More then 99% of the astrologers don't have much idea on what they are saying. they are doing it for a living. Only few astrologers are like who say astrology is only a hint. don't block your mind. In my experience astrology is good to understand oneself, persons personality and where person knows what to work upon. So no prediction of future. More sort of Spiritual Guidance.

Sadh Guru has a point in dealing with bad situations. It is comforting advice for us not to become ignorant. We cannot deny also that astrology has its own truth as well. It is one of the limbs of Vedas that we need to consider or else the author vyasadeva is wrong in introducing to some sages if it has no use. There is an ultimate goal that people should dive into and that is complete surrender to the Supreme Vishnu that will take everything from all our worries. But we cannot deny that we still need a portion of astrology because even our Ekadashi calendar and other rituals are also based on the astrological pattern. What we can do is to situate ourselves where we are comfortable and that helps us advance. Even KN Rao the great astrologer also said in the last portion of his advice that astrology has nothing to do or inferior in your connection to the divine path (rephrase). Astrology is good in material affair and it is helpful but the great devotee of God do not depend in astrology.

I am so glad I came upon this as I was going down the vedic astrology hole deeply and becoming almost depressed by it and what it said my next 20 years was going to look like; and it was terrible. I knew I had to broaden my thinking on this. I have been meditating for a year now and believe that is ultimately more powerful and how I show up in the world that relying solely on the planets energy to dictate my life. I still love astrology and think it’s useful, but only for hope. Meditation is far more powerful than it.

Astrology is not only about predicting. Every star and planets have their own effect on others and us. We can with astrology understand these things and reduce some Ill effects. If we are like buddha or any other spiritual beings then his words are true but 99% people don't have spiritual level to that extent

Knowing the future helps you prepare for sudden events and transformations. If you know it’s going to rain tomorrow due to sudden weather changes, you can prepare yourself with an umbrella or a shelter. It is all about how prepared we are for the future when you know what’s going to happen. Not about being complacent.
You want to predict something only because you cannot sense it. It is not that you don't have capability to do so. It is because you aways for cus on certain aspect of life, you loss your senses on other dimension.
The past had died, the future didn't come yet. The present is the only reality. The will to predict or calculation disconnect you from reality. That is the main reason you lost your sense of life.
You predict because you worried about the future.Whether a problem can be solve or not, you will find that worry is pointless. Your habit on worrying will always find his target, thus it is a endless task.
The will to predict will be your obstacle if you want eternal stays within you. All the master who reached enlightenment, they conquer the fear of failure simply because they only attach to reality.

If a practicer tells you to be real, it simply means being mindful for every moment. In other word, don't put your mind in past and future.
When you are mindful, your skin will tells you when it will rain, how large it is and how long it will be. Just like animal know the weather in future by using their sense.
Ancient people created a lot of method to do prediction, because they know how things correlate to each other. They observe the natural not by tool, but using their senses.
It will take too lots of word to detaily explain all the ideas. It is not a thing you can know by logic, because you didn't have experience on this.
All you have to do is practice mindfulness or other forms of pratice. Just remember the previous comments and use it to test whether you are in correct way. The more you practice, the more you understand.

For example take Usain Bolt he won 3 gold medals at the Olympics but is he the only one who tried hard to get the gold medals? Why do some have that extra edge over others? We are all made of flesh and blood but why do some excel and some don’t? There are some who achieve success by luck and there are some who achieve success by hard-work, why so? A person winning a lottery what senses does he use to win a lottery, it is pure luck, and that’s were Astrology comes into play, predictions come into play. It isn’t easy to predict, not every tom, dick and Harry can predict. There is a lot of preparation needed. Predictions become true only when judgement of planets is done accurately.
The level of acting through our senses too differ from person to person. The level of utilization of senses too differ from person to person. Two persons doing the same Sadhana, can they achieve the same level, there will be a point where one will achieve more the other. That’s where astrology comes into play.

