall'Italia
Its a great truck chassis wise.
But the body is to small.
Great video as usual 🙌
Likely the intro very profesh...we were just checking the t2 at a local hobbytown looks nice

Great video until the quick seizure inducing super fast slide show of clips at end.
Great looking truck for sure and a pretty solid value at that price point I think.
Thats good
Great detail for rtr 🤗
Love the reviews 👍
I have ben waiting for this for a while, interested to see what it is and if its worth it. Also love the vids
