- SQLite on the web? Persistent access to local user files? Encoding and decoding video and audio? Using multiple screens? Bluetooth and USB? The Chrome team is hard at work adding new features and APIs that make new things possible on the web and on ChromeOS. We'll discuss new features, their use cases, and web apps that use them.

That's really starting to be end of actual apps in smartphones specially because of file system access most of the apps usually requires fs access or other api which are available in browser already like location, tts then there is PWA, WebGPU too! but ofcourse the concern is fs access to malicious websites there will be people who'll do whatever site asks on pirated sites then site can add virus files pretty easily
File System Access is a big change indeed! The team took more than two years talking about ways to make this safe for users and very difficult to exploit before proceeding with the current work on persistent permissions, and actually I'm quite confident that everyone found an excellent way to do this!
Can someone explain why we cannot have continous GPS tracking in web-apps (under lock screen)?
And no, it's not a privacy issue, since doing it in a web-app could make the user even more aware that it is going on, compared to a native app.
It is so frustrating for us who is in the market of sports-trackers.
Asked for the same thing yesterday. My comment was deleted.
bla bla bla, show me the cod!