But i use one definition of yoga to clear this out. Yoga simply means to treat success and failure equally when he is doing his duty.
Things has born must come to die.
Success must come with failure.
Comfort must come with pain.
Happy come with sad.
Good come with evil.
People think they are opposite. But if you look carefully they are binded, just like two sides of a coin.
This is the way of life. Life itself doesn't have problem. The problem is when you meet success, you welcome them with joy. But when you meet failure, you fight them like your enemies.
In the process, you made up three types of suffer.
The suffer to chase for what you like. The suffer to maintain for what you like. The suffer to fight against what you don't like.
You have to differentiate what comes from you and life. Pain comes from life is unavoidable in long run. But suffer comes from you can be managed by yourself.
Here comes another three defination of yoga, non-attachment, union of duality, to have full taste of life.
It is not who have stronger sadhana can accept the information. It is because they are acceptive.
Only those who can be friends with life, life will treat them well. This is why, even if yoga practicer mainly focus in spiritual aspect of life, they still have better goods compare to the other.
Those who treat everything equally can turn bad into good. Because bad doesn't exist in reality, it is just a concept you hold.
The moment you realize duality doesn't exist, when you fully understand that duality is just a false concept, when you achieve total freedom, is named as enlightenment.
This is why, those who alway worrying could never attain sadhana. If you want to practice yoga, you have to slowly throw away your "worry".

Study of planets tells more about a person and helps in self awareness. It's never meant to write down a way of life on a piece of paper and live by it. It is meant for awareness of the inbuilt capabilities and the harms that a person might experience in life and much more. However, meditation and belief in God does help in overriding negative energies around us. For a person to be able to take full charge of its life, consciousness must be raised to the highest level.
I like astrology only because I get to watch patterns and cycles, which is fun. But I learned a long time ago that if you stay centered in God, Spirit, your soul...whatever you want to call it....then the planets don't affect you. You affect everything else. Yogananda said to stay centered in God and the planets could not touch you.

I dont think people understand. We are affected by planets because we are in the physical body. Once we start doing spiritual practices we create a little distance from our physicality, we live in the body but being completely aware of the thoughts and actions we do. There is clarity. And when there is a gap between our emotional, physical identity and us as a life, the physical planets can't affect us. I feel like a lot of astrologers know this but don't want to let it out as they won't be able to earn as much. I love astrology as a science, it's fascinating. But I can't do it as a job because spiritual practices is the only best remedy for all afflictions in my opinion (no offence)

But truth is truth. Celestial bodies do change our body chemistry if one likes it or wants it or not. Instead of ignoring that such an influence exists, we can once apply astrology on ourselves and decide if we want to keep it handy or not.
Yeah I agree. But there also one thing I find peculiar. According to sadhguru's horoscope he was supposed to die at an early age but he is alive because he connected his nadis or something with other people. So even if the planets control some part of life we still have power. And he is just saying we should not be too much dependent on astrology because enlightenment is what we should all be seeking for.

I have huge respect for you Sadguru. May be you had some bitter experiences in past with some Astrologer however Astrology as knowledge is never about prediction it's about showing right path like you do. It's states the rules of may happen not will happen if you don't take charge of your life. It also teaches you to take control of your life and be satisfied not always successful. I think successful and satisfaction have become synonymous these days. I understand that but the problem is anyone and everyone is predicting and posting in social media. It's really crazy whom to believe. Where to find someone who really knows what they are talking about while predicting other people future.
It is not about how he had a bad experience with some Astrologer. Neither he seems to be pulling down the shastra. But he is asking people to trust themselves rather trust in the good or bad an astrologer tells them. Sometimes knowing the future makes a person fall in deep despair, traumas are triggered and so nothing but misery comes out of it. The revealing of future should be done wisely according to an individual's mental situation. So being aware is only what he is talking about. Be in faith and patience. Believe in yourself. Work on yourself. That's all. In this era, there are more than half of the world's people are miserable. In such a case, warmth is of need rather than future predictions. If you can help them be a better person, be of help. If one cannot, then by being unnecessarily stricter and open one is going to add damage. By the end, awareness and a healthy body, mind and soul is the goal of each Shastra.
See astrology is the way one can just predict the way how the path is leading us ahead , but astrology is practiced in a wrong manner by 99% astrologers in india to make money , even to date reiki masters and many more in spiritual fields do the same thing for money so I would actually say astrology is wonderful science but not in right hands.if at all astrogy is really understood by our people it can be beautiful science to help us understand our karmic path and correct ourselves.
